Mercury’s latest retrograde period is OVER as of 9:32a PDT today, Wednesday 3rd May 2017! This also means we are experiencing ‘round two’ of the 2017 Mercury Direct in Aries.
Much like the first round back in March, Mercury in Aries is going to make its messages quickly and clearly known, and it will make its messages known through action as actions tend to speak louder than words.
Yet what makes this second round of the 2017 Mercury in Aries especially potent and action-focused is the astrological phenomenon of mutual reception.
Mutual reception is when the planetary rulers of the signs are moving through each other’s signs. In this case, while Mercury – the ruler of Gemini – is moving through Aries, Mars – the ruler of Aries – is currently moving through Gemini. This amplifies their energies, even though the two won’t actually form a major aspect transit while passing through each other’s signs. As result, Mercury is more assertive in asking questions and takes initiative in communications, seeking information, and learning. Mars learns and communicates through action, and reveals much more about what it knows and what it really thinks or believes with its actions than it may want to.
That said, this second occurrence of 2017 Mercury in Aries is calling upon us to do two things differently than Mercury’s presence in Aries back in March: 1) to back up our words with actions, and 2) to question everything and make sure we get answers. Empty promises aren’t going to cut it now – there needs to be follow-through. Where actions alone were not enough in March, words alone will not be enough now and we best be ready to explain why things aren’t getting done the way we said they would be.
This is an opportunity to back up our past and current statements. Whatever intentions we’ve set or declarations we’ve made over the last few weeks, it’s time for us to prove our commitment through our present and future actions. This affirms not only for others but also ourselves our willingness to stand behind our words through our actions. Expect to be held accountable for whatever you say or have said over the next couple of weeks.
To that point, here are the upcoming transits involving 2017 Mercury in Aries.
- Aries Mercury conjunct Uranus, most exact on 9th May – This transit has been an enduring one. These two have been within 3° orb of each other since 23rd April, and will be within orb through 14th May – a total of 22 days! This conjunction has been bringing and will continue to bring communications which inspire more action than usual, and in true Aries fashion, these actions may be more assertive if not aggressive than usual. Be ready to see groups and/or communities being more aggressive in both their communications and their efforts to push their agendas forward or initiate new directions.
- Aries Mercury trine Sagittarius Saturn Retrograde, most exact on 11th May – Here’s that accountability mentioned earlier. If your actions align with your words, you move forward. If they don’t, you’re stuck. You’ll also get an earful from people who are holding you to your words. Don’t get too upset with them, though – they may be more in your corner than you think.
- Aries Mercury semi-sextile Pisces Chiron, most exact on 13th May – A desire to heal emotional-spiritual wounds of the past inspires assertive action(s) to bring about that healing. Just be aware – the wound may need to be re-opened in order for it to be healed.
- Aries Mercury trine Leo North Node, most exact on 14th May – This conjunction is part of a Grand Trine-Kite configuration the day before, involving Aries Uranus, Sagittarius Saturn Rx, and Moon in Sagittarius, and the Aquarius South Node as well. The Grand Trine favors the need to move forward, but the point of the Kite is going to draw our attention to all of the things holding us back. Are we ready to let go of the past in order to move forward toward our futures? Are we ready to claim our unique creative self-expressions, or are we too afraid to step away from what we think will make us ‘belong’?
Round Two of the 2017 Mercury Direct in Aries only lasts a short time. Mercury moves back into Taurus to begin its full run through that sign on 15th May.
