In the last major transit of 2012, the Sun conjuncted Pluto in Capricorn at 5:32a PST this morning, December 30th, 2012.

The Light of the Capricorn Sun is focused on our goals and ambitions, our desired outcomes, and our results.  As we reflect on the year of 2012 in order to create our resolutions and goals for 2013, we are sure to take note of the results of our year’s actions and activities, assessing what we wanted, what we ended up with, and considering what our options are from here.

On the cusp of 2013, more than in other years, we are being called upon to look at not only what we must bring in or bring forth in order to establish the happiness and fulfillment we seek, but also at what we must release or let go of in order to clear the way for what we really want in our lives.  We are being called upon to clear out everything and everyone that doesn’t serve us in the pursuit and achievement of our goals and ambitions.

In other words, Pluto – the planet of transformation, power, and influence – is calling upon us to eliminate or destroy all that does not align with our goals and intentions and all that doesn’t ignite our passions and ambitions.

And with the Sun conjuncting Pluto, it puts a spotlight on those things and people that we need to clear out.  Usually, in preparation for the New Calendar Year we are focused on the creation side of the goal and intention-setting process.  But this Sun-Pluto conjunction first ignites a process of elimination – a process in which all that we clear out and away creates space for the creation or arrival of all that is new and/or intended.

Conjunctions tend to be considered beneficial transits, but they are not always the most pleasant of transits.  In fact, they tend to be pretty intense, especially when they involve Pluto, the ruling planet of Scorpio.  This powerful and often destructive (or transformative) energy may have shown up as a major conflict or fight as a major issue finally comes to an explosive head.  It could also have been something small but with a big impact, such as a text message or phone call that had you thinking…do I really want to deal with this person or this situation anymore?  It only takes one little thing to tip the scale to recognition of a much-needed massive overhaul.

Whatever it is, you probably recognized that something or someone stands in the way of you having what you really, really want.  This may be a long-time goal or a long-desired outcome that you haven’t quite been able to reach, or an ambition you’ve wanted to pursue, but have postponed or delayed because of other obligations.  And this desire could be in any area of your life, but you’d probably want to look at where Capricorn falls in your personal chart to find out how this Sun-Pluto conjunction may be affecting you most…that is, if you’re not already clear how or where it’s showing up for you.

The key with this is to follow through.  Remember – Capricorn likes to get results, so it needs to get things done.  So it’s important to recognize what needs to go and then to actually take the necessary steps to purge it.  The clearing phase is important – without it, your resolutions for the New Year are sure to be challenged in their progress and fulfillment…if you can even get them off the ground.

Some of the purges will be easier than others.  But please take note – there will be a lot of choices in the next few days, weeks, and months that may be difficult to make, but will ultimately prove for the better if you make them.  Some of these choices you will have control over and others you won’t, so it’s important for you to take control over the direction of your life where and while you can.  Choose to be responsible for the course of your life!  Seize the opportunity here with the Sun-Pluto conjunction in Capricorn.

And Happy 2013 to you!
