We currently have the Sun, Mercury Retrograde, North Node, and Saturn moving in the sign of Scorpio in an 8 Universal numerological month. As if that wasn’t enough active Scorpio/Plutonic/8 energy, an exceptionally rare gem is about to be set into place in this crown – a Hybrid Eclipse-New Moon. The eclipse will begin about an hour before the Moon actually maximizes its full phase at 4:49a PST.
Eclipses in astronomy are always considered pretty special in that they are hauntingly beautiful events. However, this particular one is special because it is considered a hybrid – it will start as an annular (or “Ring of Fire”) eclipse, and soon after will expand into a true total eclipse. Hybrid eclipses such as this one are very rare, with the last one in 1854 and the next after this one in 2072.
Eclipses in astrology are special because of the pronounced nature of the events they can bring and their enduring effects upon the matters at hand at the time of their occurrence. Eclipses can bring about major life changes – changes that shake us into awareness and urge us to evolve and mature into the real truths of ourselves and our lives much more quickly than we otherwise might. Think of this as an express pass for personal development – an opportunity to be propelled forward into the reason and/or purpose for your being here on this planet right now.
Scorpio energy is about transformation. Its ruling planet, Pluto, represents power – usually in a destructive way or in a show of power or force. 8 energy is about power and influence, usually manifest in a deep desire to make a difference in or an impact on the lives of others. Are you getting the clue? This is not just any New Moon Eclipse – this is one that can really and truly change your life and possibly even change you forever.
Some of you will experience this New Moon Eclipse phase as a devastating time. Others will experience this as a triumphant time. Regardless of the end of the spectrum you are, one thing is for certain: the events that occur during this 2013 Scorpio New Moon phase – the events that are happening in our world and in our lives right now – they are happening to make a quick and profound impact on the course of your life individually and all of our lives collectively.
The New Moon Eclipse is occurring within a rather intense yet weakening grand sextile configuration with Mars in Virgo (sextile – practical action), Saturn in Scorpio (conjunct the Sun and New Moon – rebuilding from nothing), Pluto in Capricorn (sextile – clearing the outdated and irrelevant), and Chiron Retrograde in Pisces (trine – spiritual-emotional healing). And even though the Mercury Retrograde (thoughts, ideas, communications)and North Node (Universal intent) influences have lessened their power in the grand sextile with both at 7° at the time of the eclipse, the two still greatly influence Pluto (destruction, power), Juno (commitment), Chiron Retrograde (healing oneself), and Uranus Retrograde(identifying your role among others ) with all four at 9° in sequential signs, Capricorn through Aries respectively. You want to take a good look at what is happening in the world and in your life right now – these are the results of all that has come before now, and these are the foundations of what is to come. This is a message that this event marks the birth of new structures and disciplines for society and the world, and new goals, ambitions, and responsibilities for us as individuals.
Even though I tend to be a realist, I am also an optimist. As bad as things can seem sometimes, I truly get that everything is good in the long run if we choose to look for the good in every situation. That’s not to say that bad things don’t happen. It is to say that things may seem bad or worse in the moment – when your expectations aren’t met or when what is desired doesn’t happen at the moment or in the way you hoped. Yet life goes on, and at some point, you may look around and realize that we’re glad that what you wanted at the time didn’t come to pass. Maybe you weren’t as ready as you thought you were for what you wanted at the time. Maybe what you wanted wasn’t in alignment with your life purpose and path. It’s possible that the impact isn’t something that happens to you, but rather is something that happens because of you – because you are ready for it now; because the events of your life have happened in such a way that you’ve learned and grown and evolved into somebody who is ready for your life to change dramatically.
