As of Tuesday, November 5th, 2013 at 12:43a PST, Venus has entered the sign of Capricorn. This shifts the focus of your partnerships and one-on-one interactions of all kinds from a discovery and expansion of wisdom and truth to an awareness of intentions and goals.
Capricorn is all about goals, ambitions, and accomplishments – it wants to get results. Period. With Venus in this sign, you may now find yourself and others assessing your partnerships, looking at what the two of you accomplish when you are together. You may also consider what the purpose is for your being together. What are the common goals you share, or which goals do you support, encourage, and/or work with each other to accomplish in your partnership?
This is a great position for Venus in regard to business partnerships, providing a very objective way of assessing the ease and flow of your connections and looking at the effectiveness and productivity of them as well. This objectivity is a good thing. After all, it’s not personal – it’s business.
Yet if it is a personal relationship, this could be a challenging energy for Venus to be travelling through right now for that very same reason – it’s not personal. It’s all about the striving for the goals and getting the results. This is ambition at its finest, and unless you are wired in a way that having a personal relationship is a practical or professional goal, Venus in Capricorn could be a very confronting period for you.
Venus in Capricorn brings us to the more practical side of our one-on-one relationships of all kinds. It helps us explore and recognize why we are with the people we are with on a very basic and worldly level. Questions that may arise or come into consciousness at this time are:
- What are we partnered for?
- What are we working toward in this partnership – together and individually?
- What are the goals we share?
- Does this relationship/partnership support me or help me move closer to accomplishing my individual goals?
One of the things that may come up during this time is the realization that your partners may influence you in ways that find you changing your goals and ambitions. In those cases, you get to ask yourself if the new goals and ambitions are really your own, or if they actually belong to your partner.
That is a key point to address because there are more people than you think who sacrifice their true callings and ambitions in order to be in a partnership, or who believe that they need to present themselves in a certain way or achieve certain social or professional benchmarks or standards in order to be accepted and/or loved by another person. In these cases, being in a partnership or relationship can become the goal itself. If one is already in a relationship, sometimes sustaining the relationship at all costs becomes the goal.
Yet during Venus in Capricorn, you are almost forced to ask – does that partnership/relationship really align with who you truly are and what you truly want to accomplish in your life?
Recognize that your best partner(s) will be supportive and encouraging of your goals and ambitions. Yes, relationships require a certain level of compromise. However, they don’t necessarily require complete and total sacrifice. If you are being asked to sacrifice a dream or goal, you may want to ask yourself what is most important – which of your goals are your priorities professionally, personally, and in your life as a whole?
Prioritizing your goals for yourself is the most important thing you can do during Venus in Capricorn. It is crucial for you to know what you want so you can know if you and your partner are on the same page – if your priorities match up. If your top three priorities are similar or compatible (allowing each of you to move in your necessary directions in ways that support and encourage each other’s individual successes and/or the joint success of the partnership), then it’s a good indication that you can make the necessary adjustments, compromises, and/or sacrifices to achieve your common goals. However, if your priorities are worlds apart, you may want to reconsider your partnership. It’s not to say you don’t want the best for each other (or in personal relationships, that you don’t love each other). It is to say that for a partnership of any type to work, you need to be on the same page and have similar or compatible goals and ambitions.
Venus will be in Capricorn for quite a while – until March 5th, 2014 to be exact. This is due to a retrograde period from December 21st, 2013 through January 31st, 2014. The retrograde period will allow you to go within yourself to assess your role in your relationships and how your priorities may be affecting those you are in relationships with – from your perspective.
Thank you for reading and sharing Signs and Numbers. Until next post…
