Taurus 3 Sun cycles are fun because during them, you often become fully consciousness of your comfort zone(s) in the various areas of your life through first-hand experiences that help you see exactly what they are for you, especially in how they support your growth and expansion in the world.

May 2014 currently places us in a Taurus 3 Sun cycle, so you may have noticed over the last 9-10 days that you are having more experiences that are bringing you into awareness of how well your current lifestyle supports your personal growth and expansion.  The Sun always brings Light to the matters at hand, and in Taurus, the Sun reveals what you have in this regard and what you need in order for your lifestyle to work and function “properly” in support of your personal growth.  “Properly” is a very subjective term in this case because lifestyles and comfort zones are likely to vary depending on the individual(s) involved.  Taurus addresses survival needs, and though scientifically speaking those are the same for all of us, in this day and age, those common necessities come in different forms and qualities.  That’s where the subjectivity comes into play.

Your lifestyle needs and comforts are strongly influenced by your personal background and life experiences.    What works for you may be either not enough or too much for someone else.  Yet because it’s your comfort zone – what you’ve always lived in or what you’ve always strived for – you may not have much perspective about where you stand or what works for you in those matters…that is, until your comfort zone is challenged.

Enter Saturn in Scorpio.

Scorpio is notorious for dealing in extremes and being clear, decisive, and unwavering in its all-or-nothing positions.  Yet Scorpio is also known for bringing about powerful transformation – converting things into things completely different than what they were before.

Saturn is notorious for being oppressive or restrictive, making and enforcing the rules and keeping things in check.  Yet Saturn is also known for helping bring focus and discipline to matters so things can actually get done.

Together, Saturn in Scorpio represents where you’ve drawn the definitive lines in the sand, where you’ve put up the walls, where you’ve set the firm boundaries and written the non-negotiable rules…and where you get to change those rigid structures in order to have the lifestyle you say that you want to have (if you’re not already living it).

If you haven’t already experienced this reality check, the transit of the Taurus 3 Sun opposite Saturn Retrograde in Scorpio that goes exact at 11:27a PDT today, 10 May 2014 may give you your first taste of it.  Then again, you may have already noticed this energy as this transit began to make its presence known about 3 days ago, and will be felt for about another 3-4 days following today’s exact opposition.

Let’s discuss what is going on in this transit.

The Sun actually shines its Light on the Saturnian structures and systems that you have in place to maintain your comfort zone(s), revealing an entire system of boundaries, limitations, obstacles, and rules that you’ve conscious or subconsciously created in order to keep others from coming in and “messing up” your comfort zone.  However, during this Sun-Saturn Retrograde opposition, the events that are occurring around you may be challenging you to face the lifestyle that you’re actually living, and to come to terms with whether or not you truly want to be living it.

The funny thing about comfort zones is that the comfort they give you may not be comfortable at all!  Comfort zones aren’t always what you really and truly want in that they may not make your life any easier or better.  Sometimes, your comfort zone is simply what you’re used to.   Some examples:

–          You may say that you want a new job, but you’ve settled in and gotten used to the one you have, so you stay.

–          You may say that you want to change neighborhoods, but you’ve convinced yourself that you’ve lived there for so long already, so it will do.

–          You may say you want more money to do something special, but then you frivolously spend whatever extra money comes to you almost immediately, keeping your financial situation exactly where it is.

The big news flash:  The boundaries and limitations that keep you in your comfort zones are almost always self-imposed!  Very rarely are you being held in a lifestyle you don’t want to be in against your will.  Even in the face of a rough childhood or an experience that wasn’t your fault, you have a choice in how to move through and on from that experience.  Even when it seems that you are trapped and unable to get out of the prisons of your own making, if you are willing to take personal responsibility for your life, learn some new information, and/or look at your circumstances differently, you may find that there’s a way out.  Of course, finding or moving in that way may not be easy – it may require significant effort on your part.  Yet that effort is what is needed in order to get to the lifestyle you really want to be in.

The Taurus 3 Sun shining its Light on the structures of Saturn combined with the energy of Scorpio helps you recognize:

a)      which boundaries and structures need to be cleared/destroyed in order to support your growth and expansion

b)      which boundaries and structures need to be built/established in order to support your growth and expansion

c)       which boundaries and structures need to be cleared and built in a new way that better supports your growth and expansion

Transformation of your lifestyle isn’t only a material experience – it’s also an emotional and psychological experience.  It requires a transformation of not only the outer structures, but the inner structures that feed and support the outer reality.  This is where the current retrograde motion of Saturn in Scorpio comes into play.  Scorpio helps you dig deep within your emotional-spiritual self in order to bring about these necessary changes.  A new view/perspective of yourself gets to be experienced.  A new set of beliefs about your life and lifestyle may need to be adopted and applied.  A new mindset gets to be developed within you.  A new way of communicating with yourself gets to be implemented.  This is the transformation that is available through Saturn Retrograde in Scorpio.

This Sun-Saturn Retrograde opposition challenges you to see what you’ve built to keep yourself where you are, doing what you’ve always done, saying what you’ve always said, being who you’ve always been…even though you say you’re committed to having something new and different for your life and your lifestyle. Through the awareness that is available to you during this , you are able to begin to transform your mindset, your beliefs, your communications, and your practices in order to grow into the life you say you’ve always wanted to live.

This transit of Taurus Sun opposite Scorpio Saturn Retrograde is also making itself known on a collective scale, as long-held institutions – governments, corporations, schools, etc. – are all being challenged to see how their ways of doing things may actually be getting in the way of their positive growth and expansion.  They, too, need to find the balance between what they say they want to be or do and the rules and/or structures (or lack thereof) that they have in place that help or hinder their effectiveness.  Pay attention to the changes happening around you, as they may affect your choices and steps in making the changes you want or need to make for yourself.

With that all said, are you ready to put your money and resources where your mouth is?  If so, now’s your time to invest in yourself and renovate your comfort zone.
