The Gemini New Moon occurs at 7.35° Gemini at 11:41a PDT today, 28 May 2014.
Gemini is an air sign that I like to think of as the student energy of the Zodiac. This is the sign of childlike wonder and curiosity – the energy behind the kids that frequently ask “why?”, “how?”, “what is it”, and other popular simple questions used to gather information and expand their base of knowledge.
Children ask a lot of questions because they are trying to understand the world around them and figure out their place in it. Ideally, that curiosity doesn’t diminish as we get older. It is important for us to continue asking questions as attentiveness and inquisition prevent us from taking the ideas and information within us and around us for granted.
This 2014 Gemini New Moon occurs at a time when there isn’t much earth energy to stabilize us. In fact, the only body in an earth sign right now is Pluto Retrograde which is busy destroying stuff – not really a good place to look to for steadiness. Here’s the breakdown of which energies are where at the time of the New Moon:
Air: Sun, Moon, Mercury, and Mars – our emotions, thoughts, communications, and actions are rather objective and logical at this time.
Water: Chiron, Jupiter, Saturn Retrograde, Neptune – we are doing our best to objectively heal our emotional wounds while transforming our emotional support structures so they truly assist us in expanding our capacity to give and receive love in order to live into a transcendent ideal.
Fire: Venus, Uranus – we are being called to embrace our individuality and using it to make unique contributions to the greater whole.
Earth: Pluto Retrograde – tearing down the structures, systems, and institutions that no longer serve us to make room for what is new and true.
The 2014 Gemini New Moon is calling upon is to embrace new ways of thinking and communicating. The world around us is changing so much so quickly, it is almost impossible to continue thinking the same thoughts we’ve always thought, or to speak the same way we’ve always spoken, or to reason the same way we’ve always reasoned. Many of the old ways of going about these basic everyday functions is quickly becoming obsolete, and some of you may be very frustrated by this reality.
You may also see this in the way news travels. Mainstream media is finding it harder to keep up with the events in our communities and in the world because of social media. Their only job now is to create a centralized (some may say controlled) message for the people who don’t hear about things when they first happen. More and more people have the tools they need to find and report what is happening around them and to share it with others.
This is where the Gemini New Moon affects you personally. It is a realization that you really do have the ability to write your own life story – to create your own journey, to choose your own adventure. Your words have amazing creative power, and they give you the ability to not only think and speak yourself into a new future, but also to help you see your current circumstances in a new way and to reframe your past in a different and healing light.
Implementing this new mindset and outlook on your life may prove easier said than done, though. The Gemini New Moon (Sun-Moon conjunction) occurs in exact square aspect to Neptune which is at 7.55° Pisces today. This is a strong indicator that as you realize just how much power you can wield with your mind and your words, your rose-colored view of certain aspects of your life may fall away, forcing you to face the areas of your life where you may be have been deluding yourself. These delusions may be around being a victim to others or to your circumstances. They may be around a perceived lack of options or possibilities. They may be you beginning to recognize the detrimental self-sacrifice that occurs in your acts of service to others.
Whatever the case for you, realize that with great power comes great truth and great responsibility – once you awaken to and understand the fact that you really do have a say in the matters of your life, you also get to take the necessary actions to implement your new mindset as Mars – the planet of action – is at 9.49° Libra today, within trine orb of the Gemini New Moon. Taking actual, practical steps to communicate your new thoughts and ideas to others will be an important part of the process of letting go of any delusional ideals you may have about what your life should be. This is where some of the old school ways of thinking and speaking may actually serve you well.
Communicating as a way of implementing your new mindset is of paramount importance now, especially because Venus will be moving into Taurus later today (at 6:46p PDT to be exact). This will provide you with some much-needed grounding energy. However, notice that this stability will come to you in the form of partnerships, one-on-one relationships, and aesthetically pleasing and peaceful environments. Therefore, the verbal and intellectual exchanges you share with your companions and partners of all kinds will be valuable resources in helping you shift into new ways of thinking and communicating.
In other words, in order to make this transformation happen, you need to actually talk to people! Have conversations. Reach out and meet someone for lunch or dinner.
