***Author’s Note***:  Mars entered Scorpio at 7:25p on the 25th of July, and I’m just now getting to this blog post.  I’ve been doing a great deal of writing for the book and a great deal of work in the field, so I apologize for the delay as Mars in Scorpio is an especially important player in what is happening in our lives and in the world right now.  Let’s get to the info!

Mars leaves the sign of Libra where it’s had an unusually long run taking actions to restore fairness and justice in matters since December of 2013, and enters the sign of Scorpio at 7:25p PDT on the 25th of July 2014 where it will be taking very clear and decisive actions now through the 13th September 2014.  It makes this transition only three days after the Sun enters the grand stage of Leo.  Mars in Scorpio will surely and quickly make its presence known on that stage.

Mars in Scorpio has a reputation for being rather intense.  This reputation is well-founded.  Scorpio is a sign that deals in extremes – all or nothing, yes or no.  There is no gray area with Scorpio, and that’s the way it likes it as it inherently knows that there can be trust established where and when things are clearly-defined.  With Mars – the planet of action and activity, the “warrior” of the Zodiac – in this sign, things get very interesting.

After a few months of doing things to restore balance, fairness, and justice to situations and circumstances, and in this current astrological climate, Mars in Scorpio now tries to force all parties involved (and possibly even non-involved) in any unresolved conflicts to choose a side.  This serves two purposes:

1)    It forces any undecided people/parties already involved to get clear on where they stand.

2)    It forces any uninvolved parties who want to get involved to choose a side in order to be involved.

On one hand, Mars in Scorpio is great because it greatly increases transparency, efficiency, and trust in the matters at hand as result of clear-cut decisions being made.  There are fewer considerations – less gray area, less fogginess, and therefore less uncertainty for all parties involved.  This simplicity helps you figure out where to invest your time and energy, and (since Scorpio is a water sign) your emotions as well.  You may find that you to choose one option from the newly-narrowed list of options available, or you may choose to abstain from the choice and the situation altogether.  You may become more clear about your direction in life as result of your newly-made choices.  The choices made may not only change your life, but transform your experience of life for the better.

However, the dark side of Mars in Scorpio (which is often the one that shows up) is that it may thrust people into decisions they may not want to or be ready to make.  By pushing people to choose which side to stand on, they may feel overpowered, bullied, and/or manipulated by the presence of Mars in Scorpio.  Resentment can build in times like these, and when efforts are made to coerce people into certain behaviors and positions, there is no underestimating the emotional power that can be generated through these types of ultimatums.  For the people and parties involved, there are certain to be hurt feelings, disappointments, and possibly some deep emotional-spiritual wounds as choices are made.  Expectations may not be met as parties reveal their true emotional loyalties – to one side, the other side, or themselves.  You may find yourself on one, the other, or both sides of this experience during the next 7 weeks.

Mars in Scorpio isn’t exactly one to bring issues to resolution one way or another as quickly as possible.  In fact, Scorpio is known for its stealthy patience, and can wait as long as it needs and wants to in order to get what it wants, especially when it comes to vengeance.  If you’ve betrayed the trust of one of the parties involved in a conflict or argument, beware – you will receive payback, and it may come at a time or in ways you least expect it.  It is very important that you don’t take your own actions or decisions during Mars in Scorpio for granted, as you may find yourself stepping into a trap that you didn’t expect would be set for you.  Consider each of your actions and choices carefully – more carefully than usual – during Mars’ run through dynamic Scorpio.

Important transits of 2014 Mars in Scorpio during  August 2014:

  • Mars squares Jupiter in Leo on 8/1, challenging the growth and expansion of self-expression (or ego-expression) as extreme and decisive actions are taken.  These actions are likely emotion-driven on the part of Mars, and Jupiter may find that its larger-than-life (and usually positively intended) presence is being used to bring an increased amount of attention to Mars’ behaviors.  This transit will be felt from 7/26 through 8/10.
  • Mars squares Mercury in Leo on 8/2, which may bring some interesting if not incendiary communications to the fore.  Mercury in Leo likes to make sure its words and ideas are heard and acknowledged, and it will take steps to make sure that its thoughts and opinions are heard and known.  This transit will be felt from 8/1 through 8/5.
  • Mars trines Neptune in Pisces on 8/7, and parties may try to justify their actions or behaviors through an idealization of their positions or plights.  This is likely to be a display of propaganda/manipulative behavior at its finest – both in collective and personal matters!  From 8/2 through 8/12, there is no such thing as taking something too far in order to plead a case.  This may be emotional drama at its finest…or worst.  You may be hard-pressed to believe any of what is presented as much of it is likely to be grandstanding.  But what you could trust is anything that attempts to transcend the conflict(s) without necessarily choosing a side.  Giving love and peace a chance may actually prove to be the best and most True choice available.  This transit will be felt from 8/2 through 8/12.
  • Mars sextiles Pluto Retrograde in Capricorn on 8/15, and this may prove to be a tipping point day.  As Mars in Scorpio takes actions in (emotional) extremes and Pluto – the ruler of Scorpio – clears out more obsolete societal institutions and structures that people have become emotionally attached and accustomed to, this simple sextile aspect could prove to be the ultimate undoing of how “things have always been done”.  This transit will be felt from 8/10 through 8/21.
  • Mars trines Chiron Retrograde in Pisces on 8/23, and this could be a day in which decisions are made that re-open some deep emotional-spiritual wounds.  Once opened, the experience could go either way – great healing could begin…or great pain could become even greater.  This transit will be felt from 8/18 through 8/27.
  • Mars conjuncts Saturn in Scorpio on 8/25, and this is one doosy of a conjunction.  Any material, physical, and/or emotional structures already in place to protect or defend emotional interests will be put to the test today.  Protective or defensive structures or boundaries that need to be put in place may be established and made clear during this time.  Any efforts to clear away such structures or overstep these boundaries may be extremely disruptive if not destructive.  This conjunction could set up and/or result in a major transformative event.

Hang in there as Mars in Scorpio is sure to take us on quite a rollercoaster.
