Chiron in Pisces turned to direct motion at 3:43p PST on Sunday, 23rd November 2014.  On its own accord, we would apply all we learned during the retrograde to the healing of ourselves, others, and All-That-Is.  However, when factoring other astrological details of the day, this stationing of Chiron in Pisces occurred on a day when collective healing was a far more noble intention than the actual results.

When any planet is retrograde, the effect is that of witnessing events around you and shaping your own views, beliefs, and behaviors from what you see or experience through those events.  Often times, retrogrades are a call to become more conscious of and present to what is happening in the here and now rather than trying so hard to hold onto the past or to prepare for the future.

When a planet re-enters direct motion, what we’ve learned during its retrograde gets to be expressed from ourselves out into the world.  Those afore-mentioned views, beliefs, and behaviors?  They make themselves outwardly known through our words and actions.

In this case, Chiron is the planetoid/asteroid known for being “The Wounded Healer”.  Chiron is the ruler of the sign of Virgo.  Virgo is the sign that represents the day-to-day activities, services, routines, systems, and processes that make everyday life work.

In an individual’s chart, Chiron usually represents where one is really good at providing healing or solution-based efforts because they know first-hand – it’s where they feel most damaged or dysfunctional.  The Chiron native approaches healing others and situations in the way they would want to have their own problems “fixed” or their own wounds “treated” and “healed”.

Chiron in Pisces indicates that the wound is in the ability to recognize the collective Oneness in our everyday lives and activities.  There is a sense that there is a wound or a dysfunction in All-That-Is – that the awareness of connection and unity of all beings with all things is wounded.

During Chiron in Pisces’ months of retrograde motion, we were given an opportunity to witness all the ways in which we divide ourselves by hurting each other and hurting our world, and therefore, hurting ourselves.  We were able to witness and become present to the impact of the past upon our present and had chances to learn how we could take steps now to begin creating a new, unified, and peaceful future.

Yet in the case of 23rd November 2014, the legacies of racial and religious dysfunction were on full display within 48 of Chiron in Pisces’ stationing direct.  Instead of peaceful approaches and steps being taken toward healing these wounds of racism and religion, we instead were able to witness the staunch resistance some people have to allowing change and/or Oneness to occur.  There are so many people say that they want the status quo to change, yet their beliefs and behaviors say otherwise.  As result, Chiron in Pisces direct provided us with an opportunity to witness the destructive power of past wounds left unhealed and disregarded; past problems left unaddressed and unsolved.
Within the last 48 hours, we have witnessed:

  • A grand jury in Ferguson, MO, USA choosing not to indict a White police officer in his shooting of a Black teen – an act that is seen by many as a racially-driven and racially-divisive act of excessive police force. Though there are peaceful protests occurring, most of the attention is on the rioting and looting and other acts of violence that ensued shortly after.
  • Israeli legislature has a bill poised for passage that would officially declare Israel to be a Jewish state and the Jewish homeland, further alienating any other faiths that reside within its nation’s borders.
  • Two suicide bombings in Maiduguri, Borno, Nigeria are suspected to have occurred on the directive of Boko Haram, a militant group in the West African nation.

That’s just three of the events within hours of Chiron in Pisces’ turn direct.  Political drama worldwide seems to have heightened in the last couple of days as well (U.S., Hong Kong, Iraq, Iran…).

At the moment Chiron in Pisces stationed direct, it was in square aspect to Ceres and Venus in Sagittarius, sextile aspect to Pluto in Capricorn, semi-sextile Uranus Retrograde in Aries, and quincunx Juno in Leo.

  • The squares with Ceres and Venus indicate that the hopes for emotional-spiritual healing and the ideals of Oneness adversely challenged both personal and collective value of Truth and authenticity and the desire for an earnest experience of those qualities through peaceful partnership. One or both sides of each of these conflicts had no intention of applying practicality or logic to making a collaboration or compromise work from the get-go, making the hopes and ideals for Oneness extremely unrealistic and giving fuel to feelings of victimization and oppression instead.
  • The sextile indicates that Pluto’s influence encourages the clearing out of the age-old historic and traditional institutions that no longer serve. Even though the damage and violence that ensued seemed to be pointless, it actually served a purpose in making it clear that these problems are embedded in the social and cultural fabric of these regions and that it is well-past time for these victim-perpetrator dynamics to be completely transformed.  It also revealed just how grossly inept the social and governmental powers-that-be have been and still are in finding effective, long-term solutions to the long-rooted problems of human injustice based upon race and/or religion as many of said institutions depend on these inequalities and injustices continuing in order to sustain themselves.
  • The semi-sextile indicates that, sadly, rebellious action was going to occur no matter what happened. Through Uranus Retrograde in Aries, people are awakening to their desires for autonomy, individuality, and independence from institutions and organizations that don’t recognize their pain of separation or alienation and their need for the emotional healing of their sense of connection and belonging.  People feel victimized, and the natural progression that occurs through semi-sextile aspects made it clear that the victimization energy of Chiron in Pisces would lead to the rebellious energy of Uranus.
  • The quincunx indicates that those who feel emotionally and/or spiritually victimized, outcast, or alienated feel a commitment to make themselves known despite efforts to suppress, avoid, or ignore them. Juno in Leo reveals a commitment to bringing things to Light, and in these cases, one or both parties involved are intent on placing their emotional pain on full display so that their needs may be acknowledged and attended to now.

So…what now?

My tweet for Chiron Direct in Pisces yesterday was the following:

“Apply all you’ve learned about healing yourself to help others heal, too”

In the spirit of that tweet, I invite you to take this project on for yourself today and moving forward:

  • If you felt emotionally and/or spiritually wounded or victimized in your life and your wounds have been healed, ask yourself how you healed and overcame that pain.
  • Ask yourself if you currently feel wounded or victimized, then ask yourself what you would want to have your wound(s) healed.  If you could be provided with anything to have your pain healed, what would it be?
  • Then ask yourself if your solution is inclusive of everyone else (and I mean EVERYONE else). Could your solution really be made inclusively and practically available to everyone?  If it is, great!  If it’s not, then ask yourself how you can make it practical and inclusive of everyone and anyone else who feels victimized or alienated.
  • If you can’t find a practical and inclusive solution, ask yourself if you are playing victim in order to avoid taking responsibility for your part/role in the existing conflict.  Are your own beliefs and behaviors as much of a problem as the injustice you are rallying against?

It’s not an easy inquiry.  It may require you to confront your conditioned beliefs and behaviors.  It may also require you to confront your own prejudices and hypocrisies as well as the prejudices and hypocrisies of your family, your friends, your community, your religion, and your political party.  It may even require you to put aside your ego as you question the foundations of your self-identity while considering others beyond yourself.

Yet I believe it is a challenge worth taking on if we are ever going to face, heal, and move beyond this drama that continues after centuries of lies, deceit, injustice, hypocrisy, victimization, and violent conflict.

History doesn’t need to keep repeating itself, people.  It’s time to stop the bleeding.  Start with yourself, then help heal your fellow beings.

We can change this…if we really want to.
