Venus entered the sign of Leo at 8:33a PDT on Friday, 5th June 2015. As it did, it shifted the focus of our one-on-one relationships to from how we emotionally nurture and care for each other to how we acknowledge and bring attention to our own and each other’s unique self-expression.
Having Venus in Leo produces an interesting dynamic because it almost forces us to look at the people in our lives and how they respond to the brilliance of our individual expressions of Light. It also gives us the opportunity to recognize how we respond to the brilliance of others’ individual expressions.
Each of us needs to be able to express our individual creativity and brilliance fully. This is where many of us often sell ourselves short. We look to others to validate us or to approve of our individuality and creativity rather than taking initiative to shine. We may give a little taste of what we have to offer, but then we may look to others to give us acknowledgment and/or attention as encouragement to continue our self-expressive behavior.
Yet this 2015 Venus in Leo isn’t only about finding those who are acknowledging and celebrating your brilliance.
Venus in Leo can also represent our recognition of those relationships and partners who do not acknowledge and celebrate our fullest brilliance. When we have partners and companions and relationships with people who say or do things to diminish us or to make us play smaller or shine less brightly, we get to look at these as well. This Leo Venus period gives us an opportunity to look at how these relationships and partnerships may detriment or oppress our expressions of brilliance, and how this oppression is often self-imposed. For some of us, when we don’t receive positive affirmation for our expression, we may choose to diminish our Light some if not withdraw from the spotlight altogether.
This 2015 Venus in Leo was highlighted through its first transit after entering the sign. In the Crowley Thoth tarot deck (the deck I use for my client sessions), the Ten of Wands – the “Oppression” card – represents the energy of Saturn in Sagittarius, which has been coming up frequently in client readings in the last few weeks…probably because Saturn is actually in Sagittarius right now (currently retrograde)! Leo Venus made a trine aspect to Sagittarius Saturn Retrograde exact at 11:23p PDT on 5th June helping to bring attention to certain relationships in your life – the relationships in your life in which you feel held back, held down, or pressured to do things against your will. These are the ones in which you are not being fully authentic with yourself and/or others in some way. With Saturn in Sagittarius currently in retrograde motion, the energy of this Venus-Saturn Rx trine was trying to force you to change course wherever you are attempting to move forward in or with partnerships or relationships that are not aligned with your authentic self. It may not have felt good being awakened to the truth of one or more of your connections, but it really was for your highest good as it gave and continues to give you an opportunity to see who supports and encourages your authenticity and who encourages you to maintain pretenses and façades in your self-expression.
The last 5 days have likely moved you into greater awareness of the relationships you have in your life, and which ones really want to see you step into and maximize your brilliance. They may have also pushed you to see which relationships may be pushing or pulling you away from your highest and most brilliant individual self-expression.
This events of the last few days and throughout these next few weeks that Venus in Leo may also be messages that you may not be making the mindset changes you need to be making in order to move yourself forward. If you are noticing a mass exodus of friends and companions are making progress on their goals and moving on to growth, expansion, and positive or productive results in their lives, you may want to consider that you may be the one who is doing the holding back and holding down of others or that you may not be shining your Light as brightly as you could be.
You may also want to notice your resistance to any feedback from others that challenges you to think, act, or express yourself differently than you have been before now. If you are consistently complaining about certain aspects of your life yet not taking actions or voicing your thoughts in order to implement those changes, you may notice that some of the people in your life may be distancing themselves from you because they are no longer willing to deal with your stagnation. Consider the possibility that they actually want for you to shine creatively and brilliantly, and that you may be the one refusing to do so.
We are also currently experiencing a Gemini 5 universal energy, numerologically speaking. Gemini 5 is an energy that is playful, fast-moving, and has an insatiable need for mental stimulation. Things tend to move and/or change quickly and often under the influence of Gemini 5, so any shifts that are occurring in your relationships may seem to have come up suddenly or unexpectedly. This numerological energy also represents a shift in mindset or intellectual structure. The ideas you have built your beliefs and opinions upon are likely undergoing major shifts and changes, forcing you to question the integrity of the opinions and beliefs of others as well as your own.
This questioning of your own and others’ beliefs and opinions is a critical component of your assessment of the relationships in your life as the intellectual and philosophical differences between you and your companions/partners may be coming to Light, challenging you to make changes in the relationships themselves or to make changes in how often you interact with people. Pay attention to whom and what is challenging you right now as this may be the Universe trying to let you know who and what doesn’t align with who you truly are and are becoming…or to the point of the last paragraph, they may be frustrated by the fact that you aren’t making any changes in your life.
Venus will be in the sign of Leo twice during 2015. Its first run (the current one) will last from 5th June through 18th July. Its second run is due to a Venus Retrograde period which starts in Virgo on 24th July and moves Venus backward into Leo from 31st July until 6th September when Venus moves direct through Leo until 8th October 2015.
