Hearts Afire 2At 9:50a PDT on Tuesday, 5th April 2016, Venus leaves behind its desire to find partners in the collective Oneness of Pisces, and moves into Aries where Oneness takes on a whole different meaning – all about “number One” or the self. Under the influence of Venus in Aries, partnerships tend to be ego-driven, self-focused, and tend to require a lot of action and excitement to keep the fires of passion alive.

However, we need to clarify a couple of things before delving into Venus in Aries.

The first thing we need to clarify is that partnerships are not limited to romantic partnerships. These can be partnerships of any and all kinds. Anything which involves two people who are expected to work together or interdependently is a partnership.

The second thing we need to clarify is that partners do not need to be joined at the hip doing everything together. Some of you may prefer that. However, some of you may prefer a tag-team effort in which one person does their part then hands off the next phase of the project to the other person for them to do their part, OR you may even do things completely separate of your “partner”.

With those truths established, let’s now take a closer look at how Venus in Aries’ complicated partnership energy may manifest itself in your everyday life.

Aries is an initiative, independent, individual energy. Ruled by Mars, it is all about taking action first and foremost. When I say first and foremost, that includes leadership. Aries must go first because it’s not going to follow anyone else – it leads by default.

Venus is the ruler of Libra, Aries’ opposite. It is partnership in all its forms as a means of balance, equality, fairness, and justice. Libra is an air sign, so this is less about emotional connection and more about intellectual connection. Venus represents the balancing of ideas through diplomatic negotiation and compromise.

So it’s no surprise that Venus in Aries brings forth some complicated partnership dynamics.

The most obvious complication arises when one partner wants to do one thing and the other partner wants to go the opposite direction. The desire to move in two different directions creates a rift. This rift, thanks to Aries’ nature, is likely to be a very combative one. Each partner wants the other to be the follower – their follower. They both want to lead; neither wants to follow. They may end up going different directions as result.

There is also the complication which arises when the partners become competitive…with each other. Sometimes, this works out well as the partners challenge each other to greater levels of activity – levels which neither may have been able to pursue without the competitive push. At other times, this could be problematic as the partners may require conflict or competition as a staple in their relationship. Without a fight, they may find they bore each other to death.

Then there is the “buddy” manifestation of this energy. The partners must be active together – acting as a pair or team to get things started and keep themselves and their projects moving forward. However there are two ways the “buddy system” plays out:

  • Sometimes, this means two people doing things together. This is what most people would expect partnership to look like in this regard.
  • Other times, this may be two individuals who individually do their parts for their shared whole. One does their part while the other does their part. They don’t really share space or activity during the process, but they do contribute to each other’s parts and mutually benefit from each other’s activities.

Last but not least, we actually return to the first example…only with a twist. There is the separate individuals’ expression of this Venus in Aries energy, but instead of trying to make co-existence work, each of the partners has their own things going. They encourage and advocate each other’s individual pursuits. In fact, they may spend little if any time together…and this is likely by design. If they did spend time together, they’d probably kill each other. They are too combustible in each other’s company, yet they recognize there is positive logic to being paired with each other, usually for reasons which are legal, financial, or otherwise practical in nature but sometimes, they do it out of respect and love for one another.

This 2016 version of Venus in Aries will ask you to look at the various versions of partnership you have in your own life. All one-on-one relationships get to be assessed.

  • Which of your partnerships have you feeling like you’re a leader?
  • Which of your partnerships have you feeling like you’re a follower?
  • Which ones have you feeling like you’re a true partner – equally and fairly sharing the lead?
  • Which of your partnerships inspire you to pursue your passions?
  • Which partnerships challenge you to take bolder actions in your life (for yourself and/or others)?

Knowing what you’re working with help you recognize the ways you can best apply your creative and active energies in your interactions with others. You’ll want to use your energy wisely. 2016 is a 9 universal year, which makes it a year for phasing out what no longer works for you. If you find yourself wasting energy on fighting or resisting certain people or circumstances in your life, it may be time for you to redirect your energies elsewhere. If you find yourself being more passionate and creative with certain people, this may be the time for you to be more engaged with them. Any way you look at it, this 2016 Venus in Aries period is a great time to assess where and with whom your energies are best applied in progressing yourself forward on your chosen life’s path.

April 2016 is a 4 universal month, meaning you are looking to direct your energy into partnerships and/or interactions which give you a solid foundation for your life’s progression. If the energy you’re applying isn’t advancing you forward or producing positive results, you may want to redirect it into people and projects which give you more stability and focus.

Here are a few upcoming transits for 2016 Venus in Aries which may assist you in gaining the clarity you need to make the most of your creative and progressive energies:

Aries Venus trine Sagittarius Mars on 12th April – Partners either challenge each other to take bigger risks, learn, & grow for the better OR duel to the death for supremacy over one another.

Lunar Fire Grand Trine of Aries Venus, Leo Moon, and Sagittarius Mars on 15th April – By taking adventurous actions, you stand out brilliantly, launching yourself into new connections/partnerships aligned with your life passions.

Aries Venus trine Sagittarius Saturn Rx on 18th April – Is your partner really holding you back, or are they helping you focus and discipline your energy so you may reach your goal?

Aries Venus square Capricorn Pluto on 19th April – If you aren’t clear about how you’re using your energy or what you’re using it toward, you may find yourself burning through it quickly, leaving yourself vulnerable to others’ power and influence.

Venus travels through Aries now through 29th April 2016.
