The 2016 Scorpio Full Moon reaches its maximum phase at 10:23p PST tonight, Thursday 21st April 2016 – a 7 universal day, numerologically speaking. Yet in most of the rest of the world, this will be occurring early morning through mid-day on Friday, 22nd April – an 8 universal day, making this an exceptionally powerful Full Moon with a focus on the transformative power and influence of our emotions.
The Taurus Sun – which during a Full Moon phase is opposite the Scorpio Moon – brings forth a fixed earth energy which is all about the physical, material, and/or financial resources which sustain and maintain our lives. It manages our survival needs and defines the values, morals, and standards we live by to have those needs met easily, comfortably, and reliably. The Sun in Taurus is bringing to light the factual and practical realities of the resource needs which support our livelihoods and lifestyles. We’re each and all having to face some truths about what is needed vs. wanted, what is comfortable vs. familiar, and what is actually influencing our life choices.
Scorpio is a fixed water energy which doesn’t let its emotional guard down easily. It doesn’t like to be emotionally vulnerable, which makes the Moon unusually sensitive and responsive when it’s traveling in this sign. Since Scorpio likes to deal with matters in extremes because extremes are decisive – ‘yes’ or ‘no’, all or nothing – there is an emotional need to get below the surface of things into the deepest depths to make sure they can be counted on for clarity, certainty, and reliability. Scorpio likes to operate on these terms because these terms are definitive…and definitive can be trusted. When matters and resources aren’t clearly defined and in place, Scorpio can be as guarded and defensive as they come, not letting its emotional guard down, not even for a second.
Scorpio Full Moons are generally pretty intense, reflecting the light of the earth-bound Taurus Sun through the perspective of our emotional-spiritual depths. Where Taurus is concerned, as long as we’re getting what we need to survive and as long as those are needs are met in a comfortable (or at least familiar) way, we like to think we’re good. Yet the Scorpio Moon pushes if not forces us to confront how and what we feel about how our survival needs are being met, and this is where things can get complicated.
When the Taurus Sun’s light shines upon the Scorpio Moon, it demands that we confront the deeper emotional motives behind our lifestyle choices. It practically forces us to deal with how we really feel about our lifestyles and the resource choices we’ve made to get us where we are. Sometimes or for some of us, this may be a moment to dread. Other times or for others of us, this may be a time to celebrate.
For those who are dreading, it’s likely that you’re struggling with your resources or within your chosen lifestyle in one or more ways. This 2016 Scorpio Full Moon is an opportunity for you to come to terms with your true feelings about your current circumstances. Recognize that you may be staying in a physically, materially, or financially challenging position because you don’t feel emotionally or spiritually strong or powerful enough to leave it behind. Or maybe you’re living in extreme financial-material poverty or extreme financial-material wealth, and your circumstances don’t align with who you truly feel yourself to be. Maybe you want better quality resources in and for your life…or maybe you feel like you have too much and you want to simplify or downsize in order to feel like you have a better handle on the way you live your life.
It’s a rather fitting synchronicity that Earth Day is also on 22nd April. One of the tangible realities we may need to come to emotional terms with during this 2016 Scorpio Full Moon is how we have treated our planet to date. There’s a strong possibility that something will begin or occur under the influence of this lunar phase which leads us to a better understanding of the physical damage we have done to our planet. We may find out just how significant our imprint is in a very profound and notable way. It may very well lead us to ask about the quality of life are we creating collectively, and how we intend to take steps to improve it.
The one aspect/transit the Taurus Sun-Scorpio Moon opposition makes at/around its maximum phase is with Ceres in Aries – the Scorpio Moon is quincunx to Ceres, and the Taurus Sun is semi-sextile to Ceres (with Ceres leading). This indicates that the values that you’re living by and aligning with are directly contributing to your current lifestyle and livelihood choices AND your feelings about your current lifestyle may be encouraged/affirmed or discouraged/challenged by these values. There’s a strong likelihood that you may no longer feel aligned with the values and/or behaviors you’ve been living by.
This Scorpio Full Moon may be a call for you to release those values you’ve been holding for ones which better align with the deeper emotional-spiritual perspective of your life – a perspective which is emerging at this time. It may also be a call for you to release your emotional attachment to certain resource outcomes, accepting that more work may need to be done or a perspective shift may need to occur for you to accept your life as it is at this very moment.
The Scorpio Full Moon isn’t just about the have nots striving for a better life – it’s also about the haves. Some of you may realize that you may have all of the material-financial resource you need…yet you feel empty and lonely inside. This 2016 Scorpio Full Moon may help you recognize what is missing for you on the emotional-spiritual intimacy may need to be developed so that trust can be established, nurtured, and secured.
It begs the question…how do you REALLY feel about yourself and your life/lifestyle?
The overarching theme for this 2016 Scorpio Full Moon phase is that each of us get to learn how we feel about ourselves though the eyes of our livelihoods and lifestyles. As we face the realities of our lives, we cannot avoid the question – how do I feel about this?
There are other questions, too. How do I feel about my lifestyle? How do I feel about my resources and how I manage/use/wield them? How do I get what I need to survive…and/or thrive in my life? How do I feel about what I do in order to get what I need or want?
These next three days give you an opportunity to answer these questions for yourself. Each one of us has different needs, so what works for or applies to you may not be what works for someone else. You’ll need to ask yourself for yourself so you may have a better understanding about why you have the life you’re living…and what you need to do in order to have and live the quality of life you want and deserve.
Thanks so much for reading and sharing Signs and Numbers. Until next post…
