Venus entered the sign of Leo yesterday, Monday 11th July 2016, at 11:34p PDT. After a few weeks of assessing who emotionally supports and encourages us in our lives, we now get to figure out who acknowledges our unique individuality and our creative self-expression.
When Venus is active, equality, fairness, and justice – often in the context of partnership – are the order of the day. Venus likes to operate in tandem, often seeking another person to experience the present moment with. In the case of Venus in Leo, this gets interesting because equal partnership isn’t an easy thing for Leo.
You see. Leo likes to be acknowledged, and it’s difficult to get noticed if you have to share the stage with other people. Sometimes, even one other person may be too much! This is why Leo tends to make itself stand out – it wants and needs to make itself stand out from the crowd, with the intention that others will notice that it’s special in some unique way.
Usually, Venus in Leo is about finding or recognizing partners who acknowledge your light and allow you to shine, standing in your shadow until you’re ready to bring them out.
But this time around, it’s more about finding partners who help you find your light, possibly even sharing their light with you or giving it to you outright to help bring you out of the shadows and onto center stage.
The irony of this 2016 version of Venus in Leo is that with the influence of energies from Uranus in Aries (making a bold, unique, and possibly unexpected individual contribution to a collaborative whole) and Ceres in Aries then Taurus (self-value & personal lifestyle/sustenance values), there is definitely a self-interest component to this “shared” spotlight. And with July being a 7 universal month and August being an 8 universal month during this 9 universal year (numerologically speaking), there is definitely a strategy for this partnership – a plan that’s operating behind the scenes to make a play for power and eliminate the competition (a.k.a. – the partner) later.
Though it may be a good plan in theory, the most important thing to remember about this 2016 Venus in Leo is that partnering with someone else doesn’t necessarily mean that you’ll be the prominent member of the pair or that you’ll be able to take control of the partnership later. In fact, there’s a good chance that this time around, you won’t.
The danger in any possible arrangement you make in this regard is that you’re probably depending on someone who naturally shines brighter than you instead of developing your own light. What happens if your partnership ends, or worse, what happens if no matter what they say or do, they still outshine you? After all, you brought them in because their light seems brighter and they could help you shine. But if you can’t overcome their radiance or even score equal billing in order to get the acknowledgment you crave, what’s the point?
The point is…maybe this 2016 Venus in Leo is intended to push you to shine your own expression of light instead of depending on someone else’s to make your light more brilliant. Maybe – just maybe – you need to be around people who help you realize that you have your own light to shine and they may inspire you and/or encourage you to develop it in your own way.
You may also need to learn that you might be trying to shine in a way or in a place you’re not meant to shine. Maybe it’s not the right stage for you. Maybe it’s not the right time for you. And if that’s the case, it’s okay. This means you now get to go off and be your fully-expressed self you until you recognize where you can best be yourself and be acknowledged for your creative self-expression. This means instead of trying to upstage someone else or steal their spotlight, you get to find your own stage to star on. And there’s a good chance you wouldn’t set off on that solo adventure if you weren’t paired up with someone who shines brighter than you do.
And in another twist…maybe the point isn’t for you to be supported in shining your expression of light. What if you’re meant to use your light to help someone else shine?
So, what can we expect over these next few weeks of 2016 Venus in Leo?
- Be ready to compete with your partners for the spotlight, or prepare to share the spotlight unequally.
- Be ready to move on from where you are in order to find a place where you can truly and authentically shine your light.
- Be prepared for others to shine more brightly than you…and instead of trying to take them down, ask yourself how you can generously support them in doing so.
Who knows. Maybe your acknowledgment isn’t going to come from you being the center of attention. Maybe this time – in July-August 2016 – your acknowledgement comes because you’re helping someone else find and take their place in the Sun.
Venus is in Leo now through 5th August 2016.
Thanks for readings and sharing Signs and Numbers. Until next post…
