We experience our next Full Moon – the 2016 Pisces Full Moon – at 12:06p PDT on Friday, 16th September 2016 (24.33°). This is the Full Moon closest to the Fall Equinox, traditionally known it the “Harvest Moon” – a time for reaping what was sown about six months ago at the time of the Spring Equinox. This is a time of celebration of the seeds planted earlier in the year coming into their fruition. What we receive and experience now is the result of the intentions we actually set back then.
This is also a Harvest Moon that is happening on a 7 or 8 universal day in a numerological 9 universal month of a 9 universal year. In other words, this is not only a time of seeds arriving into maturity – this is also a time of routines and practices running their course, and systems and processes completing and/or fulfilling their purpose. On this Full Moon day (depending on where you are in the world at the time of maximum phase), you’ll either be asked to pause and reflect upon the current circumstances of your life and what needs to be brought to completion OR you’ll be asked to step in to your power by realizing and acting upon your ability to bring matters to completion in certain aspects of your daily routine.
Usually, a Pisces Full Moon reflects the light of the Virgo Sun, helping us see how well we incorporate our transcendental ideals into our practical lives. It gives us an opportunity to see if our daily practices – our health, wellness, and the functionality of our everyday lives – are aligned with the unconditional love and compassion and forgiveness we can feel when we become aware of our inclusion in the Oneness of All-That-Is.
Yet this 2016 Pisces Full Moon has a few of bonus elements that come with it.
For starters, this isn’t just a Full Moon – it’s a Penumbral Lunar Eclipse. That means that the Earth will partially come between the Sun and Moon, preventing the Moon from fully reflecting the Sun’s light for a short time.
As with all eclipses, we often don’t recognize what we have until it we lose it to the darkness (or our ignorance or oblivion). In this case, though we will see most of the Sun’s reflected light, we won’t realize the full reality of our lives and what either helps it work or keeps it from working until a crucial part of it goes missing or disappears altogether.
The Sun being in Virgo means the light being reflected by the Moon is coming from the practical reality and functionality of our everyday lives. What is working well, what is not working well, what is healthy, what is unhealthy…it’s all being revealed by the light of the Sun.
Yet in this specific case, we are experiencing the energy of a Virgo 9 Sun, which means the Sun‘s light is revealing either what needs to be completed or what is due to come to an end in our everyday life experiences. These completions need to occur in order for our lives to function well or in a more efficient, effective, healthy, and/or productive way.
Some of us may not realize what we need to release until we are without it.
Some of us may not realize what we need to release until it releases us.
Either way, be prepared for some aspects of your everyday life to come to an end, understanding that they’re ending because it’s time for them to end.
And to think the eclipse is only the first bonus.
The 2016 Pisces Full Moon is also in separating conjunction with Chiron Retrograde in Pisces at time the Moon is at its fullest. Chiron is “the wounded healer”, often revealing what we are really good at healing in others because we are usually wounded there ourselves. This is an ironic placement on two fronts – 1) because Chiron is the ruler of Virgo, meaning that it is opposing its native Sun, strengthening the focus on functionality, practicality, and wellness; and 2) with Chiron in retrograde, other people’s wounds are going to be revealed, awakening or increasing an awareness of our own emotional-spiritual wounds.
Pisces is a water sign, and the Moon is the emotion body. Therefore, the Moon is already especially sensitive on the emotional level in the sign of Pisces. With Chiron Retrograde in this sign and position, this makes each and all of us particularly sensitive to the aspects of our everyday lives which are out of alignment with our Higher selves and those aspects of ourselves and our lives which are emotionally or spiritually wounded or not functioning as well as they could be and need healing or repair.
This Pisces Moon–Chiron Retrograde conjunction indicates that whatever is obstructed then revealed through the eclipse is something which will contribute to either the exposure of our deepest emotional-spiritual wounds or the healing of them, and possibly both as we cannot heal what we aren’t aware of. This conjunction may bring forth awareness of our deeply painful wound(s) so that they may finally be healed, released, and left behind.
The third bonus of the 2016 Pisces Full Moon-Eclipse is that it forms the long side of an aspected Mutable T-Square configuration – the Virgo 9 Sun opposes the Chiron Retrograde-Moon conjunction, and both ends of the opposition are squared by Mars in Sagittarius. This T-Square will enable us to take actions which are more closely aligned with our most authentic expression of our inner truths. Many of these actions will be inspired by challenges to our usual ways of doing things, pushing us to grow beyond the limitations or familiarity of our usual everyday routines.
Mars in Sagittarius also reveals the seeking of new and daring first-hand experiences to figure out exactly what is and isn’t True for you or what is or isn’t in alignment with the practical reality of your everyday life. Mars in Sagittarius may play out on a number of levels:
- Actions intended to help us grow and expand beyond our current practices may reveal the real realities of our everyday lives – who we’re actually being, being, how we’re actually taking action, what is really inspiring us into action, and what is helping us both teach and learn how we may be in or out of alignment with our inner truths.
- Actions helping us recognize what or whom we may have outgrown, maxed out, and/or moved beyond in our lives.
- Actions helping us take steps to rectify situations and circumstances in our everyday lives which are dysfunctional or out of alignment with Truth.
- Actions which are responses of anger or frustration due to everyday practices being out of alignment with Truth.
However these actions occur in your life, they will do the talking during this 2016 Virgo Full Moon-Lunar Eclipse.
And there’s one more bonus – a “3-4-5” triangle involving the Virgo 9 Sun square (3) Mars in Sagittarius trine (4) Uranus Retrograde in Aries which is quincunx (5) the Virgo 9 Sun. This configuration shows us how information and/or feedback from the public is forcing the truth of matters to come to light and revealing where the everyday matters of our collective lives needed to be healed. It’s also revealing an assertive demand for the voices of all to be heard as people are responding to what appears to be a denial or an ignorance of public opinion. The people’s voices initially seem to be being suppressed, but thanks to Aries Uranus Retrograde, those voices are actually being heard loud and clear in unconventional and unpredictable ways that powerful institutions are having a difficult time blocking out or shutting down.
One very important detail to remember –
I often refer to the Virgo-Pisces axis as the ‘axis of service’. People with a lot of Virgo or Pisces energy also tend to play victim or martyr to their service tendencies. With the Virgo 9 Sun, the Pisces Full Moon, the Moon-Chiron Retrograde conjunction, and the Mars in Sagittarius T-Square, this event will be an opportunity for you to take responsibility for your part in creating your circumstances. You may not like what your actions, behaviors, and routines reveal about the everyday reality of your life, but you won’t be able to pretend you had nothing to do with creation or continuation of the circumstances you’re in.
If you own up to what is so, and if you’re willing to take responsibility for your current circumstances and take actions to do the work to make things healthy, well, and functional in your life, this can be a powerful time for you. If you’re unwilling to take ownership for your current circumstances, this could be a very bumpy ride.
As with all eclipses, the effects of this 2016 Pisces Full Moon-Eclipse will be felt for the 6 months or so as we reflect upon and release what no longer serves us in the remainder of this 9 universal year to make way for what we get to intend and plant seeds for in the 1 universal year ahead.
Thank you for reading and sharing Signs and Numbers. Until next post…
