Venus entered the sign of Aquarius at 6:51a PST on Wednesday, 7th December 2016. As it did, it ushered in a period in which individuals are coming together to redefine what it means to be part of society and humanity at large.
Aquarius is a fixed air sign, and is often referred to as the innovative, unconventional, and progressive energy of the Zodiac. Every one of us has a role and a purpose, and Aquarius awakens each of us to the roles we and others play, encouraging us to celebrate our differences and how we can apply them together to create an effective whole.
Yet because of its celebration of each and every one of us, Aquarius is also known as the sign of humanity and humanitarian efforts. It represents individuals coming together in community, collaboration, and collective creativity. Through Aquarius, we learn that our differences can actually bring us together as each of us can make a unique individual contribution to make to the greater whole. By bringing our unique individual contributions to collaborative efforts, we accomplish more together than we ever could alone.
Venus is often associated with aesthetic beauty (maintaining a peaceful and beautiful public face) and partnerships and one-on-one relationships of all kinds. However, its approach to these matters – unlike most of the popular archetypes out there associating it with love and romance – is actually focused upon the objective assessment of the fairness and equality between the relationship parties. Its attention to matters of fairness, justice, equality, and its efforts to bring both sides of any situation into a peaceful balance is often overlooked, which is why Venus’ role as a diplomat and an advocate for justice may surprise some of you.
Under Venus in Aquarius – especially under this 2016-2017 version of Venus in Aquarius – we are likely to see an unprecedented increase of individuals coming together for a common social/societal purpose or cause. These collaborations will likely be formed by verbal enrollment – through person-to-person connections. These personal interactions will be crucial in the development of these social movements, and these connections will strengthen them because they are formed through reasoning developed through diplomatic debate and discussion.
We may find that any partnerships or collectives formed during this time are formed with a strong emphasis on humanitarian issues and/or changing the societal status quo. And with Aquarius’ affinity for unconventionality, it wouldn’t be surprising if some partnerships are formed through methods or for reasons which break convention in some way. Social and societal evolution can make for some strange bedfellows, so be ready to see some unlikely alliances in the effort to create communities and societies which are as inclusive of as many people as possible as fairly and justly as possible.
But what may be the most important detail of this 2016-2017 Venus in Aquarius period (now through 3rd January 2017) is that these movements will be formed with intellectual and peaceful intention. The objective is to change minds and shift perspectives. Remember – Aquarius energy is progressive energy, so the intention of Venus in Aquarius is to move us forward together into the future as a unified human race. Any efforts to return us to what once was are likely to prove futile. If there is any violence or other forceful physical acts of lashing out, it is likely to come from those who oppose such social and societal evolution, who want to regress or retract any progress humanity has made.
There are two upcoming Venus in Aquarius transits of note during the remainder of the 2016 Sagittarius Sun Period:
- Aquarius Venus semi-sextile Pisces Neptune, most exact on 15th December – Social/societal movements may become a bit too idealistic in their aims. Delusional thinking doesn’t help the cause – the vision must serve a practical purpose. With a realistic approach to pursuing your vision of collective Oneness, there’s no limit to what can you can create as a collective whole.
- Aquarius Venus semi-sextile Capricorn Mercury, most exact on 20th December – With a common goal or objective, there’s nothing that cannot be accomplished together. There needs to be something to rally behind, and you may find it under the influence of this transit. THIS could provide the focus for an essential and effective movement – one that could become a modern social/societal phenomenon. Technology will be an essential tool in expanding awareness of this collaborative cause and effort.
There will be more 2016-2017 Venus in Aquarius transits to discuss in the coming weeks. In the meantime, consider what your unique contribution to your community, to your society, and/or to humanity can be.
Thank you for reading and sharing Signs and Numbers. Until next post…
