Mars – the planet of self-leadership, initiative action, and individual assertiveness – entered Taurus – the sign of lifestyle resources and comforts – at 4:34p PST Thursday, 9th March 2017. When it did, there was a shift in the intention behind our actions – from self-assertion to self-preservation.
You may notice that the intentions behind your actions has shifted. Previously focused on asserting your individual self-identity, you may now be focused on ensuring and securing the lifestyle which (you believe) supports your self-identity materially, physically, and/or financially. You will do whatever it takes to establish and sustain the lifestyle you want (and in some cases, need) to live.
For some of you, it’s a matter of comfort. For others, it’s a matter of survival.
The curious thing about Mars in Taurus – especially this 2017 Mars in Taurus – is that even though the focus is shifting to physical, material, and financial matters, it’s still all about you! This Mars position is about taking action in your own (lifestyle) self-interests.
That said, it’s not going to be an easy time. Some of us aren’t used to asking nor so eager to ask for what we want, let alone go after it. We often wait for the permission of others, or wait for others to give it to us. We don’t want to be too pushy or aggressive or selfish – we want to be nice and polite about it. When it comes to sustaining our physical well-being, or our financial security, or our material comfort, we rarely stand up for ourselves.
And thanks to the Pisces 4 Sun, we may also tend to want to either stay in our current comfort zones OR dream unrealistic dreams and goals for ourselves, aspiring to so much more than where we are, yet not being willing to do the work to get there. It’s almost like we’re waiting for our fairy godmother to suddenly appear and magically make everything “right” or “easy”.
This 2017 Mars in Taurus changes all of that.
You may notice yourself taking actions to either prevent your lifestyle from changing OR to force changes to happen in your life. Either way, you aren’t going to be allowed to wait around for someone else to do something about your lifestyle circumstances…and you may find yourself not wanting to be waiting. This energy of Mars in Taurus marks the beginning of a time for you to get up and do.

If so, it’s because you’re doing the practical work to implement the spiritual lessons and Higher Truths you’ve been learning. Implementation and practice make improvements. If you’re experiencing difficulties during this trine, it may be because you’re resisting learning and applying your karmic lessons. You know that old saying, “(The Universe) helps those who help themselves?” Get to work, grasshopper!
Aries Mercury semi-sextile Taurus Mars, exact on 15th March (4.37°) – It serves you well to actually listen to the words you speak, then take stock to see if your life and lifestyle actually align with it. If you’re thinking and speaking your truth, great! If you’re not, you’re going to realize it’s time to do something about that. You may need to start with changing the way you think and speak about yourself and your life.
Aries Venus Retrograde semi-sextile Taurus Mars, exact on 20th March (7.71°) – The more you assess your 1-on-1 relationships of all kinds, the more you may realize just how small (or maybe how large) your inner circle may be. You know. That inner circle of people who truly support and encourage you to take action to establish your independence? Yes. Them.
