Pluto in Capricorn began its 2017 retrograde motion on Thursday, 20th April 2017 at 5:48a PDT. As we know, Pluto in Cap represents the transformation of societal structures and standards.
When direct, this is a very powerful energy as the institutions and individuals with clear goals and objectives are strengthening in presence and power, while those of us with unclear or no goals and objectives at all OR those with outdated or obsolete objectives or are weakening and being phased out. Yet we tend to plug away doing what we’re doing as if the balance of power is not shifting and everything is status quo.
Now that Pluto in Capricorn has made its retrograde turn for 2017, we find ourselves with an opportunity to receive some feedback. In fact, the retrograde practically forces us to look at ourselves and to see the real state of our societal and individual goals, objectives, and operating structures. Retrograde energy is response, do-over, and second-chance energy. This is a time to not only reflect upon your recent actions and/or courses of action, but to have others chime in on their responses and reactions to your applications of power and influence, especially in the context of societal position. This is a chance for you to see how things are really progressing for you.
As we process the feedback we receive, we are confronted with the actual state of our professional and societal positions and progressions.
You may find the following questions coming up for you (or seeing them coming up for others):
- Who is really in charge of your life?
- Who is really in charge of our societies?
- Who really has the power and influence in the matters of your career and/or societal status?
These are crucial questions as Pluto in Capricorn enters its 2017 retrograde. This is an opportunity for some of you to not only receive much-needed feedback for your recent actions and/or courses of action, but also to begin applying that feedback. This may include changing course in ways you thought about doing but hesitated to do before.
Over the next five months, some individuals and powers-that-be will be revisiting their strategies. Some of them are just starting to comprehend their strength and power, with many of them not previously realizing just how much power and influence they had and continue to have. Now, with awareness, they’re (almost) ready to use it.
Meanwhile, others are just starting to realize that they may not have as much power and influence as they thought they did. They may finally be facing the cold, hard reality of the losses or regressions of their strength and power, and now they’re trying to figure out how to keep it and/or get it back.
On a more personal level, individuals are also revisiting their own power, especially in a societal-professional context. For many people, their goals and ambitions are changing. Their objectives are shifting. They are questioning the motives behind their own objectives, wondering if those motives are really their own or if they belong to their authority figures or their societal expectations.
This 2017 retrograde Pluto provides an opportunity for you to receive some insight about the effectiveness of your current life direction or ambitions. Are you really pursuing what you’re pursuing for yourself, or are you doing it for your parents…or your community…or for the money…or to compete or keep up with others?
If you’re doing it for anyone but yourself, it may be time for you to look at your goals and ambitions and redirect them in ways which better align with your authentic self-expression.
So…how do you know who’s in the positons of power and who’s not?
- Those who are pursuing paths of power which are rooted in authenticity and genuinely empower them are operating from courage, confidence, and clarity. These are the people truly in power and/or who are coming into power.
- Those who are pursuing paths of power which are rooted in expectation and pretense are operating from fear, insecurity, and ambiguity. These are the people pretending they have power and/or who are falling out of power.
There aren’t many transits for the 2017 Pluto Retrograde in Capricorn – at least not to start. In fact, other than a few lunar transits, the only major transit in the next four weeks is a trine with the Taurus 6 Sun on Tuesday, 9th May – an opportunity to for everyone to see where they each and/or all really stand in matters of professional and public standing, measured in terms of effectiveness, efficiency, and practical lifestyle resourcefulness.
In the meantime, use these next five months (until 28th September 2017) to look at your goals and ambitions and figure out if you’ve outworn or outgrown what you’ve been striving for. You may realize that it’s time to let go and/or move on…
…to seek your power elsewhere or in new and different ways.
