We experience the 2017 Taurus New Moon at 5:16a PDT on Wednesday 26th April, 2017 (6.45°).
Taurus is the sign representing what I like to call our ‘lifestyle resources’ – our acquisition, maintenance, or increase of the resources which meet our physical, material, and financial needs. These resources are also known as whatever we need to physically survive and/or to sustain our self-identities.
Because our survival (or what we believe to be our survival) is wrapped up in these resources, our personal values are often rooted in the acquisition, maintenance, and increase of these resources. Therefore, Taurus also tends to reveal what we value most in our lives and what we may be willing to do in order to keep ourselves alive physically, intellectually, emotionally, and/or spiritually.
Since it’s all about survival, Taurus is inclined to acquire, secure, and stabilize resources and values. It’s not a big fan of change. In fact, Taurus – more than any other Zodiac sign – is known for being as stubborn as they come…
…which is why this 2017 Taurus New Moon is likely to prove an anomaly or a challenge.
New Moons are symbolic of new beginnings and fresh starts, especially on the emotional level. This means that the Taurus New Moon can be associated with new feelings about our physical, material, and financial security and stability. This could be the beginning of a new chapter of provision if not prosperity for many of us.
However, the current 5 universal month energy (numerologically speaking) indicates that this new start comes with a twist:
It’s only accessible through change and the uncertainty which comes with change.
Yes, that’s right. Under the influence of this 2017 Taurus New Moon, Taurus’ biggest fear is its only path to finding the affirmation of its values and the access to the resources which give it the physical, material, and financial security it craves.
For many of you, the way you’ve always done things is no longer working and hasn’t been working for a while now. You may have had some opportunities to make some changes recently, yet you may have rejected them to maintain your status quo – to keep yoru comfort zone intact. Yet more evidence has come since then that your old ways and the values you use to justify them are no longer sustaining you in the type of lifestyle you either are living or want to live. Something’s got to change if you want your life to change, and this New Moon could be the catalyst for a new way of living.
The 2017 Taurus New Moon is the ultimate proof that change really is the only constant, despite Taurus’ efforts to prove the contrary.
This Taurus 5 Sun – Moon conjunction is one in which change is your access to everything you need or want. Therefore, it’s important to remember that when it comes to making changes, the first steps are always the most difficult to take. They require the most courage, and it will take a lot of courage for you to step into the unknown right now – to take risks you’ve resisted taking, or to change course to move in a new direction. These may not be easy steps, but they can be life-altering if you choose to take them.
What is begun during this Taurus New Moon will experience its first phase of fruition when the Scorpio 6 Full Moon occurs on 10th May. That Full Moon will be a very transformative time in which the steps you take now will begin to reveal the course you have chosen for yourself and your life.
The key words in that last paragraph:” …the steps you take now”.
Will you take steps in retreat, resisting or avoiding change; will you stand your ground to fight change; or will you take steps forward into change?
The choice is up to you.
A few things which may assist you in making your decision: the other transits of the day.
The Taurus 5 New Moon is just within 3° orb of a semi-sextile transit with Mars in Gemini at the time of exact phase, revealing the call to action we’ve been discussing. Its message is that if you’re really serious about having what you want, it’s time for you to act like it. Take action to back up your thoughts and words, but more importantly, take action to back up your values. Your values will lead you into and will be reflected in these actions. The good news is that you may finally break through any stagnation you’ve been feeling. The bad news is that your values will be on display for everyone to see as your actions will speak more clearly and loudly than any words you could say to explain them. Make sure you’re doing what aligns with your values, and that your values are aligned with your True self.
The Taurus 5 Sun-Moon conjunction is also within 3° orb of a quincunx transit with Black Moon Lilith in Sagittarius at the time of exact phase. This reveals that the changes being made (or forced) may indirectly trigger the emergence of your deepest, most repressed desires for your True self to be free to be fully self-expressed. This may force you to open your mind and make changes to your personal values in ways you’ve never done before…and to values and beliefs you may never have expected yourself to be open to or aligned with before.
Saturn Retrograde in Sagittarius is a major player on the Taurus Full Moon day. At the New Moon’s time of exact phase, Sagittarius Saturn Retrograde is trine the Mercury Retrograde-Uranus conjunction in Aries, indicating that the true nature of one’s obstacles to progress are being revealed, and possibly in a very public way. People won’t be holding back their sentiments – not one bit. This could be a very painful experience, but also an opportunity to adjust your path to align with factual truth or maybe even your True self more authentically. With the double retrograde energy in this transit, it would be wise to see where you may not have course corrected in the recent past and to note how this may be a second chance for you to make a change where you didn’t before.
Sagittarius Saturn Retrograde is also in square aspect to the Pisces Chiron-Venus conjunction, indicating that you may be awakened to the fact your progress is being hindered by emotional-spiritual wounds which have not yet been healed and/or forgiven. The challenge for you under the influence of this transit is to allow others to assist you in accessing those wounds so they may be healed, forgiven, and released so you may not only survive but thrive in your life moving forward. These others are likely to be other individuals, however they will be individuals who you feel a strong spiritual connection or bond, using mystical or magical methods OR they may come into your life in very mystical or magical ways. Even if you feel confronted about allowing them to contribute to your journey, the question will become which is more uncomfortable – remaining stuck where you are or making the changes you need to make?
The Pisces Chiron-Venus conjunction is sextile Ceres in Taurus, which makes Ceres quincunx to Sagittarius Saturn Retrograde. This reveals how healing the emotional-spiritual wounds supports you in making the necessary values adjustments which, in turn, help facilitate the larger lifestyle changes which need to be made in order to transform your life. However, it also reveals that Ceres indirectly either solidifies or removes the obstacles to your progress. This is fascinating because it reveals the power of choice in the matters at hand. It really is entirely up to you whether these life changes are easier than they could be or more difficult than they have to be.
All of these energies come together to assist each and all of us – individually and collectively – in making changes in our lives to move us forward and upward on our soul journeys in this lifetime. This is a call to take action and make changes which give us access to the resources we need in order to physically, materially, and financially support our True, fully-expressed selves in the world…
…and to do it, we must be courageous enough to embark on an emotional-spiritual transformation adventure.
If you’re ready, the Universe is ready. All you have to do is take a courageous step forward…toward change.
Thank you for reading and sharing Signs and Numbers. Until next post…
