Neptune begins its latest retrograde period in its home sign of Pisces at 5:10a PDT on Friday, 16th June 2017 (14.27°). As it does, it also begins a period in which – now more than ever – we need to keep our focus on our own dreams and how to pursue and fulfill them. This 2017 Neptune Retrograde in Pisces can assist us powerfully with that intention… by helping us become aware of how we tend to let ourselves be distracted.
Neptune has had a long run in its sign of rulership – since 2011, as a matter of fact. Throughout this time, Neptune has been especially powerful in encouraging many of us to dream dreams and pursue our visions for ourselves and our lives. It has also encouraged us to enter into, exist in, and even expand alternative realities… or at least entertain perspectives of ourselves and our lives which allow us to idealize certain belief systems, ideologies, and visions for the future without giving much support to their practicality and functionality. We’ve had our rose-colored glasses on for so long, we may have forgotten what reality looks like.
Retrogrades are feedback energy, and we now begin receiving our latest round of feedback for the choices we’ve made and the steps we’ve taken since 20th November 2016 when Neptune’s most recent direct period began. Now in retrograde, we get to see the impact of the fantasy world we’ve created and chosen to live in – a fantasy world in which we may be so far from the actual reality of the world, we may not know how to get back.
With Neptune Retrograde in Pisces, it’s definitely time to check our rose-colored glasses at the door.
- Some of us will experience this feedback on an experiential level.
- For others, we will experience this feedback on an emotional level.
- And for others still, we will experience this feedback on a transcendental level.
- Some of us will even receive feedback on two or all three levels.
Yet one thing is for certain – under the influence of this 2017 Neptune Retrograde in Pisces, each and all of us are getting feedback this time around. That’s all there is to it.
This will be a tough period for some, especially those of you who are good at avoidance, denial, or escape. The retrograde brings feedback that you’re usually able to dodge or shield yourself from in some way. Being forced to watch the playback of the movie script you’ve been living may prove to be emotionally overwhelming for you as you’re not used to being held accountable for your lack of accountability.
Yet for those of you who have managed to keep at least one foot on the ground over the last seven months, this could be a time when possibilities emerge and enable you to pursue your dreams in ways you never imagined before now. That one foot down helped you keep contact with reality while allowing your head to be up in the clouds, creating a vision for yourself and your life. Now may be the perfect time to take steps to make those dreams the actual reality of your life.
Retrogrades also bring second chances, and it will be crucially important for you to keep at least one eyeball on the real world. You may be presented with opportunities to step into the manifestation of your dreams…or at least on the path toward that manifestation. If you’re too busy being a victim to your circumstances or trying to be a martyr over what has proven to be a lost cause, you may miss your chance to make contact with the real world and make the connection which could bring your dream into reality.
But we still need to address the one truly (potentially) fatal flaw of this Neptune Retrograde period.
Distraction.
Because we may want to avoid the feedback, because we may want to keep our heads in the clouds, because we may not want to keep a foot in or an eye on reality, because we may be afraid of our own dreams actually coming true, we may be desperately seeking distractions from it all. This may find us tempted by opportunities to assist or accompany others in the pursuit of their ideals… at the expense of our own. Instead of embracing your own dreams and ideals, you may find yourself embracing those of others in order to avoid responsibility for your own. You may dive into acts of selfless service, overextending yourself just so you don’t have to deal with yourself and your life.
There is also the potential for the creation of a great deal of misleading information or misrepresentation to occur under the influence of Neptune Retrograde in Pisces. You may find yourself creating distractions from the realities you’re not wanting to face or the progress you’re afraid to make.
Either way, you’ll quickly learn that distraction brings just as many consequences as denial and avoidance. Don’t let yourself miss the good stuff because you’re trying so hard to avoid the bad stuff. You’ll need to be paying attention to what is really happening around you, not getting caught up in the drama of (or the avoidance of) what’s falling apart.
So resist the temptation to give in to the power of distraction. Be sure to get at least one foot on the ground and keep your eyes and ears open. Face reality and seek opportunity… because opportunity’s knocking, but if you’re not paying attention or if you’re avoiding answering the door, it may come in and knock you on your backside, ready or not.
There’s only two Neptune Retrograde transits occurring in this last week of the 2017 Gemini Sun Period:
Pisces Neptune Rx sextile Capricorn Juno Rx was most exact on 16th June (14.27°) – Others’ commitment to their ideals either inspires you to commit to your own or it intimidates you out of pursuing your own.
Pisces Neptune Rx sextile Taurus Venus, most exact on 20th June (14.26°) – Relationship/partnership matters get really real right now, which may be challenging if you’ve been idealizing or pretending everything has been okay… but it could also be amazing if you and your partner share a vision.
Neptune will be retrograde in Pisces now through 22nd November 2017 and will be in the sign of Pisces until 2024.
