Uranus in Aries begins its last retrograde motion in the sign of Aries at 10:31p PDT on Wednesday, 2nd August 2017. For most of the planet, this will be occurring on 3rd August – a numerological 3 universal day of learning, growth, and expansion. However, for most of North America and parts west of it, this will be occurring on a numerological 2 universal day – a day of companionship, partnership, and emotional support.
Uranus is the planet of eccentricity and revolution. It innovates and invents new things out of what already exists in the community or in the whole of humanity. Though it can represent people coming together, it can also represent individuals seeking to break from conformity or leave communities which do not align with nor welcome its unique individual self-expression.
Aries is the cardinal fire energy of initiative leadership. It tends to lead by default as it waits for no one and puts itself first and foremost, asserting its independence. Yet those who do not have the courage to lead the way or at least make their own way will often follow those with Aries energy.
Retrogrades provide feedback through whichever body is in retrograde motion. There are also second chances to adjust, correct, or change courses of action. If you feel you made a poor choice in becoming part of a community or aligning behind a particular philosophy, this may be your chance to change course.
Therefore, this 2017 Uranus Retrograde in Aries period will be a time for each and all of us – both individually and collectively – to receive indirect and direct feedback from our associates and from any communities, collectives, associations, or affiliations we may be part of regarding where we may best serve our communities if not the whole of humanity.
And through this feedback, we may discover that not belonging may be our best guide for figuring out where we do belong.
There will be plenty of information available to us, and much of it will be communicated and shared through both the emerging intellectual and technological resources and through the actions of those we are trying to reach and connect with. The numerology is especially interesting for this retrograde because it reveals that the majority of human kind is learning from our past and open to new ways of communicating and growing in a collective manner through a pooling of intellectual and technological resources. However, there will still be a need for one-on-one relationships to affirm our presence and power in the world – direct emotional connection will still have a place and purpose in the world.
It also reveals that what many organizations and communities are missing right now is that people are looking for support of their individual self-expressions and affiliations. People are seeking communities which embrace their uniqueness and individuality. They do not want to conform to a community’s standards or rules – they want to be supported in their individual expressions. People want to be independent and free to be themselves, whatever that may look like, AND they also want others to acknowledge, embrace, and appreciate them for what only they can bring to the collective table. Those groups seeking the agreement and assembly of the masses in their favor should understand that they cannot appeal to the masses at this time. If they expect conformation and allegiance, they’ll need to be prepared for demonstrations of advocacy and protest, petitions and public speeches, and acts of revolution and rebellion. The more organizations try to build their ranks under a particular ideology or belief system in order to implement or impose order, the more chaos will become the order of the day.
That said, those of us who have grown accustomed to “being sold to” by individuals and organizations and are often expected to belong to something that labels or defines us should also be prepared for said individuals and organizations to change their sales pitches and recruitment techniques. Just because the sales pitches are changing doesn’t mean that they’ve earnestly changed. Accountability is rather elusive at the time this article is being written, despite the strong desire for it. It’s coming… but until it arrives (on 21st August when Aries Uranus Rx trines Sagittarius BM Lilith and on 11th November when Aries Uranus Rx trines Sagittarius Saturn), be cautious of promises of evolution. If they say “they’ve changed”, chances are they haven’t… yet. It’s strongly advised to pay attention to the actions of those touting inclusion and belonging rather than their words.
That means that if we are to expect anything over these next five months of the Uranus Retrograde in Aries, it would be wise to expect the unexpected and look to actions rather than words both in giving and receiving communications. If you feel something isn’t right, trust those feelings. And if you aren’t sure about someone or something, give yourself permission to observe and assess those you may be considering association or affiliation with before making your choice.
Some important questions for you to ask over the next five months during this 2017 Uranus Retrograde in Aries period:
- Does your community serve your authentic self, or do they serve something that doesn’t align with your self-identity?
- Does the organization you are part of (or want to be part of) truly value and appreciate your unique presence and contribution?
- Do you feel that you serve a unique and important role in your community, or do you feel like an outcast struggling to find a role to serve in?
- Do you feel like you’re expected to follow another or others, or do you feel empowered and encouraged to lead or at least to be your unique and individual self as part of a collective whole?
This is a time to assess your environment and associations, both personally and professionally. Seek environments which make you feel supported in your individual self-expression and free to be all of who you truly are, fully and powerfully self-expressed.
if you aren’t able to find a group or community to fit into, you may want to consider creating one. This retrograde may be a call for you to collect data about what is missing in the world around you so you can create a solution (or at least a support structure) for yourself and others who may be seeking a similar environment to the one you’re seeking.
The only upcoming transit for this 2017 Aries Uranus Retrograde during the remainder of the current 2017 Leo Sun period is a trine with the Leo 9 Sun, most exact on 21st August (28.40°) – Feedback from the community helps you recognize what needs to be acknowledged as fulfilled and/or completed creative endeavors and projects. It also brings light to what needs to be created in the void of what has served its purpose to society and/or humanity.
By the way, the 21st of August is also the day Aries Uranus Rx trines Lilith (one of two afore-mentioned accountability days) AND the day of the widely-anticipated Leo New Moon/Total Solar Eclipse over North America – a day of powerful revelations/exposures of factual truth and intention (more about that in a future post). Just keep that in mind.
In the meantime, you can focus your energy on asserting your independence. Seek communities in which you can be your true, unedited self. Seek association with other free-spirited individuals who are looking to contribute to something greater than themselves without conforming to a system that denies their unique creative expression. Remember that where you don’t belong helps you figure out where you do.
Who knows. You may end up creating a place for yourself at the table of humanity.
Uranus returns to direct motion in Aries on 2nd January 2018, and completes its run in the sign a few months later, entering the sign of Taurus on 15th May 2018.
