Venus entered the sign of Libra at 3:11a PDT this morning, 14th October 2017. In doing so, it shifts the focus to the presence (or absence) of balance, fairness, and equality which exists in our one-on-one relationships and partnerships of ALL kinds. It also addresses how those qualities are perceived by the parties involved.
Libra is a cardinal air sign – bringing intellectual logic to matters of balance, fairness, and equality. Venus is the planet representing the presence and effect of partnerships in our lives – where and how we tend to find partners, and the role(s) they play in our lives. That said, Venus in Libra will heighten awareness of balance, fairness, and equality in our partnerships and other areas of our lives, and in doing so, will magnify both where these qualities are present and where they are not present. And though it’s an intellectual, logical energy, the effects of Libra’s energy could initiate emotional responses, active responses, or maybe even manifestations of something material or physical in matters of partnership and relationship. It all depends on where the Libra energy resides in your personal chart or in the chart of the event you may be involved in or affected by.
We may want to consider Libra’s call for ‘equality’ as a call for ‘equity’, though. Venus in Libra energy is one of those things where it’s not necessarily about partners or two sides of things being the same or having an absolutely even exchange – it’s more about both parties having the same weight or gravitas. It’s about respect, not tit-for-tat –both parties perceiving that they are not just giving, but receiving. Of course, in order for this balancing to work, both parties must also be willing to give AND receive. Though you might think that people are better at receiving than they are at giving, that’s actually not the case. It’s often the other way around, as people want to look like they are good, and good usually means giving. Yet both ways, it’s all depends on the intention behind the act(s).
We can tell when people are giving what they can from a purely generous and loving intention, and we can tell when people are giving with an expectation of return or exchange. We can tell when people are taking with no appreciation of what they are being given or when they have no intention of applying what they receive to the larger, greater vision they have for their life. We can also tell when people are receiving and applying what they receive to good use. This applies to gifts in many different forms – information, emotion, material-physical-financial resource, and simple soul connection with another human being.
This isn’t just balance in partnerships and relationships with people. This also refers to your relationships to ALL things in your own life. These are your 1-on-1 relationships with your own lifestyle, your job, your career, your home, your family, your community…
… and most important, with yourself. How do you feel about yourself? Are you making choices and taking actions which are fair to you, which bring balance and peace and beauty to your life?
This 2017 Venus in Libra is an exercise of mind determining matter – an exercise which demonstrates the powers of your personal perceptions and perspectives. Balance is in the eye of the beholder, and in this 2017 case, your perception of balance is paramount, especially in the face of our collective and individual polarities being amplified right now. Not only do your perceptions of what is balanced, fair, just or equitable in your relationships need be considered – there’s at least one other person involved whose perspectives and perceptions get to be considered as well. You’ll need to see both sides of the story for the reality to be balanced.
Balanced connections and balanced interactions have the potential to promote peace and beauty in our relationships to each other and everything around us. Yet what we may need to realize in these next few weeks is that these relationships and interactions are about recognizing and understanding where things are unfair, unjust, and unequal in our lives, in our communities, in our societies, and in our world – so much that serious steps need to be taken to bring balance to the inequities. This is where Venus in Libra may not be able to be as nice and diplomatic about things as it usually is. The rarely-seen hard edge of Libra may need to come forward and jump on the side of the (perceived) disadvantaged in order to bring the scales back into balance.
It would be extremely wise not to underestimate the ability to bring a balanced or balancing perspective to matters one person at a time. In fact, that may be how it needs to happen now. As people seem to be polarized by group think or a lack of individual awareness, our 1-on-1 exchanges may be the only way to open and shift each other’s minds to a new way of looking at the matters before us. If peace is what we truly seek, it seems it will have to come one person at a time… to start. Consensus will need to be built, and that comes through changing minds.
This 2017 Venus in Libra is determined to use our 1-on-1 interactions, partnerships, and relationships of all kinds to bring us to full awareness of where and how we are living with and/or through these imbalances, and how we can bring these matters back into balance by exchanging ideas and information with others which enable us to shift perspectives and take more peaceful, fair, and equitable approaches to the matters in our lives.
Over these next 3.5 weeks, use the energy of the 2017 Venus in Libra to recognize which connections, interactions, and relationships in your life are balanced, fair, just, and peaceful… and which ones are not. For those which are, how can you appreciate the beauty and balance of those relationships more? And for those which are not, how can you appreciate what their imbalances are helping you learn about yourself and the types of relationships or interactions you attract or choose, and what can you do proactively to shift that energy so you can begin experiencing balance and peace in ALL areas of your life?
