The 2020 Virgo Full Moon reached its maximum phase at 10:48a PDT on Monday, 9th March 2020 (19.62°), highlighting the distinction between fantasy and reality, delusion and clarity, vision and implementation, etc.
Virgo is a mutable earth sign. Think soft clay – rigid enough to take shape, yet pliable enough to be molded. Yet as the energy supporting this Full Moon, this soft clay isn’t as rigid. There’s too much water energy present this time around. The earth is having a difficult time trying to take any sort of clear and stable form…
…which is why there is a feeling of desperate seeking right now. We’re each and all are seeking the presence of some sort of solidity – stability, security, structure – in one or more areas of our lives; anything to help us feel like there’s something tangibly and/or experientially real in our everyday lives which are becoming increasingly fluid and intangible.
That heavier than usual water energy – a.k.a. emotional and intuitive presence – is due to the fact that the Pisces Sun is conjunct Pisces’ ruling planet, Neptune (18°) opposite the Virgo Moon at the time of maximum phase. The Sun’s light is revealing people’s emotional and visionary motives, and combined with Neptune’s tendency to put on “rose-colored glasses” of idealism, this combination is revealing all sorts of delusion and deception. The Pisces Sun energy is revealing the agendas and intentions behind people’s actions and plans by challenging them to “walk their talk”. If they really believe in what they say is their vision, they’ll align with those principles here on the ground in “the real world”.
Yet what we’re seeing is anything but that alignment. We’re seeing many people saying one thing and doing an entirely different thing. Yet we’re also seeing people trying to find solid footing for their visionary ideas, bringing people together under a unified vision. The question is whether or not the vision(s) they’re unifying under is something that can be made real in this current climate of divide and deception…
… which is why it’s perfect that this 2020 Virgo Full Moon is occurring on a 7 universal day (thought, analysis, rest, reflection, contemplation) in a 7 Universal Month in a 4 universal year (security, stability, structure, safety). This numeric energy combined with the energy of this Moon is asking us to “get real” about our dreams, encouraging us to think about – and possibly reconsider – our plan of action to help bring our dreams into the reality of our lives? After all, it’s one thing to have a dream or vision of what is possible, but it’s another to have a plan to actually make things happen. We have to earnestly look at and think about our current circumstances and figure out how we want to proceed toward our intended results in both our collective and individual lives…
… which brings up another very interesting question – what are your intended results?

And what steps are you willing to take to bring those desires manifest into the world?
These questions are also reminder that the Virgo-Pisces polarity astrologically represents the “axis of service”. Pisces represents transcendental service, often inspired by a desire to be One with All-That-Is and/or feeling a connection with a Higher power of some sort that interconnects us with everyone and everything; while Virgo represents pragmatic service, focused on doing the work that needs to be done to serve oneself and others in the context of everyday life – the mundane things that have to be done in the day-to-day of living life in order to sustain the health, wellness, and functionality of our physical bodies and our lifestyles.
This 2020 Virgo Full Moon is about recognizing that it’s not about serving only ourselves, and it’s also not about only serving others. It’s about serving both ourselves and others. The solutions we seek, the visions we want to realize – they don’t have to be a matter of either or. They don’t have to exclude anyone, even if they can’t include everyone. Yet the ideal is to serve as many people in a positive and productive way as possible. This is how we heal each other and ourselves and the world – through service which actually serves the purpose of bringing a vision of healing to all who choose to see it, embrace it, and work for it to be realized.
There are quite a few transits in effect at the time of the 2020 Virgo Full Moon’s maximum phase. It’s a bit of a “conjunction junction” this time around, so you’ll be able to see just how impactful this Full Moon energy will be and why.
Virgo Moon trine Capricorn Pallas Athena (18-19°) – Powerful emotions coming up around this stronger-than-usual desire to make realistic plans for idealistic visions. Notice that there may be a pattern here – when there is emotional investment in the plan, the pattern of upholding if not clinging to the plan and/or the status quo kicks in. If you look closely, you’ll see the pattern and you’ll see what it’s holding in place. You’ll also see the pattern in those who aren’t as structured often failing to establish a structure solid enough to counter the status quo. Yes, this is a trine which is often seen as a “positive” or “optimistic” transit, but I see it is one of those transits that’s a blessing-in-disguise as the pattern is revealed through the challenge… to those who are willing to look for it. In this case, it’s the revelation of the pattern(s), and if the numeric energies of the day are applied, someone(s) might be able to figure out the solution that breaks us free from repeating the past over and over again.
Pisces Sun sextile Capricorn Pallas Athena (18-19°) – Current circumstances bring light to the areas of our lives in which we repeat patterns of “success” again and again. These areas are being revealed to us now because they’re trying to show us where our success patterns are no longer producing successful results – they’re trying to show us where and how we need to change if we are going to create new successes in our lives. This is a call to move beyond the idea that the ways that have worked for us in the past will still work. The whole point of them not working now is because they don’t and won’t work anymore. Instead of fighting the facts, allow yourself to adapt before it may be too late to avoid “failure”.
Capricorn Pallas Athena conjunct Mars (15-18°) – Your future success depends upon how willing you are to allow yourself to see how you tend to strategize the fulfillment of your desires based upon your past successes. Doing the same thing you always do may get you more, but more of the same thing you always get. If you want different results than you’ve had before, you’ll need to do something differently than you have before. Different actions yield different results.
Capricorn Pallas Athena conjunct Jupiter (18-21°) – Your future success depends upon how willing you are to allow yourself to see how you tend to strategize the fulfillment of your desires based upon your past successes. If you want bigger or greater results than you’ve had before, you’ll need to grow beyond the tactics you’ve used until now. Are you willing to let go of your success formula in order to build upon your success?
