The 2021 Scorpio Full Moon reaches its maximum phase at 8:31p PDT on Monday, 26th April 2021 (7.10°). Scorpio energy is always profound, yet for this 2021 Scorpio Full Moon, it may seem more transformative than usual. During the maximum phase of a Full Moon, the Moon reflects the Sun’s light across the totality of its face. For this 2021 Scorpio Full Moon, there is a Taurus Sun + Uranus conjunction shining at the Moon – the Sun doing its radiating light thing, exposing all that is hidden, but Uranus bringing an element of the unexpected to the mix. This combination indicates that the Sun’s revelations of what lies at the root of people’s personal lifestyle values may not be what people may expect them to be, and the Moon’s reflections of those revelations may find individuals more emotionally and spiritually vulnerable than most may be prepared for.
Scorpio adds emotional depth, and in some cases, emotional darkness. Scorpio is the sign that represents our deepest, most intimate emotional and spiritual truths; and more often than not, those truths are kept in the dark, hidden from the view of others except for those we trust and feel intimately connected to. This 2021 Scorpio Full Moon is likely to bring the emotional and spiritual conditions we tend to keep below the surface into full view. These conditions are often labeled as “negative” ones – anger, grief, depression, disdain, displacement, and/or disenchantment with “the way the world works” or with the world is and our lives within it at this moment. It may also reveal the escapes, addictions, obsessions, and other coping mechanisms we’ve created for ourselves to get through challenging or confronting resource realities and/or emotional-spiritual stress. Yet these aren’t necessarily negative. Despite our frequent efforts to avoid expressing these emotions, expressing them often helps us move through and beyond them.
Taurus represents the resources we acquire to support our individual self-identities. It acknowledges our physical bodies and the resources we obtain to protect them. In other words, Taurus represents our survival needs, or in most cases, what we perceive we need to survive. These resources are usually of a physical, material, or financial nature… but not always. Sometimes, people will place more value on information or intellectual stimulation; others may value emotional or spiritual connection; others still may value experiences and adventures. Essentially, Taurus represents whatever we believe we need in order to live our lives as a reflection of our personal values.
Taurus’ energy is the reason the Scorpio Moon is being so exposed now. Under this Full Moon, we may be realizing that money, stuff, and sex aren’t all they’re cracked up to be. We may be finding that we’ve made major life choices rooted in values determined by external influences only to discover that from within ourselves, we want something different. If you look at current events, you may see how, as individuals, many of us are actually beginning to value things very differently than what we’ve been socially conditioned to believe has “value”. These energy dynamics may find us asking who our social values are actually valuable for, and do these values empower or disempower us in being who we individually and collectively are in and/or for our society and possibly our world?
There’s a great deal of vulnerability right now as result of emotional and spiritual realizations that our personal values may not align with what society says our values should be, and there’s a lot of vulnerability in admitting that to ourselves, let alone to someone else. That’s the one clear lesson under the influence of this 2021 Scorpio Full Moon – our survival needs and lifestyle desires may drive many of our choices and actions, yet our emotions let us know when our choices and actions are out of alignment with our deepest truths. We feel most vulnerable when we are pushed to acknowledge the truths we feel deep within ourselves, and many people are feeling vulnerable now.
As some people begin to recognize what their inner truths actually are, they’re experiencing a fear of themselves as they may not be as aligned with the values of their social circles, communities, or societies as they once believed they were – a fear projected onto others as fear of rejection by their peers and/or heroes.
Others are beginning to recognize how their long-recognized internal misalignment with the external is being revealed outwardly through their own behaviors and the sharing of their beliefs, and they don’t like feeling so exposed for who they truly are.
As result, we may see many of us clinging to our values for dear life right now. It’s actually a matter of clinging to our carefully-curated self-identities. Many of us have become incredibly if not unhealthily attached to our personal values because we perceive them as our outward definition of ourselves. Yet in many cases, people are eager to talk about their “morals” or “ethics” or their faith/religious beliefs… yet they don’t often talk about their money, their stuff, their sexual preferences and activities, and/or their actual everyday behaviors toward others. When there’s potential for these “secrets” to be exposed for the world to see, these can be deeply sensitive and vulnerable subjects. Under this 2021 Scorpio Full Moon, people’s most hidden emotional truths will be bubbling up if not explosively erupting to the surface. People’s dark sides finally being coming to Light in ways which help them begin to see themselves as not so “light”. This is what the Taurus Sun + Uranus is doing to the Scorpio Moon – revealing the emotional truths behind the physical, material, and financial façades.
Again, these “negative” truths aren’t negative. It’s more that they’re uncomfortable truths no one really wants to admit to for fear they will be rejected or refused, or that they’ll hurt or lose something or someone important to them in confessing them. We perceive them as negative because they make us feel too open, too seen, too known. We’ve been conditioned to believe we cannot be that open – that we must have some degree of self-protection or self-defense, that we must keep things hidden from others, especially those we want to connect with. We rarely realize how this controlling behavior actually cuts us off from the deep connections we most desire.
We rarely allow ourselves to be so open with our true feelings and emotions. Yet in doing so, we might learn that what we’re so afraid to have exposed or seen isn’t too much for others, that it isn’t too intense or too dark or too weak, or in some cases, too strong or too powerful. We may find we are most powerful when we allow ourselves to be most open and vulnerable, because it’s when we are most open that we are allowing ourselves to be found, seen, heard, and understood by others who can “handle” all of who we are, and through that, we may find the deep acceptance and unconditional love we may seek.
The numerology of the Full Moon’s maximum phase supports this emergence. This 2021 Scorpio Full Moon occurs on an 8 Universal Day for most of the Americas and all points west of them, and a 9 Universal Day for the rest of the world.
The 8 energy is very similar to the energy of Scorpio and its focus on power and influence, and in these areas, it’s likely the focus will be on how to obtain or sustain power and influence over others. The efforts may be controlling and manipulative, and what those trying to control may quickly realize is that the other parties involved will see those efforts for exactly what they are – controlling and manipulative if not exploitative. With the afore-mentioned Uranus influence, it won’t be surprising if there’s a lot of public relations/damage control done to quickly save face as it doesn’t take long for these manipulations and exploitations to become public knowledge with today’s technology. Yet remember, once you see, you can’t unsee. Use these revelations of control to not only watch out for it around you, but to also watch for it within you. Also take note of the influence material and financial resources have upon people’s choices and behaviors. After all, we are under a Taurus Sun.
The 9 energy can also be quite exploitative, so it doesn’t make the other world regions any less controlling or manipulative right now, but I’m fascinated by the 9 energy’s representation of fulfillment, completion, and closure under this 2021 Scorpio Full Moon phase. With Scorpio representing death and rebirth, I’m curious to see what will complete itself or be brought to a close or an end in order to enable new openings and emergences, and how quickly those cycles may occur. The Uranus presence encourages humanity to evolve and progress forward, so it should be an interesting Full Moon phase in that regard as more people call for their basic survival needs to be met not only as individuals or for individuals, but as and for a collective whole.
Both the 8 and 9 Universal Day energies are operating under a 9 Universal Month energy of authority, discipline, completion, and closure; and a 5 Universal Year energy of change and unexpected events along with a need to adapt to those changes in order to continue forward. We must remember that all of the power struggles, clashes, and endings happening now are happening in order to bring about much-needed and long overdue change in our communities, our societies, the world, and therefore, in our collective and individual lives. The only constant in All-That-Is is change – it’s time for us to accept that now.
And when it comes to our personal values, many of us are realizing it may be time for those to change, too. It’s time to accept the world is changing, and for us to figure out how to navigate this shifting social and societal terrain.
For more insights into this powerful 2021 Scorpio Full Moon, here are the major astrological transits in effect at the time of the Full Moon’s maximum phase:
(Taurus Sun conjunct Uranus) opposite Scorpio Moon (7-10°) – Surprising revelations make for intense moments in which some dark emotions may come forward – darkness which many people have tried to hide or gloss over, but can no longer avoid. This will be a very vulnerable time for many people as many people will feel exposed and uncertain as their emotional truths are revealed. Yet this will also reveal who can be relied upon, who can be trusted, and who truly has your back in situations which are important to you.
Aries Eris conjunct Ceres square Capricorn Pluto (24-26°) – There is a great deal of anger and resentment as personal values are challenged by demands for societal and systemic change. Some are defending their values with physical force, which others are defending their values through protest. All of these expressions only confirm that our current societal systems and standards will be experiencing major transformation in one form or another, and in some cases, those transformations have already begun.
Taurus Venus conjunct Mercury sextile Pisces Pallas Athena (15-16°) – Communications in one-on-one relationships of all kinds begin to reveal or serve to confirm emotional, spiritual, and/or subconscious patterns in one’s relationships.
BOWL: Sagittarius South Node sextile Aquarius Saturn sextile Aries Chiron sextile Gemini North Node (10-12°) – There’s a great deal of effort being made to move forward in alignment with past experiences. Yet as the societal and worldly institutions and structures continue to be exposed and forced to evolve, more individuals are healing their self-identity wounds, realizing their pain wasn’t their fault but the result of outdated social and societal standards. Now, more people are speaking their (re)opening or newly-opening minds as a way of pushing back against old wisdom which no longer applies. People are now asking for truly new approaches and seeking truly new experiences.
Sagittarius Juno Retrograde square Pisces Neptune (22-23°) – Your ideals may be challenged by your commitment to growth – a commitment affirmed by external experiences and your interactions with others as you’re challenged to be honest with yourself about your desire(s) for adventure and new/different life experiences.
SEQUENCE: Aries Chiron semi-sextile Taurus Mercury semi-sextile Gemini North Node (10-11°) – As people begin to experience healing of their self-identity wounds, they also begin to reassess their personal values, which may find them opening their minds to new ways of thinking and speaking about themselves and their lives.
The energy of this 2021 Scorpio Full Moon will be felt from Friday 24th April through Thursday 29th April. During this week-long entrance and exit from this Moon phase, allow yourself to be as open and vulnerable as you can. It may seem awkward and uncomfortable at first, but the personal transformation you experience for yourself and in your relationships with others may prove unexpected yet valuable – well worth the discomfort. The reward of your emotional healing and spiritual authenticity and the adjustment and alignment of your personal lifestyle values with that authenticity could be profound… if you let it happen.
So let it happen.
Thank you for reading and sharing Signs and Numbers. Until next post..
