The 2021 Capricorn Full Moon reaches its maximum phase at 11:40a PDT on Thursday 24th June 2021 (3.46°), bringing in an interesting blend of energies which hold us emotionally accountable for our worldly choices and actions, past and present. In a world focused on wealth, fame, and fortune, these choices and actions are often inextricably tied to our worldly ambitions, goals, and achievements. We are encouraged, especially in the Western world, to define ourselves and our lives in these terms.

As result, many of us spend much of our lives striving to achieve certain goals or objectives in order to define ourselves and establish our place in the world in some way. We often pursue these goals and objectives with a very short-term focus, and in some cases, by any means necessary.

Now, under the influence of this 2021 Capricorn Full Moon phase, it’s a time to assess not only whether or not we’ve achieved what you want to achieve, but it’s also a time to face and deal with the emotional impact of our successes. The challenge of looking at our past successes from the present moment is in asking ourselves if we were truly successful, collectively and individually.

Let’s begin facing this challenge with a quick self-assessment.

  • Have you achieved what you thought would get you ahead?
  • And did your achievement get you ahead, or did you discover that your achievement ended up setting everyone – including you – behind?
  • Therefore, by your own assessment, were you/are you truly successful, or do you feel that you’ve ultimately failed?

Keep in mind – it’s likely you may have been successful at the time based upon the standards of the time. Yet now, you may be realizing the impact isn’t what you hoped it would be. You may be seeing how your impulsive thinking at the time is coming back around to reveal enduring challenges, possibly challenges or damages that are irreparable.

You may find yourself not wanting to take responsibility for everything you created, enabled, expanded, or destroyed. Of course, you want to take credit for the positive outcomes and the glory and prestige that may have come with them… but you probably aren’t willing to face or own up to the negative consequences of those same positive outcomes.

Well, with this 2021 Capricorn Full Moon, the Universe seems to have other plans.

Under this Full Moon phase, the past is coming to light in full force, holding us accountable for the choices we’ve made and the actions we’ve taken up until this very moment now. We’re being forced to face and deal with not only the societal impact of our choices and actions, but also the personal impact of fulfilling our objectives without caring about how others felt, or even how we ourselves actually felt while we were in the process of fulfilling them.

Many of us will try to protect our interests and achievements, hastily justifying our past beliefs and behaviors by claiming we were only “doing what we had to do” in order to accomplish our objectives, achieve our goals, and become “successful”. Yet…

  • What is success, really?
  • How do we define success?
  • Who determines what that definition of success is?
  • And why have we chosen to believe the person(s) who determined it?

The 2021 Capricorn Full Moon will not only help us clarify what success really means to each and all of us, it will also assist us in seeing the past from our present values and standards. More and more of us are beginning to look at how we got into our current circumstances, and more of us are asking questions which few have asked before.

  • How did this happen?
  • Why did we allow things to go this far?
  • Why are we trying to do that again?
  • Why are we repeating what we know hasn’t worked before and still isn’t working now?
  • Why won’t anyone change this?

These answers are may seem obvious to many of us, yet simultaneously, those same answers are hard to come by because too many people won’t admit to them. They avoid acknowledging these questions, pointing fingers of blame and distraction in a refusal to be held responsible, denying ownership of the negative outcomes by any means necessary. The answers hit too close to home, and people are too emotionally invested in both the past and present conditions to change things.

Yes, emotional investment. That’s what is at the core of everything happening right now, and why this 2021 Capricorn Full Moon is so potent. So many of us have become so emotionally invested in worldly outcomes and popular world views, and our present ambitions to sustain them and/or push them to further extremes, there’s little to no personal responsibility being taken for what’s already done, little to no real accountability for the choices being made and actions being taken now, and little to no earnest consideration for the future in any of it. Lacking foresight, many of us are choosing to repeat our past behaviors for short-term gratification rather than taking the impact on the long-term future into consideration. Very few of us, so far, are willing to feel let alone acknowledge the emotional truths behind what we have done or what we’re doing, even though “the truth sets you free”. That “truth” includes, and may most powerfully apply, to emotional truth.

As we make our choices in the present moment, we can palpably feel our determination to succeed by our conditioned yet outdated standards of success, again in some cases, by any means necessary. This determination to be, or at least appear successful based on our collectively accepted societal standards of success can be driven by one or more things, but usually narrows down to these three (from Dictionary.com):

  • (pure) Ambition – (n) an earnest desire for some type of achievement or distinction, as power, honor, fame, or wealth, and the willingness to strive for its attainment; (n) desire for work or activity; (v) to seek after earnestly
  • Courage – (n) the quality of mind or spirit that enables a person to face difficulty, danger, pain, etc., without fear; bravery
  • Fear – (n) a distressing emotion aroused by impending danger, evil, pain, etc., whether the threat is real or imagined

It will be important during this 2021 Capricorn Full Moon phase to notice which of these energies is motivating you, and also, which of these energies are motivating others around you. It will reveal a great deal about your current emotional state, and the emotional states of others if not the whole of your community, your society, and the world.

So, why are all of these emotions being awakened now and in this way?

To start, the Moon itself – our collective emotional influence – is traveling through the sign of Capricorn, which is the traditional “father” energy of the Zodiac. Ruled by Saturn, Capricorn is a cardinal earth energy, known to be serious, stern, ambitious, and determined to get things done. It tends to have a very authoritative if not disciplinarian presence, often focused not only on enforcing the rules with stark objectivity, but on creating more rules if and when deemed necessary. Capricorn also seeks to achieve its goals based upon social and societal constructs and standards of success – whatever is considered the highest, most respected position or accomplishment to achieve. Exactly what determines those “high” levels will vary depending on what is most valued in one’s society.

That said, regardless of societal or cultural standards, one’s professional and/or public standing is extremely important to most Capricorns or individuals with strong Capricorn influence, which is part of the reason having the Moon in this sign is generating such powerful emotional responses to our accomplishments within us now. This 2021 Capricorn Full Moon is bringing to light just how much we’ve become emotionally invested in our worldly achievements and, more specifically, in our roles or places in the professional or societal hierarchy of our world. It’s also interesting how many people equate their place in the societal hierarchy with the quality or standing of themselves or their family members, as if to say they and their family are more “good” than others because they are meeting or surpassing the standards of their society in one or more ways. It’s curious just how determined people are to hold onto the perceptions of their societal “goodness”.

That clinging to goodness is probably due to the emotion factor being exponentially intensified by the fact the Capricorn Moon is reflecting the light of the Cancer Sun. Cancer is the traditional “mother” energy of the Zodiac which happens to be ruled by the Moon (currently in Capricorn). Cancer is a cardinal water energy, known to be emotionally caring, nurturing, supportive, and protective. The thing with Cancer is that even though it’s often associated with maternal tendencies, people often miss the fact that Cancer is also the first water sign of the Zodiac, which actually makes its emotional focus oneself rather than others. For example, when a mother is a mother for the first time, they often don’t know how to mother other than what they’ve experienced themselves or what they’ve witnessed through observation of others. A mother’s own emotional experience and witness are their references for how to mother a child.

That said, what we must understand about Cancer’s energy is that it represents and references our own individual emotional experiences. Though it tends to have a very maternal presence – because home and family conditions often provide root memories for most people – Cancer can represent either or both an emotional nostalgia for the past and/or the emotional pain of the past which may act as fuel for one’s present ambitions. Striving to continue to be as successful as one has been in the past or striving to be victorious over one’s past challenges can be powerful incentive when pursuing one’s goals and ambitions, especially when being reflected by the Capricorn Moon. Whether the emotional motivation is rooted in the past and/or occurring in the present, it’s an energy we may be inclined to project onto other conditions and interactions…

…which is why this 2021 Capricorn Full Moon is so fascinating. Yes, this Cancer Sun opposite Capricorn Moon positioning is something that happens every Capricorn Full Moon – the ruler of Cancer moving through its sign’s Zodiac opposite. Yet with the energetic influences present during this 2021 Full Moon in Capricorn, we’re awakening to and beginning to understand how over these last few years, decades, centuries, many of us were led by our social and societal institutions and influences to believe the goal of life was for us to obtain whatever we wanted by any means necessary. We’re now questioning the validity of those desires and means as we’re confronted with the emotional energy entangled with them.

In this present moment, we are physically, materially, emotionally, and for some, spiritually experiencing the after-effects of our past ambitions, efforts, and achievements more than ever before – both in our professional/public lives and in our personal/private lives.

What many of us may be realizing is that our past impatience and recklessness have cost us dearly. The choices we now face in our individual lives and as a collective whole of humanity are monumental, more significant than we ever could have imagined because it has now become glaringly clear the way we’ve always gone is no longer a path on which we can continue forward.

Yet despite red hazard flags popping up everywhere, there are still people who choose to align with the outdated beliefs and way(s) of the past, refusing to change course. With every fiber of their being, they resist or reject facing, acknowledging, dealing with, and healing the challenges and emotional pain their ambitions have brought on.

Yet try as they may, with the walls of the past closing in on us, being boxed in from all sides with the impact of past choices and actions applying pressure to change our course, it’s becoming clear that these efforts to revive the past are not tenable for the long haul. At some point, the old ways can no longer continue.

  • But have we reached that point?
  • If not, will we get to that point before it’s too late to stop the damage?
  • Or are we already too late to stop irreversible damage to ourselves, each other, and our planet?

The complete answers to these last three questions, though there’s a strong sense of urgency to answer them, may not be known for some time. But that only amplifies the fact that our future is being determined by our choices now. In this moment now, we’ve reached a turning point as a collective whole – a point at which we must make monumental decisions about how we individually and collectively want to proceed.

The numerological energy makes this even more fascinating.

In Western nations, this 2021 Capricorn Full Moon is occurring on an 8 Universal Day of power and influence, revealing the focus of the peoples and institutions in those regions. The key here is recognizing how societal achievement and standing – or rather, the perception of it – is equated with having power and influence. However, what has shifted in recent years is how having influence alone is seen as an achievement, and how that influence gives one societal “power”.

In Eastern nations, this 2021 Capricorn Full Moon is occurring on a 9 Universal Day of fulfillment, completion, and ending – energies which are very much in alignment with Capricorn’s natural inclinations. You’ll see peoples and institutions in these regions are clearer about their goals and objectives, and may even be starting to see their intentions and processes coming into form if not manifestation.

The entire world is operating under the influence of an 11 Universal Month of inspired collaboration in which unique individuals come together to create something greater than any one of them could do alone, yet also requires each of them to maintain their uniqueness throughout the process. Each and every person or entity brings something to the table that is necessary for the success of the collaboration. The people and entities which understand this concept will flourish now. The people and entities which do not will flounder.

The entire world is also operating under the influence of a 5 Universal Year of change and adaptability. Again, there are people and institutions which will thrive as energy dynamics change and evolve, and there are people and institutions which will struggle to survive if not come to an end because they cannot or will not allow themselves to evolve.

The 2021 Capricorn Full Moon will be very instrumental in revealing not only the goals of various individuals and institutions, but also the motives behind those pursuits. If you’ve wanted to know why something is so important to someone, pay attention now. The answers are there is you choose to look and listen for them.

To that point, let’s take a closer look at the astrological transits within 3° orb at the time of the 2021 Capricorn Full Moon’s maximum phase:

Cancer 11 Sun trine Pisces Jupiter Retrograde (2-3°) – The more you’re willing to allow your own emotional truth to come forward, the more you inspire others to come forward with their own emotional truths. The mutual inspiration generates an ever-increasing field of compassion for one another – compassion which creates and strengthens a sense of Oneness amongst all involved in the sharing of individual truths.  That sense of Oneness and interconnectedness forms a powerfully cohesive collective of beings willing to assist and lift each other in times of need. It will be important to allow yourself to receive as much as you give at this time.

Capricorn Moon sextile Pisces Jupiter Retrograde (2-3°) – This energy assists in forming strategies and structures for providing compassionate support and assistance for members of your community. For these structures and strategies to be successful, the intention behind their creations must be an intention to serve without expectation of notoriety or return. Your community can be a large or as small as you want, yet whatever the size, it will serve as a reminder that 1) each of us makes an important contribution to the whole of All-That-Is, and 2) our collective Oneness can never be denied as long as we choose to acknowledge one another.

NODAL BOWL: (Sagittarius South Node conjunct Juno Retrograde) sextile Aquarius Saturn Retrograde sextile Aries Chiron sextile Gemini North Node (10-12°) – There’s a fierce determination to apply past wisdom to present circumstances, yet the wisdom is outdated. Society has progressed too much technologically and intellectually for the old ways to be effective. People are waking up to the fact the old ways actually created much of the pain and suffering they’re now experiencing in both self-identity and self-sustenance, and they’re looking and listening for different if not completely new ways to live which alleviate and heal that pain and struggle.

BOWL: Capricorn Pluto Retrograde sextile Pisces Pallas Athena sextile Taurus Black Moon Lilith sextile Cancer Venus (26-27°) – Notice your emotional patterns and see how they may be keeping you from achieving your goals if your ability to achieve is a matter of ego pride, and are you aware of the impact your determination may be having on others, especially your partners in 1-on-1 relationships of any and all kinds? You may learn that getting it done may not give you the power you think it will, and that forcing your will onto others in order to get what you want may come with unintended extras.

SEQUENCE: Aries Chiron semi-sextile Taurus Uranus semi-sextile Gemini North Node (10-12°) – Your self-identity wounds may actually help you navigate the changes in social values much more easily as you use your pain to guide you through and to what will heal you. The more you ask questions and the more information you seek, the more clarity you will gain about what you truly value in life and the more confidence you’ll feel in advocating for the changes you wish to see in society and the world.

SEQUENCE: Pisces Pallas Athena semi-sextile Aries Eris semi-sextile Taurus Black Moon Lilith (24-27°) – Your emotional patterns aren’t just about you – they’re also about how you see yourself in the context of All-That-Is. Do you feel connected to and compassionate toward others, or are your choices right now rooted in anger and self-righteousness because you feel left out as society begins to flow in a new direction? Pause and ask yourself if you’re really standing for your values, or if you’re simply resisting and denying inevitable change.

T-SQUARE: Capricorn Pluto Retrograde square Aries Eris square Cancer Venus (24-27°) – Notice which parts of our societal structures and institutions are being empowered or disempowered now. Also notice which people are being empowered or disempowered at this time. Notice how relationships between individuals and/or institutions – both personally and collectively – are being challenged by our emotional expressions. Factions are at odds, and those in the middle are trying to figure out to please two sides which are both full of anger, yet are playing to fear of defeat and loss instead of courageously honoring an ambition to create solutions which make things easier for everyone.

Gemini North Node sextile Leo Mars (8-10°) – Increasing consciousness of different ideas and perspectives supports and encourages the courage to take bold action in a new direction.

Taurus Ceres semi-sextile Gemini Mercury (16-17°) – It’s a time for talking about your personal lifestyle values. These conversations will prove valuable in themselves as they will help you form or clarify your definition of success for yourself.

With that all said, remember the past is coming up, yet again, for another attempt to be healed. Will we choose to acknowledge our emotional pain so we may heal it this time? Will we choose a new course for ourselves in the face of all that is coming forward now?

Time will tell, but it would eb wise for us to remember we don’t have a lot of it left to make these life-altering, world-altering choices. We should probably make the time to make choice for our future which empower and heal us all as best as possible now… and by any means necessary.

The influence of the 2021 Capricorn Full Moon will be felt from Monday 21st June through Sunday 27th June.
