The 2021 Aries Full Moon reaches its maximum phase at 7:57a PDT on Wednesday 20th October 2021 (27.43°). This is a very potent Full Moon phase, with a rather surprising rush of activity. In some cases, that “rush” is just that – a rushing through of certain matters with the intention of moving quickly through things with little to no review. Yet in other cases, these actions may have been a long time coming, only now having people so committed to righting rapidly-increasing and expanding wrongs that they’re finally taking up the fight for fairness and justice to be served… but not as much for others as for themselves, or in some cases, against themselves.

Add the fact that three of the nine celestial retrogrades have recently returned to direct motion (Mercury, Jupiter, and Saturn), there’s new clarity in communications, new information coming to light, and a renewed focus on the goals at hand, accelerating this emergence of action. The introspective cocoon we’ve been in has begun to allow some light and air, giving us enough relief to realize we’ve been transforming from one form of ourselves to new form we’ve never experienced before all this time. We’re not fully out of it yet with six celestial bodies still in retrograde motion (Ceres, Pallas Athena, Chiron, Uranus, Neptune, and Eris), but it’s beginning to ease up.

That said, Aries is the initiativeaction sign of the Zodiac. With its cardinal fire energy, it’s eager to be the first one to act in almost all matters, usually in order to ensure it’s in the lead and not following anyone else. Yet its rush to be first and/or be in the lead often leads Aries to act first and think later, and the impact of its impulsiveness tends to come forth just as swiftly as the action was taken.

Aries is opposite Libra on the Zodiac wheel, forming the “Axis of Identity” on which Aries represents “me” and Libra represents “we” as in self and another person. This axis reveals how we identify ourselves as individuals, and also reveals the roles we believe we need to fulfill in our one-on-one relationships of all kinds. Libra can also reveal how we are identified by others we interact with.

With Libra most frequently associated with beauty, balance, and peace, the interesting thing about having the Libra Sun’s light being reflected by the Aries Moon is that it’s often surprising to people that Libra has some fight in it. An Aries Full Moon usually inspires Libra to take action to balance what it perceives to be imbalance, injustice, or inequity in its dealings with others – a sense that it needs to be the one to do something or say something to make things right. Though there may be a good deal of emotion involved due to the Moon’s presence, these actions aren’t so much emotionally vengeful as they are about righting an intellectually or logically real or perceived wrong. Libra wants to set the record straight and make sure decisions are fairly and justly made – Aries takes the initiative in following-through on Libra’s intention.

However, this Libra-Aries dynamic during this 2021 Aries Full Moon phase is a bit complicated by the fact that Mars – the ruling planet of Aries – is currently traveling through Libra at this very moment. It’s also opposite Eris Retrograde in Aries. This opposition is a fiery, feisty combination which not only inspires action, but could encourage action driven by upset or anger. This dynamic may prove very revealing of people’s motives at this time, and raises the question of whether or not they’re really interested in bringing balance, justice, and peace to the matters-at-hand, or if they’re only seeking “justice” and “peace” for themselves.

Meanwhile, Venus – the ruling planet of Libra – is moving through Sagittarius. This encourages us to move with our partners into and through new and different experiences. Our minds and hearts are inclined to open and expand as result, and we may find ourselves fighting for very different intentions than before as we begin to see more clearly the injustices, imbalances, and inequities that we choose to live with. We also begin to recognize how different our life experiences could be from the norms we’ve accepted if we took action to change our individual and/or collective course. Actions may very well be inspired and/or fueled by this realization of how different things could be.

The degree of impact these Aries Full Moon actions may have upon oneself and others (especially partners of any/all kinds) will depend on the conditions, circumstances, and intentions they emerge from. The impact could be productive and positive, but it could also be disruptive and challenging, and in some cases, there could be mixed results. That’s because what’s good for one involved party may not be so good for the other. That, or it may become quickly apparent that what was initially thought to be a good thing may prove to be just the opposite, bringing us to the most significant challenge of this 2021 Aries Full Moon.

Aries, by nature, is focused on individual self-identity. Therefore, if the circumstances involve other people yet someone is emotionally invested in a particular outcome, it may be harder for that person to move beyond one’s own personal perceptions and experiences to “read the room” and recognize how one’s actions could be disruptive to others. They may perceive whatever is happening as a threat to their fundamental self-identity. Yet for those who can get beyond themselves and recognize the impact their actions may have on other individuals, this could be a powerful time of self-awareness, initiating healthy movement toward resolution, balance, and healing not only for oneself, but for all involved.

Part of this healing journey is to acknowledge the past so it can be faced honestly and healed. That healing comes through taking personal responsibility for what you are responsible for. In any interaction between two or more people, there is some degree of responsibility owned by all parties involved. The wounds cannot be healed until people are willing to own their wounds and own the wounds they inflicted upon others. Often, people fight their responsibility in the matters-at-hand. As long as they’re fighting their role in the pain, the pain cannot be healed or forgiven.

Another part of the healing journey is to acknowledge the present so it can be embraced and loved in now. To be present in the present, there needs to be a release and forgiveness of the past. Fighting past arguments serves no purpose now. What serves you best now, and really, what serves all of us best now, is to be able to be present in this moment now making choices which shape our futures, carrying the wisdom of our past experiences, but not their pain.

Moving into the numerological energies of this 2021 Aries Full Moon phase, the Moon reaches its maximum phase on an 8 Universal Day in the majority of the world, and a 9 Universal Day in Far Eastern and South Pacific nations.

For those experiencing the 8 energy, this will be a day in which you witness and/or experience the profound impact an individual’s choices and actions (or lack of choice and action) can have upon their 1-on-1 relationships with others. (Note: That individual may very well be you.) Eight is the number of power and influence, and when things are not going as hoped, it can bring forth intentions of control and manipulation in those who feel like circumstances are out of their control or believe they’re unable to sway things in their favor without use of force. The important thing to notice during this time is how you as an individual feel about what is happening, where your feelings are coming from, how they may be influencing your choice of actions now, and how your actions may influence or impact other individuals for better or worse. You may also notice you’re more aware of how others are dealing (or not dealing) with new or expanded information and insights, and how their resistance to reality may be impacting you now.

For the 9 energy regions, you may witness and/or experience matters coming to a close as result of actions taken to bring or restore balance and justice. As calls for resolution and completion are made, this 2021 Aries Full Moon could prove to be an “enough is enough” moment in some situations and circumstances – a time when it becomes crystal clear exactly who or what has been causing imbalances, injustices, and/or unfair, unequitable, or untenable conditions. It also becomes clear that whatever or whomever is creating those conditions needs to be proactively and directly addressed and its participation brought to a temporary or permanent end. It could also represent that this ending is already underway or has already occurred, and the grief and release of its residual presence is finally being moved through and cleared. Make note that some of us may use this completion energy to try to force problems away. This may seem like an easy route to avoid conflict or disruption, but it may end up causing more conflict or disruption in the end.

These 8 and 9 Day energies are occurring under the influence of a 6 Universal Month of pragmatic nurturing, supporting, and caring energy. The intention under this influence is to help and heal individuals and their circumstances, restoring functionality, good health, and wholeness. That includes helping and healing oneself. Remember that a lot of what you do in your day-to-day of life is being done in order to serve your own everyday needs in life. Use the energy of this 2021 Aries Full Moon to assess whether your efforts to take care of your partners/other individuals also take care of you. This energy encourages you to confirm that you’re taking action in both your and others’ best interests – not theirs’ alone, and not yours alone. Balance is the key to relational peace and ease.

All of this is occurring under the energy of the 5 Universal Year – a year of changes, adaptability, and adjustments. The actions taken during this 2021 Aries Full Moon phase will likely be catalysts for even bigger changes in your life and in the world around you. You may be surprised by what emerges during and coming out of this time.

For more specific details around the energy dynamics for this 2021 Aries Full Moon, here are the astrological transits:

T-SQUARE: Libra 6 Sun square Capricorn Pluto square Aries Moon (24-27°- slightly wide) – Societal structures are undergoing a major transformation, and it’s difficult to choose between what serves others and what serves you. Why not choose both? The transformation in progress is affecting everyone, so your energy may be best spent on making sure you “put your oxygen mask on first” before making sure others have theirs on, then helping one another move through this time of profound change together.

T-SQUARE: Libra Mars square Capricorn Pluto square Aries Eris Retrograde (23-24°) – Actions taken in the name of anger and ego are likely to create imbalance and disruption, even though you may think you’re restoring balance or justice to a situation. You might want to pause and ask yourself if another person is truly responsible for your upsets, or if you’re feeling the impact of the societal, cultural, and/or structural changes happening around all of us. Blaming someone else may feel good in the moment, but it could be causing disruption and chaos where none is necessary.

BLESSING TRIANGLE: Sagittarius Juno sextile Aquarius Jupiter sextile Aries Eris Retrograde (21-24°) – A commitment to expanding your experience of the world supports a growing awareness of the human condition around the world, which may find you becoming upset if not downright angry with what you’ve chosen and/or allowed yourself and others in your community to live with. This could be the catalyst for collective action which not only serves you individually, but also everyone around you for the better.

Sagittarius Juno square Pisces Neptune Retrograde (20-21°) – The more you experience places and peoples outside of your usual environment, the more you realize how delusional your comfort zone may be. This energy may challenge you to not only grow beyond your ideals, but possibly to recognize your ideals as somewhat fantastic or delusional in nature. First-hand experience of something different may be the reality check you need to shift to a different, healthier world view

Sagittarius Juno semi-sextile Capricorn Pluto (21-24°) – Places and peoples outside your usual environment may also help you understand why our societal structures and standards are currently undergoing profound transformation. The societal institutions and standards of success we’ve been living with have become outdated on a number of different levels. They’re naturally shifting toward what they need to be, even though there’s a surprising number of people who are still resisting the shifts.

Sagittarius Venus quincunx Taurus Uranus Retrograde (13-14°) – The more you share new and different experiences with your partner(s), the more your mind is opened, aligning you with perspectives you’ve been resisting or denying before now. These journeys outside your comfort zone may also bring realizations about how many of our social systems and the values that hold them in place no longer align with the way the world is now. It’s time for us as a collective whole to recognize how our world and our lifestyles demand change – that our old values are in no way compatible with the way both the whole of humanity and our planet are changing.

Capricorn White Moon Selene trine Taurus Uranus Retrograde (13°) – The better angels of our societal institutions are inspired and empowered by the tangibly-changing lifestyle values on the societal level. For all who are aligning with the evolution of society and humanity, this transit provides confirmation that conditions long hoped for are, indeed, finally coming into manifestation.

Aquarius Saturn sextile Aries Chiron Retrograde (6-9°) – The more focused and disciplined the collective evolution becomes, the more individuals find themselves inspired to join the fight to be proactive in their own reclamation and healing of their self-identities.

Pisces Pallas Athena square (Gemini Black Moon Lilith conjunct Ceres Retrograde) (10-11°) – Talk of visions and glorious promises only takes things so far. Eventually, they’ll be challenged by people who not only want to learn more specifics about what’s being offered, they’re willing to ask for them. The more the idealists try to escape or avoid specifics, the more determined the skeptics will become as they value information and intellectual ideas more than fantastic visionary ideals.

Pisces Pallas Athena semi-sextile Aries Chiron Retrograde (9-10°) – Repetitive talk about ideals and visions reveals a pattern of avoidance which may lead to the revelation of a wounded self-identity you or another is trying to escape from. It’s almost as if the bigger the story and the promise, the more they’re trying to compensate for not having a clear and confident sense of themselves.

Aries Chiron Retrograde sextile (Gemini Black Moon Lilith conjunct Ceres Retrograde) (9-11°) – The more confident you become in asking for the information you want, the more you realize you may be able to find the information you need to heal yourself. Don’t be afraid to ask, even if you’re worried about coming across as being too demanding or aggressive. It’s time for you to speak up for yourself as part of healing yourself. It’s okay to give yourself your voice back now.

Aries Chiron Retrograde opposite Libra Mercury (9-10°) – As you engage in more dialogue with others, you may find yourself finding balance with yourself. The exchange of ideas and information may find you discovering just how much you have to offer to others, healing and strengthening your sense of self.

Taurus Uranus Retrograde semi-sextile (Gemini Black Moon Lilith conjunct Ceres Retrograde) (10-13°) – The more our social values evolve, the more there’s a need to gather information and learn more about what is happening and why it’s happening. There may be an ego investment in gathering this knowledge, probably because you want attempt to prepare for whatever may be coming. Yet the best knowledge you can have at this time is that change is the only constant, and the best way to navigate it is to decide which changes are worth fighting for.

(Gemini Black Moon Lilith conjunct Ceres Retrograde) trine Libra Mercury (10-11°) – This is gold! Your need to gather ideas and information is empowered by connections with other intellectuals seeking exchanges of ideas and information. You’re best seeking other individuals to have one-on-one dialogues rather than seeking groups at this time, especially because the dialogues will help you recognize where you may be ego-invested and/or emotionally-invested in your ideas or beliefs.

Libra Mercury quincunx Taurus Uranus Retrograde (10-13°) – However, these one-on-one dialogues may present ideas and information which are not aligned with your current lifestyle values. As collective social values continue to evolve, you may find yourself feeling frustrated in learning your personal values are no longer aligning with the world around you.

Libra Mercury quincunx Pisces Pallas Athena Retrograde (10°) – These dialogues may also present ideas and information which are not aligned with your pattern of visionary escapism.

Libra Mars trine Aquarius Jupiter (22-23°) – The actions you take won’t affect you alone – they’ll create a ripple effect that will grow well beyond you. Others will feel the effects of whatever you choose to do and whomever you choose to be as you do it. Be mindful in using your words and actions now.

Scorpio Vesta opposite Taurus Uranus Retrograde (13-15°) – A determination to get to the bottom of things reveals why there’s such a bold shift in social values in progress. People are seeking genuine vulnerability and emotional depth of connection – a realness that’s been missing in the world of late. People are trying to reclaim the value of sincere human connection in both their intimate personal exchanges with others and their social experiences with others.

Scorpio Vesta sextile Capricorn White Moon Selene (13-15°) – A determination to get to the bottom of things supports the better angels of our societal institutions. Those who are dedicated to the Highest Good of all may find themselves supported by others who appreciated their earnest and honest effort to transform society through emotional vulnerability and deep connections with others.

The 2021 Aries Full Moon phase will be felt from Sunday 17th October through Saturday 23rd October. During this time, ask yourself who or what you’re fighting and/or who or what you’re fighting for.

  • Ask yourself if you’re truly fighting against an external enemy, or if you’re simply fighting against yourself and responsibility for your own actions.
  • And if you haven’t thought through that first question, you may want to ask yourself if your eagerness to act is rushing something that needs more time to be thought through.
  • You may also want to reflect upon your recent actions. What was your motivation or intention for taking the actions you did?
  • Who were/are your actions serving?

Gaining clarity about your own actions helps you not only learn from what you’ve already done, but prepares you for what’s to come. Once you’re clear about your motives and intentions, it’s easier to maintain your focus and discipline, and therefore, it’s easier to take actions aligned with your clarity of intent toward the manifestation of your goals. Staying aligned with and following through on your intentions helps you restore trust in yourself, which helps you heal your self-identity for yourself. Then you can use your voice to fight for fairness and justice for yourself and others in the ways which are most effective, transformative, and healing for all involved.

Thank you for reading and sharing Signs and Numbers. Until next post…

P.S. – One more thing. A bit unusual for me in these articles, but I’ve been asked about this last bit a lot in the last few days, so… if you’re wanting to do a ritual of some sort for this Full Moon:

 – Prior to the maximum phase (waxing moon – building energy), burn a candle as a visual focal point for your gratitude and intentions, then express gratitude for all that contributed to you being here now at this point in your life journey, for what has already manifested in your life around healing your self-identity, and for allowing your voice, ideas, and thoughts to be heard and understood by others. Then, journal about what you still want to bring into manifestation in your life, setting the intention that whatever needs to occur or appear in order to bring what you want into your life is on its way into your life now. Express gratitude for what is coming to you through the intentions you’ve just set. and if you have some, burn some frankincense and myrrh resins as gifts of intention and protection.

After the maximum phase (waning moon – releasing energy), burn a candle as a focal point for your gratitude and intentions, then express gratitude for everything that has already manifested in your life, and all that contributed to you being here now at this point in your life journey. Then, set an intention to let go of whatever needs to be released during these next two weeks (between this Aries Full Moon and the Scorpio New Moon on Thursday 4th November) in order to make space for what you want to manifest around healing your self-identity and allowing your voice, ideas, and thoughts to be heard and understood in your one-on-one relationships of all kinds. Express gratitude and forgiveness to everything and everyone that no longer serves you in a healthy or positive way, giving yourself permission to let them go and move on. Then, if you have it, burn some white sage and/or frankincense resin to begin the release of energies which no longer serve you. And if you want, you can even burn a small piece pf paper with whatever you know you need to let go of written on it.

Oh, and place any crystals and stones you use frequently out to be charged in the light of the Full Moon. If possible, place them on top of or next to Selenite or Citrine to cleanse as well.
