Most of you who have followed me for a while know…I’m just a bit obsessed with sociology, politics, and especially U.S. Presidential Elections. I’m actually interested in the whole national process, including the Senate and House dynamics, but it’s easiest to focus on the Presidential elections every four years.

That said, there are always questions about who the candidates really are, beyond their campaign rhetoric. I’ve decided to get below those surface veneers with astrology and numerology.

I’ve been studying the natal charts of the candidates for a while now, and will use this article series to walk you through their charts to provide some insights into the people who may be our next U.S. President using my unique blending of astrology and numerology – The Life By Soul® System – putting the “Core Six” combinations in action. I’m not only excited to share these with all of you, I believe it’s important to share all of these with you now.

I had started working on the 2024 Vice Presidential and third-party candidates before the election, but life happens and I didn’t get them completed for posting.

That seems to have worked out in my favor.

What also worked out in my favor is the fact that the only other Presidential or Vice Presidential candidate in this election with a full slate of birth data was/is the now Vice President-elect for the Republican Party, J.D. Vance.

With Vance largely speculated to become President at some point during this upcoming 2025-2029 Administration, it’s especially important to break down his natal chart as I did with Trump, Harris, and others previously.

If you’d like to revisit my natal chart analysis for Trump, you can check out the updated version here.

Otherwise, here we go, diving into the natal chart of…

J.D. Vance born James David Hamel – born 02.August.1984 (age 40) at 8:11a in Middletown, Butler County, Ohio.

His core identity (the energy he is grounded and centered in):

J.D. Vance is an interesting character in that he, in many ways, is a mini-me of the lead on his party’s ticket. Vance and Trump both have a late-degree Leo ascendant, but Vance is also a Leo Sun native, so the big cat energy rings more authentically and naturally through him.

With a Leo 5 base combination in his natal 12th House, J.D. can be a bit dramatic. Leo 5 is one of the most dramatic Leo combinations, and Vance won’t disappoint in representing his Leo 5 brethren despite his idealistic approach. With a daisy-chain stellium in Leo in his 12th house involving his natal Sun, Juno, and Vesta positions, Vance is committed to making himself and his voice known. The thing is, he may tend to underestimate the size of his audience, especially when it comes to the rare moments he speaks impulsively. What he thinks won’t gain popular traction often does, and this continues to surprise him… until it doesn’t. Once he gets used to being known on a particular level of publicity, he won’t want to give up that stage. This is a consistent progression for him – pushed to a larger stage uncomfortably until he acclimates, then pushed up again into discomfort until he acclimates…

The 5 energy of his base combination finds him making changes to draw more attention to himself and/or his creative projects throughout his life. These projects are likely to be done in the name of collective and/or spiritual service, but there will always be a large dose of service to himself and the agendas he believes will serve his best interests, which as far as he’s concerned would serve the best interests of all.

Easily bored, Vance won’t hesitate to use policy and/or “service” matters to stir up drama. If there isn’t already something chaotic happening, Vance may be tempted to make changes for change’s sake, not only to draw attention to himself or his projects, but also just because he can.

How he sees himself:

J.D. has Leo 1 projection energy on his Ascendant, and this indicates that he sees himself as someone who should be seen and acknowledged for being a leader. The thing is that he sees himself as a leader in his own life. The challenge for him may be in getting others to see him as a leader in theirs.

Like Trump, he isn’t afraid to act impulsively and assertively beyond the bounds of society’s expectations of what a leader should be, do, or look like. However, unlike Trump, he’s not necessarily doing this for popularity’s sake. Vance isn’t trying to win people over – he’s just being the leader (he believes) he is.

Yet with his Ascendant being at 27°45′ Leo (only 2° from Trump’s at 29° – conjunct Trump’s Leo 11 AC), Vance’s 1st house is also pretty much entirely comprised of Virgo energy. He sees himself as very practical, pragmatic, and systematic, so there’s definitely a plan behind any dramatics he may put forth. With his Mars conjunct his Scorpio IC, he’s not trying to draw attention to himself without a well-planned purpose or reason, and he won’t take action until he knows his action(s) can put him in a position of power. In this way, he’s far more calculating than Trump.

The challenge for Vance is that the impulsiveness his 5 base energy and 1 rising energy can encourage can be a serious liability for him. Despite his meticulous planning, any impulsive words or actions can damage the public image he’s otherwise so carefully crafting.

How others see him:

The weakest part of J.D.’s “Core Six” is his midheaven. J.D. has a Taurus 2 midheaven, and this tends to make people’s first impression of him to be a loyal and reliable assistant or support person. The modern ruling (dwarf) planet of Taurus, Ceres, is in wide conjunction with his midheaven from the 9th House, which reveals his experiential understanding of values, morals, and ethics in various communities and cultures, including and especially his own.

However, his 2 energy is likely to make him appear as someone who cannot lead on their own, or who has someone else/others propping him up. He definitely has co-leader or assistant vibes, coming across more like a solid advisor than a solid leader, despite him seeing himself as a leader. It’ll be tough to convince others that he can lead on his own.

What works for Vance with this midheaven is that the Taurus energy makes him appear to be more solid and stable than he otherwise would with a Leo 5 base. The 2 energy also makes it so if he’s partnered with someone else, the partner will appear to keep his impulsiveness in check.

However, J.D. also has Leo Venus in his 12th House square his midheaven. This reveals the possibility of him being unable to challenge any critics of his leadership because he may very well have “secret” partners and/or backing. At some point, especially if he does become President, this could result in Vance pushing back on anyone or anything that’s revealed to be pulling his puppet strings, as a matter of ego pride – his rising “leadership” energy getting the better of him, and causing him to lose support from not only those “secret: partners, but from the people/voters who gave him the benefit of the doubt.

Until that time, Vance will appear to others as a dependable and loyal subject to his Presidential candidate if not his President. J.D. won’t forget who brought him to the show, nor will the public let him forget. (This will be especially the case with Trump supporters.)

What he needs to learn (karma):

J.D., like both Trump and Harris, has his North Node in Gemini and South Node in Sagittarius. Vance’s Gemini 1 North Node is in his 10th House, revealing that forging a public identity is part of his karmic path. However, Vance needs to learn how to become a student of societal institution. This doesn’t necessarily mean he needs to conform to it, but it does mean he needs to understand it in order to do what he believes he’s here to do. He’s eager to learn whatever he doesn’t know. Of course, he has to learn what he doesn’t know somehow, and this is where his 1st house Mercury in Virgo helps direct him to his lessons.

The Sagittarius 1 South Node in his 4th House indicates that home and family may have him feeling confined or limited, or may prove to be confining and limiting for him in one or more ways. On one hand, he comes across as the wise and knowledgeable person amongst his family and close friends; yet he probably becomes bored with being the know-it-all of his inner circles. That said, Vance wants to forge new paths, and his Capricorn Jupiter Retrograde in his 5th House makes him lucky in this regard – he’s likely presented with quite a few opportunities to expand his knowledge through worldly experiences, and he likely has a lot of support from his loved ones for his public/career pursuits.

What he really (secretly) wants:

J.D.’s deepest desires are rooted in Virgo 33 & Pisces 33 energies.

Vance doesn’t only want to figure out how to make things work better for himself, he also believes in making them work better for others. It’s important he includes others in this adventure to make sure what he implements serves both the greater whole, not just himself. By “including” the public on the lessons he’s learning, they feel like they’re on the journey with him – that they’re learning and evolving together. If he focuses on others’ morals, values, and agendas, he can gain an astronomical amount of support.

But this same strength is where these combinations can also get a bit dicey. If Vance is too focused on “teaching” others – a.k.a. proving himself to be more studious or more intelligent than others, or in trying to prove his own values and agendas are better than those of others, he can quickly lose people’s support. If he focuses too much on trying to convince others that his vision is THE vision everyone should have, he may lose people who don’t feel seen or heard by him. People want to know he can learn from them as much as they are expected (by him) to learn from him. It’s got to be a two-way street, or he’ll find others abandoning his ship, or worse, sabotaging his visions and plans.

What really gives him “the feels” (his emotional core)?

The Moon placement is another challenge for J.D.  His Libra 7 Moon can make him intellectually indecisive because he knows too much and feels too much about what he knows.

With his Libra 7 Moon in the 3rd House of his natal chart. Vance is emotionally invested in his intellectual learning, knowing, and understanding. Air-sign Moon natives are known for being easily emotionally detached, and with an air sign Moon in an air-sign house, this is an indication that Vance can detach emotionally from his agendas and choices because of his mental focus. This is not to say that he has no emotional capability. It is to say his emotions are invested in his thoughts, ideas, words, and ability to communicate them. It’s likely that you’ll see “uncharacteristic” signs of emotion in Vance when he’s emotionally triggered, usually when he is unable to communicate freely, when his communications are “misinterpreted”, and/or when his ideas are confronted or contested.

Vance may also have difficulty reconciling his emotional investments with his intellectual investments, meaning his emotional truths aren’t necessarily aligned with his intellectual “truths”. This is likely to read to others as Vance being duplicitous or out of integrity.

That all said, despite his individual penchant for drama, Libra energy is notoriously conflict-adverse. Therefore, on an emotional level, Vance does not want to create conflict, and he’ll avoid it at all costs. Though conflict can be entertaining for him through his Leo 5 base energy, his emotional discomfort may cancel out its appeal. However, if he thinks he can be a catalyst for excitement or change that would bring balance to an imbalanced situation, and he’s invested in doing so, he’s willing to push through any emotional discomfort to generate the desired conditions. Conflict with a purpose tends to ease if not override his emotional uneasiness.

How does he find and wield his power?

J.D.’s power comes through his intellect and putting his childlike/”student” mind to the purpose of pursuing and increasing his personal power and influence. When he resists his tendency to one-up others intellectually, Vance can be very charismatic and influential, which is why he prefers to talk with or debate people one-on-one. He’s at his best in face-to-face interactions.

A large part of his influence is rooted in his emotional intelligence. He has Scorpio covering the back half of his 3rd House of learning and communications, and Scorpio also sits on his IC (4th House cusp), so he can tap into his and others’ emotions and intuitions very deeply. His Pallas Athena Retrograde in Pisces in his 8th House makes trine aspect to his IC in his chart, revealing that he has a powerful ability to recognize others’ emotional tendencies of individuals and collectives, especially in his innermost circles. He will tend to strategize his use of power around the emotional behavior patterns of others.

His strategies for power are likely to be bold and assertive if not aggressive due to the fact that Mars is in Vance’s 4th House in exact conjunction with his Scorpio IC at 22° (only 30’ separating). Vance will act on his emotional and spiritual truths… and he’ll only act if he’s “feeling it”. He’s not one to do something because he’s told or it’s expected of him, even though he may come across that way in most people’s first impression of him.

That said, the Scorpio IC also reveals that Vance has a deep emotional and spiritual investment in his family and home life, and this is both a strength and a weakness for him. Though he’ll talk about his feelings publicly, it’s only in his private life where he lets his emotional guard down completely. Home and family are his foundations for everything he does out in the world.

Because he’s so emotionally connected to and invested in his home and family life, he may not be eager to travel. Yet his fondness for learning more about the world may find him taking an increased interest in foreign policy matters.

When it all comes down to it, he’d rather focus on domestic policy matters as he’ll see and feel those are his strength. However, he will have to make some appearances on the international stage, and though he’ll resent them at first, he may develop some level of comfort with them as true to his Leo 5 Base. This could especially be the case once he realizes the power and influence available to him through both foreign diplomatic and economic relations.

If you read my article on the election itself, you’ll understand that the possibility of Vance becoming President has strong viability. It’s important to understand how he’s wired, and I’m glad his complete birth data is publicly available for me to be able to do this chart analysis.

You can read my 2024 Presidential Election analysis here. There will be an update article soon now that the election has been decided.
