I was pondering the topic of this week’s blog post over a few days earlier this week. It came to me when I had about 5 people ask me in a matter of a few hours, “Sun is in Scorpio. That’s all about sex, huh?”
Since sex and Scorpio seem to be thought of synonymously, I thought I’d explore why this may be the case. So I chose Scorpio and sex as the topic of this week’s post – to answer the question of “Why is Scorpio so sexy?”
To start, Scorpio opposes Taurus in the zodiac. It is important to discuss the Taurus-Scorpio axis when bringing this topic up because it puts the Scorpio association with sex into perspective.
Taurus is an earth sign, associated with your basic survival needs – shelter, food, money, and sex – physical and material comfort and satisfaction. It also addresses your personal tastes in regard to comfort in those matters. This is the physicality of sex. In many ways, Taurus is a more blatantly sexual sign for the simple fact that it is the earth sign.
So why does Scorpio get the more frequent references to sex and sexual expression?
Scorpio is a water sign, firmly entrenched in the emotional depth of our psyche. It is what we most want to know and understand about ourselves. It is also what we are most afraid of about ourselves as it reveals our deepest vulnerabilities. Scorpio has a reputation for being intense and mysterious because it is so determined to get to the bottom of things, it digs and digs deeper, seeking the truths hidden below the surface. It seeks what is real…really real. This intensity is often attractive to people as we are naturally drawn to Truth and to the search for Truth. It’s often what we want to hide that is what is others want us to reveal…or what others want to find out about us. This is why Scorpio intensity is often misinterpreted as physical sexual energy and attraction by most people. People want to know what’s behind the power they feel around Scorpios. They want to know where the intensity comes from and they think it’s a solely physical thing.
The thing is…for Scorpios, their intensity is really an attraction to the emotional depths of other people. Scorpio Sun natives or people with major Scorpio influences in their charts may not be overtly sexual people! In reality, it is not uncommon for Scorpio natives to go without the physical act of sex for days, weeks, months, even years! They’d rather wait for the deeper emotional connection they truly desire than to engage in a simply physical one. That is why Scorpios can become addicts to physical sex, drugs, alcohol, work, etc. – to focus their attentions until the genuine and deep emotional connection they truly want comes along…if they can pull themselves out of their addictions and obsessions to recognize that connection when it comes.
Scorpio also tends to deal in extremes – all or nothing, darkness and Light, good and evil, life/birth and death. The latter one is the polarity we are working with when discussing sex.
Sex has a dual purpose. Its first is that it is the most intimate act two people can engage in as its most foundational purpose is to create human life. It is how each of us came into this world, and it is how we potentially bring other human beings into this world. It is a physical act that creates a physical expression of life…and many of us as humans are very emotionally invested in our lives (and sometimes the lives of others) and this act of creation.
Through the physical act, sex’s second purpose comes forth as the most profound and powerful sex is the sex in which both people are willing and eager to emotionally connect, and they are being vulnerable with each other by choosing and allowing their physical guard to be let down. Many of us overlook the not-so-small detail that for our physical guard to be let down, our emotional guard must be let down completely…or in some cases, put up.
There are some who use the physical act of sex as a way to avoid their deepest emotional truths. The physical act is a way to avoid or ignore dealing with the emotions that drive the physical expression – it’s a numbing out of emotional truth.
Yet for others, the act of sex is a way to express their deepest emotional truths. They may not be good with words – spoken or written – so the physical expression is what they use to get their truth out. It’s a form of emotional communication – an acting out and expressing of their emotional truth.
For those of us who are able to experience a genuine emotional connection with someone and engage in the physical act of sex from that foundation, there is a emotional and spiritual experience like no other. Sex can be healing, transformative. It can change the lives of both people involved in positive ways.
You see. For Scorpio, the emotional and spiritual connection is the most important detail – a connection in which they can be completely vulnerable with someone and that someone will fully reciprocate that vulnerability. Where Taurus may value the physical and material, Scorpio values the emotional and spiritual motives and desires behind the physical and material resources and acts. Once Scorpio finds the emotional and spiritual depth it is looking for, it finds peace with the physical.
Ask yourself how sex is (or isn’t) important to you. Ask yourself the role it plays in your life, in your day-to-day routine, in your interactions and relationships with others. Hello, A love *interest, first in a long time, mentioned he had heard bad things about Scorpios, He is a Pisces. I posted this as it is seems to fit me the closest. I never have thought about my as a bad sign. What is that about?
Hi Anna,
Scorpios have a reputation for dealing in passionate extremes & holding grudges & getting revenge when they feel they’ve been betrayed or attacked. Scorps also have a difficult time trusting others – they like to know the worst of people so they can be prepared for whatever might come…THEN they let their guard down and go all-in. This causes them to be deeper & more intense than pretty much all other signs, and this depth & intensity can be difficult for other, more trusting and/or even-keel signs, to accept and/or understand.
Whether that is perceived as a negative or a positive is in the eye of the beholder.
If you’re interacting with someone who has difficulty with making clear & decisive decisions OR who is open & trusting about almost everything, they may see Scorpio’s initial secretiveness as a negative. Also, if they’ve betrayed and been on the receiving end of a Scorpio’s vengeance, they may see it as a negative.
But as long as they haven’t hurt or betrayed you, they have nothing to fear. 😉
That said, an emotional & empathic Pisces can usually understand this emotional depth & relate well to Scorpios…but it’s difficult to say with Sun Sign alone. Sun signs are only the tip of the iceberg – there’s SO much more to astrological compatibility than Sun Signs alone.
So going on Sun Sign alone? Not recommended. Encourage a couple of dates before making any decisions.
Hope that helps.

Hi grace. I’ve this weird little confusion .I was born on the midnight night of 14 November yet according to Victorian era the date goes that of 15 November ,can I know my astrological date and characteristics of my birthday
Hi Pratigya,
If you were born at midnight, you are born on the day which is starting at midnight – in this case (from what I can tell in your explanation), that day would be the 15th.
However, if midnight is the time they wrote down and you were technically born BEFORE they looked at a clock, you may have been born just before midnight, making your birthdate the 14th.
Here’s one way to narrow it down. If people tend to see you as creative, unpredictable, lively, and dramatic, it’s probably the 14th. If people tend to see you as being pragmatic, problem-solving, nurturing, and possibly even maternal, it’s probably the 15th. Which one feels correct to you?

I am a scorpio and i find really hard to socialise ….. Is it a zodiac property or a individual problem???
It may be a bit of both. Scorpio has, to put it bluntly, trust issues which can make socialization difficult. Yet, there are Scorpio natives who adapt well to social settings, even if they keep some aspects of themselves hidden in the process.
Hope that helps. ~ G
