The Sun moves into Capricorn on Wednesday, December 21, 2011 at 9:30p PST, bringing the Winter Solstice along with it.
Capricorn is a cardinal sign, initiating the winter season and initiating a retrospective of our year. Capricorn is also a serious-natured sign, and brings focus and discipline to whichever areas of our lives it makes its presence known.
With the New Moon arriving in Capricorn on Christmas Eve, Saturday, December 24th at 10:07a PST, this only emphasizes the push to start setting goals and making plans for the New Year now.
New Moons always usher in a fresh start in the area of life the sign touches upon. With Capricorn, the focus is on career, goals, ambitions, public image, and producing results. It’s about looking at who we’ve been up to now and the results we’ve gotten up to this point. Then, based on our assessment, making choices about who we want to be moving forward. Once we’ve made those choices, it’s about creating plans and setting intentions as to how we are going to accomplish and achieve those goals.
It’s no accident that the Sun is entering Capricorn and the New Moon arrives in Capricorn as Gregorian Calendar New Year approaches. Each year around this time, there is much for each and all of us to think about and consider as we make our New Year’s resolutions, creating our plans and setting our intentions for the next 12 months of our lives. However, with this combination of influences gives us a jump start on our usual assessing and planning process for the New Year.
Sagittarius opened us up to the Truth in our lives, inspiring and opening us to what is possible for each of us in our pursuit for freedom. Now with Capricorn, we are urged to figure out what we intend to do with this new-found inspiration and openness. It encourages us to seek ways to not only continue growing and expanding our self-expression, but to achieve and accomplish success, abundance and greatness within that growth and expansion.
If you found that during the Sagittarius Sun period, you re-discovered a hobby or activity that you really enjoy, you may want to make it a point to create goals or intentions to continue doing it in the New Year. If you moved into a new home that needs a little work or organizing, plan projects to get things in order. If you started a new job or if you’ve been in your position for a while now, look for ways to excel in your role, increase your responsibilities or maybe even take on a new or higher-level position within your company.
One other thing to note: during this time of Capricorn, relationships are assessed differently as well. The holidays are a great time to assess which relationships of all kinds (family, romantic, professional, etc.) support or hinder our expansion, ambitions, and abilities to achieve our goals. In other words, who has your back and who is holding you back? Use this Capricorn period to figure out which people in your life can help you or support you in achieving what you are planning to do moving forward. And it’s the holidays – enjoy the process! Make it fun to figure out which relationships in your life are the healthy, productive, and happy ones.
Happy Holidays to each and every one of you! Enjoy the season.
Until next time…
