We experience a New Moon in Libra at 5:03a PDT on Monday, October 15th, 2012.
This 2012 Libra New Moon is unusually strong due to the abundance of planetary influence from Scorpio right now (Mercury, Saturn, North Node all in that sign at this time). There is a lot of all-or-nothing energy in the air. As result, many of the revelations you are experiencing and choices you are making about your partnerships of all kinds are likely to be clear and definitive.
There’s a lot of relationship making up and breaking up going on right now with all of this Scorpionic power moving about during this 2012 Libra Sun cycle. There’ve been quite a few engagement announcements among my friends in the last couple of weeks, and almost as many break-ups and separations. The New Moon in Libra only magnifies the make-up or break-up dynamic…or at least has us begin questioning what we want to do regarding some specific relationships we are in.
A New Moon always brings forth the opportunity for new beginnings and fresh starts in whichever areas and energies are represented by the Sun-Moon conjunction. In this case, the Libra New Moon is all about one-on-one relationships of all kinds and the balance of energy between the partners within them. The image that often represents Libra is the scales – balance and equality, fairness and justice. Those qualities are paramount at this time.
But with the abundance of Scorpio energy, the act of “balancing” things can be more like jumping full force onto the up side of a teeter-totter – taking one extreme to balance out what seems like another extreme in order to bring about equality and balance. But when this is done, what usually ends up happening is that whatever is on the down side of the teeter-totter gets tossed up into the air in disarray or tossed out of our lives period.
The New Moon in Libra helps us awaken to what is balanced or out of balance in our lives, especially in our relationships. In our partnerships, if we experience that the energies between the partners are not balanced in some way, challenges often arise. And with the strong Scorpio influence right now, under the influence of this New Moon in Libra we may find ourselves making extreme choices or taking extreme actions in order to even things out and alleviate these challenges and imbalances.
One partner may choose to step into what they believe is expected of them as a partner or being in a relationship and step up to the plate as a partner in behavior and actions…or one may feel burdened in the relationship – either by unrealistic expectations for the relationship or of the partner themselves – and may choose to end the relationship as result. Maybe someone feels strongly that it’s the right time to secure their relationship with their partner and makes a commitment by asking for life partnership or marriage…or one may think or feel that they are being asked to give up too much of their individual identity to be in partnership with the other and may suddenly walk out on the relationship altogether. This Libra-Scorpio energy dynamic could show up a number of different ways, but however it does it will likely be in powerful and transformative ways.
Whatever the case, the choices made in order to balance out what seem like extreme imbalances are likely to be equally as extreme. This is why the Scorpio influence is so important during this New Moon in Libra. It is important during this time to be sure that whatever choices you make are made after weighing both sides of the matter and are in the best interests of all involved. Scorpio can tend to be rather pushy, and has been force or manipulate others to do their bidding…which is why it is so important to be clear about your intentions in making these relationship choices. Are the choices being made in the best interest of the relationships, or are they being made for one partner to force their will upon the other?
Keep in mind – these relationships do not have to be only with people. They could be our relationships to our jobs, to our activities, to our interests, to our money, etc. Each of us is always in relationship to everything around us. However, it is our awareness of those relationships and where we stand in them that has us make the choices we make for ourselves and our lives.
This 2012 Libra New Moon helps us awaken to the relationships that are at the fore of our decision-making processes. These are relationships in the present, but they could just as well be ones from the past or even ones you are hoping will come about in the future.
Questions to ask yourself in the wake of this Libra New Moon are:
- Which relationships are most strongly influencing who you are in your life?
- Are there any relationships (people, activities, events) that are influencing you now that you are surprised are having such strong influence upon you and your choices?
- Have you thought about making a choice or decision about a particular relationship for a long time? Does it now feel right or not right for you to make this choice? If questions or concerns come up as you try to make this choice, what are they? (It would be wise to answer them before you choose.)
- Is the action or communication you are considering really in your individual best interests and the best interests of the partnerships?
- Is the choice or decision you are making based on fact or reality and what is best for both involved, or is it based upon forcing or manipulating what you want to have happen in the relationship?
Just some things to consider in the wake of this 2012 Libra New Moon.
