The Moon enters full phase in the sign of Scorpio (23.90°) at 12:16p PDT today, 14 May 2014, opposite the Taurus Sun.
The Taurus Sun is currently shining its Light on your present lifestyle and the resources that support it (a.k.a. – your survival needs). This brings attention to the material-physical-financial aspects of your life. Whatever you need to survive and thrive in your life is what Taurus (and Ceres and the 2nd house of your chart) covers. These are the resources that help you establish your lifestyle and assist you in determining your comfort zone. Taurus and its associates reveal what you value most in regard to your foundational physical, material, financial, and sexual comfort and expression.
Notice how I said physical.
That is because Scorpio is where the intimacy actually comes from. Scorpio being the fixed energy-water element sign in the Zodiac represents the emotional component of those afore-mentioned survival needs. Scorpio (and Pluto and the 8th house of your chart) is where you feel the emotional impact of your fundamental physical-material-financial-sexual experiences. Scorpio and its associates reveal where the experiences that symbolically represent and sometimes literally continue the cycle and circle of your life (birth, death, rebirth/transformation) show up in your life. To that point, the Taurus-Scorpio polarity is intense because of its association with your basic survival needs, which is why you experience these emotions with such vulnerability. Sharing how you really and truly feel about your life and your lifestyle makes you feel like you are opening yourself up emotionally in ways that may threaten your very survival.
That is why I often explain Scorpio’s intensity and mystery by stating that it is the most emotionally vulnerable of the signs. Mystery and secrecy are usually conscious efforts by Scorpio natives (or people with a great deal of Scorpio energy in their astrological charts) to keep their emotional vulnerabilities hidden. As a fixed water sign, Scorpio is very clear and decisive about its emotions and feelings. For these reasons, Scorpio represents power, influence, control, and manipulation – it is where your True personal power resides and how you use your physical-material-financial-sexual resources to apply that power because it is where your real and true feelings about your life and lifestyle are kept safe and secure, deep in the dark corners and closets of your psyche.
In this 2014 Scorpio Full Moon, the Taurus 3 Sun is reflecting its Light upon the Scorpio Moon, illuminating its tangible and practical efforts to expose the Moon’s emotional depths and vulnerabilities to the world. The Taurus 3 Sun is doing this to reveal, learn, and understand the emotional depths and truths of what is happening right now in your life and in the world on a material-physical-financial level. It is doing this to help you understand the origins and impact of your real power.
Usually, people and collectives/institutions/entities are afraid to reveal their vulnerabilities. They believe that it is a display of weakness to allow one’s emotional depths to be displayed, fearing their power won’t seem so powerful after all once the emotional-spiritual reasons and/or motives behind it are revealed. They are afraid that others will take advantage of them or attack them if their emotional weaknesses are revealed. To that point, they may use an excess or an abuse of power in order to overcompensate for their perceived weaknesses. In these cases, the ones who spew the most venom through control and manipulation are the ones who are the most emotionally hurt and vulnerable on the inside. Controlling, manipulative, and/or secretive behaviors are fear-driven defense mechanisms.
On the other side of the coin are the people who give up their power to others. They allow themselves to be controlled or manipulated or taken advantage of. They are so eager or desperate to engage in intimacy with others that they allow themselves to be inappropriately open and vulnerable on an emotional level. These are people who often end up being on the receiving end of others’ excess or abuse of power, on the receiving end of others’ control and manipulation. Yet what many of us don’t often recognize is that putting themselves in that position of weakness is a personal choice and also a manipulation. It is holding others accountable and responsible for their choice not to claim or exercise their own power by consciously choosing to be a casualty of the power of others.
Interestingly enough, the astrology is not the only discussion of power and control on this day. This 2014 Scorpio Full Moon occurs on a numerological 8 day – a day in which power and influence are the order of the day. You may find that you are hyper-aware of where and how you have power and influence in your life, or where you lack it. This is especially the case as the Moon conjuncts with Saturn Retrograde in Scorpio on its way to its exact opposition with the Taurus Sun, reminding you of where you feel most emotionally suppressed or restricted in your lifestyle as it is currently structured. The bright side of 8 energy is using you power in ways that allow your presence to make a positive and empowering impact on others’ lives. The dark side of 8 energy is control, manipulation, and deception; and during this time you may recognize where you may manipulate or deceive others in order to influence and/or control them. You may also or alternatively recognize where you give your power away or allow others to have power and influence over you when they exercise these approaches on you.
What people often don’t understand – and what you get to understand now during this 2014 Scorpio Full Moon – is that how you manage your lifestyle and your degree of openness and willingness to share your vulnerabilities with others reveals a great deal about your inner strength and power.

The 8 comes from today’s date – 14 May 2014 – being reduced to a single digit (1 + 4 + 5 + 2 + 0 + 1 + 4 = 17; 1 + 7=8). In Tarot, the 17th card of the major arcana is The Star. This card represents the hope that is available when you’ve given all you’ve got emotionally, and the Universe rewards you with something to have faith in and hope for. In the midst of the darkness, you can look up and see a little spec k of Light at the edge of the darkness that encourages you to carry on in the face of whatever darkness you may be experiencing. In most images for this card, there is an outpouring or draining of one’s emotions represented by a cup releasing its contents downward. Yet there is also a replenishing of that emotional energy from the Universe itself, represented by a cup being released over the head or above the head of the image in the card. The emotions and the love you share are the emotions and love you receive in kind. You get what you give.
This vulnerable emotional exchange – this give and take – is how you recognize how powerful you are.
8 energy represents qualities of both Scorpio and Taurus as well as Capricorn. It’s also a day of harvest, allowing you to see the fruits of the efforts and energies you’ve applied over the last 7 days. It’s a results day, and your results will always reveal a great deal about where your personal strength and power actually reside and how effective they really are.
So today and for the next few days, pay attention to how you share yourself emotionally and spiritually with others. You will see this more clearly and understand this more fully by paying attention to how you receive emotional and spiritual energy from others. Notice the people who are coming into your life and into your personal space. Notice what they share about themselves, and most important, notice your own feelings and emotions as you receive what they share with you. Your feelings about them will reveal where you stand. Notice that whatever you willingly and eagerly accept and/or attend to, what you tolerate, what you resist, and what you avoid. Then notice that ALL of these are expressions are also expressions of yourself.
Also notice that what emotionally annoys or angers you most is likely what you resist most about yourself and the life you’ve established for yourself, and that what you are emotionally uncomfortable with is what does not align with what you truly want for your life and lifestyle. These are the elements of your emotional perspective to your lifestyle that are being called into transformation.
What you admire most in others – their confidence, their power, their influence, their command over the direction of their lives – that is what you want most for yourself and your life – it is what reveals the power within you, and it is what inspires your own transformation during this 2014 Scorpio Full Moon. You are more powerful than you can possibly imagine, and you really do have the power to change your life. All you need to do is recognize it and put it to use.
