The 2024 Sagittarius Full Moon reaches its maximum phase at 6:53a PDT on Thursday 23rd May 2024 at 2°55’ Sagittarius. What makes this an interesting Full Moon phase is that even though the Sun’s in the mutable air sign of Gemini, there’s still a lot of Taurus energy at play while the Sun’s light is being fully reflected by the 2024 Sagittarius Full Moon.
In fact, Mercury, Gemini’s ruling planet, is in Taurus along with Venus, Jupiter, and Uranus. Venus moves into Gemini approximately 6.5 hours after the Moon’s max phase, but it’s still in Taurus at the time of the Moon’s maximum phase, making its last contribution to the multi-planet, grounding, earth energy presence. Pair that with the fact that, numerologically speaking, we’re still in a 4 Universal Month which keeps our focus on either creating conditions of stability and security or disrupting them, and this 2024 Sagittarius Full Moon is a surprisingly grounded one. However, what keeps it true-to-form is that for Gemini, its thoughts, words, and curiosity are its superpower; and for Sagittarius, its eagerness for experience and adventurous actions to find and feel the answers are its power in turn.
Even though I just mentioned grounding and stabilizing energies of the Taurus placements and 4 Universal month, let’s go back to the Gemini Sun for a moment because it’s important to understand what our minds are focused on – the questions we are asking and looking to the Sagittarius Full Moon to answer.
I call the Gemini-Sagittarius axis the “Axis of Intellect” because Gemini is the mutable air, inquisitive child/student energy of the Zodiac that asks questions, eager to play in, learn, and understand the world around it. When it asks its questions, Sadge looks at Gem and says, “Okay, I’ll take your questions, ideas, and theories out into the real world and try them out. Then I’ll come back to you with some trustworthy, first-hand answers.” In other words. Sagittarius, being the mutable fire energy, is going to take the actions – it’s going to take the risks to test and find things out. Only after it has explored and experienced does it come back to share the wisdom of its experiences with others… and through this Sagittarius Full Moon, it’s not only going to share its truth about the results or responses to its actions. It’s also going to let you know how it feels – emotionally and energetically – to take those actions, have those experiences, and find those truths and answers.
So, combining all of these energies, we learn that under this 2024 Sagittarius Full Moon, it’s important for you to take an action step in the direction of the goal(s) you want to realize. These goals likely have something to do with Taurean themes of physical, material, and/or financial resources, but it’s just as likely they could be mercurial themes of education and information. That said, if you aren’t willing to take a creative or active step toward the resources into your life, the Universe won’t be convinced that you want what you say you want. This Full Moon phase is your reminder that working with the Universe is a co-creative process – one in which the Universe will always provide an assist… but you have to do your part as well as it can’t do all the work for you. Universal Law doesn’t work that way. You’ve got to meet the Universe halfway.
That said, almost the entire world will be experiencing this 2024 Sagittarius Full Moon on a 9 Universal Day of fulfillments, completions, endings, and clearings; so some of the actions you need to take may be, yes, more ending and clearing of what no longer aligns with, serves, or supports you well in pursuit of your goals. Only far eastern Asia, eastern Australia, New Zealand, and the island nations to the east of all of them (up to the date line) will have already moved into a 1 Universal Day of new beginnings, fresh starts, and initiative actions. In these zones, your actions may be more about starting and seeding what you want for your future rather than clearing space for what you may have already planted to grow.
We’ve already mentioned the 4 Universal Month energy and its contribution to the focus on creating a solid foundation to build and grow upon. Yet the 8 Universal Year energy needs to be recognized for its role in bringing the plays of power and influence to the fore. Both the afore-mentioned endings and beginnings are likely to have making a shift in the power dynamics in one or more areas of your life as a focal and deciding factor in the action you may choose to take.
A couple additional notes on this 2024 Sagittarius Full Moon:
- Venus and Jupiter in Taurus and Neptune in Pisces are all at 29° in their respective signs. The 29° point tends to create latency or passivity in planets, bodies, and points in this degree as they’re often in the process of shifting their focus to the next sign. So, despite their presences in the signs, they aren’t very conducive to taking actions aligned with them. In fact, despite all of the positive energy they could bring to the matters-at-hand, it’s important to consider that any wish fulfillment and/or “dreams come true” during this 2024 Sagittarius Full Moon may end up being more talk than action for some people.
- However, there is a 0° position for Sedna in Gemini, and 2° positions for the Sun, Moon, and Pluto Retrograde. These all reveal the possibility of growth, expansion, and transformation if actions are taken, especially if actions are taken in alignment with what you say and feel you want… which brings us to one last and very essential point:
- You’ve got to be clear about what you want. Seriously. This 2024 Sagittarius Full Moon comes with a message of honesty and authenticity. You’ve got to be honest with yourself about what you want before you can be honest with anyone else, even the Universe. Don’t assume the Universe or your spiritual team knows what you’re thinking or wanting, or that they know better than you do what you want. You are the one who has to get clear. You want the one who has to choose. You are the one who gets to declare what you want, and you must feel emotional energy behind that desire. Then, it’s you who must take an action to move yourself toward what you want.

Feel your way to it to find it.
This 2024 Sagittarius Full Moon is an excellent time to take the leap of faith – to step into the great unknown to find out what happens if you actually “try it” or “do it”. What is “it”? It’s whatever step you’ve been afraid to take, whatever thought or feeling you’ve been afraid to say, whatever question you’ve been afraid to ask. Sagittarius is considered a lucky sign as it’s supported by the jolly optimism of its ruling planet., Jupiter, which we’ve mentioned a few times is currently at 29° Taurus, so you’ll need to take action for yourself to benefit from its presence and position.
Which action do you take? Well, that’s where you’ll need to feel your way to and through it.
You’ll need to use your emotions to gauge which actions to take, which direction to move in… and you’ll need to notice which choices and actions bring you feelings of ease and joy.

As more comes into your life (because you asked for more), it may be time for you to open your mind and learn something new or different… or to open your mouth to exchange ideas and information with others about how to manage the abundance coming into your life.
- conjunct Gemini Sedna (0-2°) – You may find yourself vocalizing your beliefs about being a victim or of being victimized. If you’re using this inauthentically, your words won’t be enough – you’ll need to be able to prove it
- opposite Sagittarius Moon (2°55’) – Experience and the emotions you feel during and after the actions you take and experience you have will help you verify what is and isn’t true.
- trine Aquarius Pluto Retrograde (0-2°) – You may have some second chances to bring or allow some good things into your life… IF you choose them and allow yourself to receive them.
