With Venus now in its home sign of Libra as of 7:07p PDT on Monday, 29th August 2016, we enter a period in which fair and balanced relationship is the focus of our energies in every way. Not only is it simply about being in relationships or partnerships with other people – it’s about being in equal, fair, and just relationships with other people. This is about balance.
Venus in Libra can be a wonderfully beautiful influence. It is inclined to promote peace and ease with its objective logic and diplomatic grace. It doesn’t like to rock the boat if the boat’s not already rocked, and if it’s already rocking, it usually does its best to balance and calm it.
That said, Venus in Libra is savvy enough to know that if conflict arises, something about the relationship is out of balance – it is not fair, just, or equal in some way. This is where its influence can be at its best, applying its logic diplomatically (and sometimes, strategically) to diffuse an otherwise tense or aggressive situation.
Yet there are times when two people have created an imbalanced “normal” for their interactions, and it can be difficult to change that interactive dynamic. This is especially the case if the partnership has significantly favored one partner over the other. Usually, the partner who has been in the advantage position has great difficulty giving up its advantages…and the partner who has been in the disadvantaged position may either be aggressive in claiming their rightful share of the perks OR may be having a difficult time adjusting to or accepting their newly-discovered equality after being disadvantaged for so long.
The thing is…under this particular 2016 Venus in Libra (being influenced by Mars and Saturn in Sagittarius, Uranus Retrograde in Aries, and Pluto Retrograde in Capricorn), there won’t be any room for an imbalanced status quo to continue. As much as Venus in Libra may want to keep the peace, it may quickly realize that its role this time around is to help both (or all) sides see where the other is coming from. Venus in Libra’s objectivity and diplomacy will be its best assets and will ensure that the balancing of the scales between polarized parties is a fair game…and its biggest challenges will be in getting others to stand down on their polarized views so they may see the reasoning of others. Open minds will do wonders at this time. Unfortunately, many people may need their minds forced open by changing circumstances.
This 2016 Venus in Libra will encourage (if not force) us to see the hypocrisy in our positions – to see how we cannot claim certain positions without betraying those very positions while holding other claims which contradict them. As result, each and all of us will be subject to our own biases…and our own need for humility and respect for others’ perspectives. These dynamics will be especially present in our one-on-one relationships of all kinds. We will quickly figure out which of our partners are seeing us through their eyes…and which ones are making the effort to see us through ours.
As we look at what this 2016 Venus in Libra may bring, we can see that this energy will not only influence our one-on-one relationships with each other as individuals – it will also affect the relationships between larger social communities and societal groups. There will be some major imbalances to address over these next few weeks, and everyone and anyone is “fair game” for being brought into balance. No one is exempt, no matter how they may try to be.

Libra Venus quincunx Pisces Chiron Retrograde, most exact on 17th September – intellectual objectivity may not seem to make a difference, yet it could be just enough of a diplomatic effort to inspire others to seek healing solutions rather than take victim stances.
Libra Venus opposite Aries Uranus Retrograde, most exact on 18th September – This is the big one as there is aggressive opposition to the status quo as the relational polarity of a relationship makes its presence undeniably clear. It’s a question of whether or not it is a peaceful balance being sought after…or a violent battle. People may become very physically active, if not violent in response to real or perceived injustices. Individuals could become very publicly known.
