The funny thing about that classic line is that finding out someone’s sign is NOT a sure bet that they are or aren’t compatible with you. In fact, some of your best matches may be with someone who isn’t supposed to be a match with you at all!
Asking someone’s sign usually reveals their astrological sun sign, which is important because it is the core of the person’s being, but it’s only important to a degree. It doesn’t give much insight to the whole of a person. Depending on the nature of the relationship, other planetary influences may be more important than the sun signs being compatible. In fact, business relationships thrive when Venus, Jupiter, and/or Pluto connections are good. Romantic relationshps are glorious when the Moon, Venus, and Chiron are well-connected. Friendships can be great when there are pleasant connections between Mercury, Venus, Jupiter, and Uranus. Sex can be fabulous when the Mars, Pluto, and Juno connections are fabulous. There are many details to be accounted for, and for that reason, the sun sign is definitely not the only thing to base any type of relationship on.
I’ve also found that numeric energies tend to be a more reliable assessment of compatibility than astrological sun signs, and that when the numbers are compatible, this can greatly ease (if not, override) any friction between the sun signs. When two people have compatible numerology, what would have been friction may be seen as a humorous quirk in the other person rather than a deal-breaking flaw.
These other planetary influences and the numerical influences can actually reveal deeper compatibilities that wouldn’t be considered if the sun signs were the only factor. They also explain why some couples who “shouldn’t” be together are indeed together and very happy in being so.
So rather than asking “what’s your sign?”, you may just want to “go with your gut” – your intuitive and instinctual energies are often accurate assessments as to what the sun signs don’t reveal…and may be your key to genuinely happy (or at least personal growth-supporting) relationships in your life. Maybe you’ll even find true love. 😉
