It’s a most wonderful time of the year, at least in my perspective.
The Scorpio New Moon arrives at 9:52pm PDT on Friday, November 5, 2010, and it’s a time in which everything that came to a head in the Scorpio Full Moon comes to resolution and completion…or at least a time at which those matters get to a point where they can be dealt with practically or with some purpose. It’s the point of transformation in which what was ceases to exist and what is called upon to be created anew in the clearing is born.
As much as I’ve resisted it at times in my life, I’ve come to love and actually enjoy the transformative process. It is through my recent life experiences (the last 7-8 years or so) that I have learned first-hand something I heard for a long time, yet that I’ve only just come to understand and appreciate fully – for something new to come into one’s life, one must be willing to let go of what they’ve had. More specifically, one must be willing to let go of what no longer serves their priorities or interests in and for their lives. If it doesn’t support or encourage you and/or what you’re up to in life, it’s probably expendable.
Now, with the expendable things, it’s easy to cut off the things that haven’t been useful or important for a while – people who you’ve lost touch with (and frankly, who you don’t really miss), your old hairstyle, clothes or shoes you rarely or never wear, and such. However, when it’s significant others (partners, friends, family members), your job(s), your home…those choices are major and life-altering, yet may be necessary depending on how committed you are to honoring your personal and individual priorities and commitments. It’s these sorts of things that if we are willing to let go of them – if we are willing to give up our attachments or addictions to them – we can create space for new and true to come into our lives. But, we must be willing to experience that moment where we don’t know exactly what is going to come into its place…or when it will come…or how it will come. In fact, the only question we can count on having answered is ‘why’…and why is because we are willing to trust in what we know in our hearts and intuitions or instincts is best for our individual developments and progressions toward the lives we say we truly want for ourselves.
In other words, it’s put up or shut up time. Do we really believe what we say, and are we willing to take actions to follow through? Or are we choosing not to practice what we preach or commit to what we say we want? Are we willing to set ourselves free of our pasts to claim the futures we say we are committed to having?
Either way, if you’re going to get clear about it, now is the time for you to make the choice…before life makes it for you. That’s the funny thing about the new moon in Scorpio – if you don’t make the choice, often someone or something else will. After all, transformation is a natural act – the changes we need to make in and for our lives will always be made, whether we consciously choose them or not. Life’s just a lot easier if we choose them for ourselves rather than resist and fight them, even if the choice(s) before us are major and scary from the perspective we are currently in. Nevertheless, take time during this new moon period to look at what is most important to you in your life, and choose what you are willing to give up to make space for what is possible for you and your life. Ask yourself – what are you open and willing to create and/or receive, and are you willing to let go some (or much) of your past to make room for it?
Until next week…
