I admit. I’m not much for gifts during the holidays or special occasions. I figure if I see something that I know someone would like, and I have the resources to get it for them, I will…and I will give it to them the next time I see them. There’s no sense in holding onto it for 8 months or until their “special day” or whatever. It’s acknowledging that they are special to be thought of, any time of the year.
That being said, for me, the special “occasions” are the relationships I have with the people in my life. It’s being able to see or talk or interact with each of them, and to do so as if no time has passed – whether it’s been a few hours, a few months, or in some rare cases, a few years. My family is my family, but for me, my friends are extended family. And it’s the time I spend with them, especially one-on-one or in small, intimate groups, which I value most. My family and friends and the relationships I have with them are my greatest gifts, and I am deeply thankful for each and all of them, even if I’m not in constant communication or interaction with them all of the time.
Who are your friends for you? What role do you tend to (or want to) play for them in their lives? Look to the 11th house of your astrology chart first. Look at the signs and planetary influences that occupy that section of your chart. The 11th house is about your societal interactions and influence, acquaintances, group affiliations, associations, and the like. It is also opposite the 5th house, which focuses on fun, entertainment, your receptivity to gifts, and (strange but true) your motivation(s) for giving them. Also look for where the sign of Aquarius and the planet Uranus are in your chart as indicators of the roles your friends and acquaintances play in your life.
(And for full disclosure’s sake – more specifically, for the astrology buffs who may want to know – I have Cancer on my 11th house cusp with Leo finishing out the house. My South Node is in my 11th house as well. My Uranus is in my 2nd house in Libra…Aquarius finishes out my 5th house and rules my 6th.)
