Venus is often associated with love and romance and femininity.  However, when I take note of what the planet is traditionally supposed to represent, and note that it is the ruling planet of Libra (the scales), which is an air sign (mental energy), I find it rather humorous that Venus is so romanticized.

If anything, in my experience as an astrologer-numerologist, I’ve learned that Venus and is about affinity and partnership, and that Venus can assess those subjects with remarkable emotional detachment (objectivity).  Venus can bring ease, blessings, and positive energy to matters, and its energy is usually focused on matters of aesthetic beauty (and our perceptions of it), reciprocation and the balancing of two entities – qualities which greatly influence the health and wellness of one-on-one partnerships of any kind.

Venus and the Sun conjunct each other rather regularly through a year in various signs. So astrologically, it can be a major event but it usually isn’t rare.  But this time, Venus astronomically transits the Sun for what will be the last time this century yesterday and today, Tuesday, June 5th and 6th.  Due to this and other recent major astronomical events, this particular Sun-Venus conjunction has a strong astrological influence as well.

Like the afore-mentioned sign of Libra, Gemini is also an air sign – the “perpetual student” of the Zodiac.  With Venus Retrograde transiting the Sun, both at 15°-16° Gemini, it is interesting to have the planet of objective affinity and partnership in conjunction with the Sun bringing Light to information and knowledge that enriches our internal intellectual and communicative processes.

In this dual sign of Gemini (a.k.a. – “the twins”), we get to see both sides of our situations, thoughts, beliefs, and communications.  This transit gives us a wonderful opportunity to observe and discuss the one-on-one partnerships in our lives (both actual and desired), and to assess the Truths we have come to learn and know about them and ourselves within them with some degree of emotional detachment. This is a welcome influence, especially after the powerful emotion of the New Moon-Eclipse in Gemini a few weeks ago and the afterglow of the hyper-emotional energy of the Full Moon in Sagittarius on Monday.

In taking the moment to step back and see it all more clearly under this Sun-Venus transit influence, our conversations and communications with others (or lack thereof) may be guiding us into a true understanding of what is meant by “beauty is in the eye of the beholder” – looking at the relationships throughout our lives objectively to see which ones really and truly align with who we say we are and what we want and need and which ones don’t, and which ones are really bringing out the best and most beautiful in us, and which ones aren’t.

Though Venus is usually an influence of grace, ease and positive energy, it may not feel like it at times during this transit.  There may be a bit of pain and suffering as the long-unacknowledged Truths about people we are in relationship with and/or not-so-pretty elements of those relationships come to Light.  It’s amazing what we are almost forced to see and accept when our emotions aren’t calling the shots – when we can see ourselves from the outside in and realize, understand and admit to those aspects of ourselves and our relationships where what we or others think and say is not in alignment with what we actually believe or do.

Yet in those revelations and realizations come blessings – some clear, some in disguise.  In seeing both or all sides of the people and circumstances involved, it’s a wonderful thing to be able to make fully informed and balanced choices which consider both the emotional and objective points of view.  We may gain clarity about the exchanges and relationships we want to commit to and see through. We may also realize that we may need to let go of partnerships which do more harm than good to whom we are and what we want to create in our lives.

So in light of this Sun-Venus transit in Gemini, remember the following:

  • In effective “spring cleaning”, keep what you use and/or what serves you well;  give away or throw away what you don’t.
  • Letting go of the old and untrue makes room for something new and true to come into your life.
  • “If you love something, set it free; if it comes backs it’s yours, if it doesn’t, it never was.” – Richard Bach

Enjoy the day, Until next post…
