Saturn in Sagittarius may seem like a potentially painful blend of energies. Yet, if you take a moment to understand how these energies can actually complement each other well, you may find that this is actually a call to get serious about your personal growth.
You may say it, but do you really want to expand your mind or expand your experience of life? Do you really want to achieve success and expand upon it? When Saturn enters Sagittarius at 7:50p PDT on Thursday, 17th September 2015, consider it your invitation to embark on a two-year journey to expand beyond your perceived boundaries and limitations and discover things about yourself and your life you may not even have known were possible for you.
As the ruler of Capricorn, Saturn encourages focus, structure, responsibility, and maturity with the intention of helping you achieve success in your life. It is the ruler of Capricorn – the paternal, authoritative, disciplinarian energy of the Zodiac. It is determined to reach goals, fulfill ambitions, get results, and have the trophies, medals, and status to show for its accomplishments.
Sagittarius encourages growth and expansion through adventure. Ruled by Jupiter, Sag refuses to be fenced in. It wants to be free to roam wherever it wants to in order to have first-hand experiences of its intellectual knowledge. It is through these experiences that immature knowledge becomes mature wisdom, and it is this wisdom that Sagittarius gets to share with others to expand their minds and hearts.
The challenge of putting these two energies together is in their contrasts.
Saturn may feel like Sagittarius’ energy is trying to push it out of its carefully constructed and disciplined structure. It may feel like it is being challenged to become bigger than it feels comfortable being. Sagittarius does, in fact, require Saturn to widen its boundaries – to become more open to new or different philosophies and approaches to life in order to find out what is actually and factually true.
In turn, Sagittarius may feel held back and held down by Saturn’s authoritative presence. It may resent Saturn’s rules and structures, citing that its wings feel clipped or that is feels like it’s being imposed upon or bullied by rules and restrictions. Saturn does push Sagittarius to be more disciplined and intentional in its adventuring, asking it to have a defined goal or intention to give purpose and direction to its actions.
All this combination of Saturn and Sagittarius is asking you to do is to 1) focus your passion for adventure and expansion onto a tangible or experiential goal or ambition, and 2) keep your eyes on the prize so you can achieve your goal, giving you a foundation of success to build upon and/or expand from. Saturn in Sagittarius encourages you to responsibly focus your energies by being conscious of how you’re applying your intellectual curiosity to your real-world adventures.
Think of it this way – when you’re excited, your energy explodes out into the world. It is radiating out from you in all directions, touching everything and everyone in its wake. It can be fun, but it’s also all over the place – it has no focus, no direction. The fire energy of Sagittarius burns wild and free in one big expansive expression of inspired adventure, moving in so many different directions that it can keep you going in circles and leaving you with little or no tangible achievement or result to build upon.
Yet if you can take that energy and focus it in a single direction or upon a single goal, it becomes stronger, more efficient, more precise, and more effective. It’s like a laser beam – able to burn its path and progress forward with clear and concise intention and direction. This laser is the same Sagittarius fire, but by accepting Saturn’s authoritative discipline, it now burns with intention and direction. As result, you gain clearer insights, have a result to show for your efforts, gain more from your experience, and get a better sense of where you need to go next to build or expand upon the wisdom you’ve gained in positive and productive ways.
To achieve your goal(s), you’ll need to adopt a strong sense of self-discipline and hold yourself responsible and accountable in ways you may never have done before now. If you aren’t used to holding yourself accountable for the direction and expression of your energies – if you’re used to flying by the seat of your pants wherever and whenever you feel called to go – Saturn in Sagittarius is going to be rough as you’re probably going to feel controlled or restricted…at first. Yet for some of you, Saturn in Sagittarius is going to give you just enough discipline and direction to finally get things done – things which will help you establish a solid foundation for expanding your experience and understanding of your life in ways you never imagined you could.
It’s going to be an adventure, but it won’t be as random and rambunctious as you might think with Sagittarius involved. And it’s going to be a process, but it won’t be as hard or as stodgy as you might think with Saturn involved. Sagittarius helps Saturn loosen up and open up to the amazing wisdom the world has to offer, and Saturn helps Sagittarius set goals and accomplish things in its adventures to help it build upon its wisdom in productive and meaningful ways.
Saturn will be in Sagittarius today through 20th December 2017. You’ve got a little over two years to master the mastery available in this dynamic placement of Saturn. So, turn and move toward the horizon with your eyes on the prize, and make the most of this energy. It could very well change your life – and the lives of those who may benefit from your wisdom – for the better.
Thanks for reading and sharing Signs and Numbers. Until next post…
