The 2026 Taurus New Moon reaches its maximum phase at 1:01p (13:01) PDT on Saturday 16th May 2026 (25°57’). New Moons represent new beginnings and fresh starts. This 2026 Taurus New Moon is no exception to that representation, even with Taurus as a fixed earth sign.
Taurus represents our creature comforts – the physical, material, and financial values, resources, and priorities that makes us feel comfortable, safe, and secure in our self-identities and in our personal lives. The Moon’s “water”/emotional energy gives the earth some movement and flow, making this New Moon an opportunity for you to take your first steps in establishing new resource channels that are in better if not full alignment with your most honest and true personal values.
The traditional ruling planet of Taurus is Venus, giving Taurus a reputation for seeking beautiful if not luxurious physical and material resources in valued support of our self-identity (i.e. – food, shelter, clothing, & physical attention and affection, including sex). However, I’ve found dwarf planet Ceres to be my contemporary planet of choice when it comes to association with Taurus, representing the “physical mother” that nurtures & cares for our physical & material comfort in those afore-mentioned ways. The placements of both Venus & Ceres in your natal chart, along with the position of Taurus in your natal chart houses, will help define what you value most in relationship to support for your self-identity, and which types of resources and/or environments will bring you physical/material/financial comfort and ease.
This 2026 Taurus New Moon is particularly interesting because Ceres is in near-exact conjunction with the Sun and Moon at 25° Taurus, indicating that our personal values and preferences will be of paramount importance during this New Moon phase. That, and Venus in Gemini is in semi-sextile aspect to the Ceres-Sun-Moon conjunction in Taurus, meaning that recognizing how well you are physically, materially, and financially supported leads to opportunities for each and all of us to better communicate our physical and emotional needs to those we are in connection with, in whichever way(s) we feel most comfortable doing so.
However, Taurus has a dark side – its stubbornness, which usually comes from a fear-based determination to avoid anything that is unfamiliar or uncomfortable, often leading Taurus to resist change by any and all means necessary. For Taurus, change is unstable, and instability is unsafe. The challenge is that Taurus will often choose to stay in its perceived safety/familiarity until circumstances become so uncomfortable or discordant, it (finally) realizes it has no choice but to allow change to occur. Sometimes, even in the throes of undeniable discomfort, Taurus will stay put until it’s literally forced out of its familiar surroundings, enduring certain conditions and/or dragging out certain connections well beyond their value to oneself or one’s life, usually out of fear of losing the resource(s) or stability connected to it.
The 2026 Taurus New Moon reveals that it may be our deepest individual/personal desires to be our most authentic selves in the world (as a matter of self-identity) that inspire us into actions which not only heal our past self-identity wounds but also act boldly for our self-determination. These actions lead to us re-examining our personal values and whether or not we are aligned with them. If we aren’t, we will feel it on an emotional level. In fact, if something emotionally and/or intuitively feels off about who we are being or what we are doing, it’s likely at this time that we are out of alignment with what we truly value… and we may find ourselves thinking and speaking to address that misalignment in ways which find us risking our relationships, partnerships, and connections of all kinds.
This 2026 Taurus New Moon is an opportunity for you to take your first steps in establishing new resource channels that are in better if not full alignment with your genuine personal values. You may need to release old connections in order to create space for new connections that align with your values to enter your life. This will not only be happening on a personal/individual level – this will also be happening on a collective level as people become more aware of how many of our current institutions and organizations may not actually serve the interests of human and/or planetary well-being, and how many of the technologies and systems being developed now don’t seem to be in the best interests of community, society, or humanity-at-large. This is how many “old (social and societal) values” and priorities will reveal their obsolescence, and a turn toward genuinely humanitarian priorities through the use of current and future technologies will begin to take center stage.
Most of these personal shifts may be due to an energy present during this 2026 Taurus New Moon that marks a shift away from “celebrity culture”. This was initiated in earnest back during the Leo Full Moon earlier this year (at the beginning of February 2026), but it makes it first tangible or palpable shift during this Taurus New Moon period as celebrity no longer holds the weight it once did. People are eager to see “celebrities” being in touch with the everyday reality of people’s lives, using their publicity and resources in support of and/or in service to the masses rather than either embodying or serving to a select, privileged few. That said, this New Moon is likely to bring increasingly harsh scrutiny of extreme financial and material wealth, acts of nepotism, and physical/material crimes against humanity. All charitable giving will be assessed as matters of providing or denying access to basic human (survival) resources. The fact that both Libra and Scorpio are completely empty of the standard celestial bodies indicates that matters of fairness, justice, and balance and matters of power, influence, and control are, surprisingly, not the focus right now. Though our present circumstances are a reflection of how those have played a role in creating these conditions, our current conditions are now ones in which getting basic survival resources to the people who need them most and preserving access to our collective basic survival needs in the face of injustice, imbalance, and unfairness are the main priorities under this New Moon phase.
This will not only be happening on a personal/individual level – this will also be happening on a collective level as people become more aware of how many of our current institutions & organizations may not actually serve the interests of human and/or planetary well-being, & how many of the technologies & systems being developed now may not actually support the best interests of community, society, or humanity-at-large.
This is how many “old (social and societal) values” & priorities will reveal their obsolescence, and a turn toward genuinely humanitarian priorities through the use of current and future technologies will begin to take center stage.
Numerologically, the 2026 Taurus New Moon occurs on a 4 Universal Day of security, stability, and structure. There is an intense and somewhat ironic desire to establish a solid foundation for oneself and one’s life, or to build upon one. The irony comes through the fact that in most cases, the physical/material/financial stability most of us are seeking can only come through pushing away the part(s) of our foundation that are no longer emotionally safe, stable, solid, or secure. For some of us, that may mean entirely abandoning the foundation we’re currently standing on in order to step onto a new one that’s more aligned with who we are now or who we are actively becoming. This Taurus New Moon is also occurring during a 6 Universal Month of practical nurturing and care that supports healing and wellness, and a 1 Universal Year of new beginnings and planting seeds for later harvest, both energies affirming the “physical mother” energy of Ceres and the “new beginnings” energy of this New Moon phase.
The energy of this 2026 Taurus New Moon will be felt from 13th May through 19th May 2026.
Use this time to pay attention to how you acquire the resources that support your self-identity, as well as where &/or whom you acquire them from. Then assess how you emotionally & intuitively feel about those resource relationships & channels. Do they truly support your self-identity (who you are & who you’re becoming)? Are they aligned with your values? Do you value& prioritize them? Do they value & prioritize you?
All of these questions will be important to ask and answer as you embark on this next chapter of your soul’s journey, opened by the 2026 Taurus New Moon.
~ With love, Grace
