Leo is the sign that represents the individual as unique, sovereign, self-expressive, and creative in their own right. It places the focus on the individual, and in doing so, it creates conditions for the ego to be fulfilled through individual effort, but also holds the potential for egoic self-importance to emerge.
Aquarius is the sign representing the individual as unique, sovereign, self-expressive, and creative in contribution to a collaborative effort or something greater than itself. It places the focus on the individual’s role within community, society, and/or humanity as a whole, and in doing so, it creates the conditions for the ego to be fulfilled through fulfillment of the collective goal, but also holds potential for one’s individual contribution(s) to the and/or one’s sense of self to go unacknowledged.
On 29th July 2026, the 2026 Aquarius Full Moon reaches its maximum phase at 7:36a PDT (6°30’) – a numerological 1 Universal Day that brings the energy of new beginnings & fresh starts, which is a curious contrast to the manifestation & fulfillment energy that’s usually the focus of a Full Moon phase. The ‘new beginnings’ energy is bolstered by the overlying numerological 1 Universal Year energy of 2026. What we need to understand about this dichotomy is that it’s actually a natural concurrence – as certain elements of our human (social and institutional) experience reveal that they have maxed out and/or gone as far as they can go, we start becoming aware of the potential new elements waiting in the wings.
This 2026 Aquarius Full Moon becomes more interesting when we notice how this fulfillment + new beginnings energy is occurring near the end of a numerological 8 Universal Month energy of power, influence, control, & manipulation. With this Full Moon reaching its maximum phase in separating conjunct aspect with the transiting Pluto Retrograde, the focus on power & influence is exponentially amplified. In this case, those who have been holding power may be at the zenith of their influence and control, while newcomers are beginning to emerge like seedlings breaking through to sunlight, ready to step into power to replace them.
There’s an anticipatory energy in all of this as the past is still in place, yet the future is now visible on the edge of the horizon.
But wait! There’s more!
As if that’s not already enough, I’d be doing us all a great injustice if I don’t mention how the afore-mentioned Pluto Retrograde is also still in configuration with the other three components of “Barbault’s Basket” (Neptune in Aries, Uranus in Gemini, and Jupiter in Leo – 4-6°) which still carries an influence through 1st August 2026… and that the point opposite Pluto in the basket – Jupiter in Leo – happens to be in cazimi with the Leo Sun, only 5 minutes out of exact conjunction with the luminary. Juno – the asteroid/planetoid of commitments of all kinds (including marriage) – is also retrograde in Aquarius conjunct Pluto (though now also just outside the range of the “Basket”). Oh, and the True Nodal Axis of the Moon just entered Aquarius and Leo, and though they are not in aspect with the Full Moon Sun-Moon opposition, the shared sign placement still has a notable influence on the Aquarius Moon and Leo Sun energies.
In other words, saying this 2026 Aquarius Full Moon is powerful is an understatement. So, it’s important to dive into some interpretive details on why its power is not being overstated.
With Jupiter conjunct the Sun at 6° Leo, separated by only 5 minutes, Jupiter is in cazimi, being combusted by the Sun’s heat and light. Interpretation: Icarus syndrome. Egos are burning as those in power (or who think they are in power) fly a bit too close to the Sun. The spotlight may finally be too intense for those who’ve basked in the light for way too long.
With Juno Retrograde conjunct Pluto Retrograde at 3-4° Aquarius, those in positions of social and institutional power may be questioning the stability and solidity of the power they wield. Interpretation: There are major questions about who really holds the power in our collective/public and personal circumstances. Those who are still in power may be clinging to it more than others may actually want them to continue having it.
With “Barbault’s Basket” still in effect through the end of this Full Moon phase on 1st August (currently at 4-6°), we’re being blessed with the gift of opportunities to “right the course” of the world. This is possibly our last (yes, last) chance to choose if and how humanity evolves before we’re locked into consequences that won’t be easy to navigate and most likely will be impossible to reverse without significant collective challenge. Interpretation: We need to wake up and choose our collective progression and evolution for ourselves before the powers-that-be choose collective regression and devolution for nearly all of us.
Through the Aquarius North Node, humanity is being called upon to focus on what benefits all rather than the few – it favors perspectives and policies that favor the whole of humanity, not just the few. Through the Leo South Node, individuals seeking benefit for themselves alone will likely be left alone in the spotlight they desired yet may now resent as its light reveals everything – both the glamour and the horror. Interpretation: The masses will choose their leader(s) – the leader(s) will not be chosen for them. The decline of celebrity culture, the near-immediate demise of the “chosen one(s)”. Those who see themselves among the masses will be welcomed by the masses. Those who see themselves as exception to the masses will be excluded from the masses.
And remember the numerological energies stated at the beginning of the article, especially the 8 energy of power and influence with the double 1 energy of new beginnings. With the 8 month energy sandwiched between the two 1s for the day and year, the maximum phase of this 2026 Aquarius Full Moon may be an indicator that the energy of new beginnings is ready to bring about some big changes to the existing dynamics of power.
There’s a profound sense of urgency in the air – an urgency to make sure things happen before too many people cut through the chaos and clarify the current power dynamics. As result, and with the other astrological transits in effect, this could very well be the last-ditch effort by the powers-that-be to rush their plans into place before too many people wake up to what is really going on. Those in power may also be confronted with questions about what they’re truly committed to – is it their social or institutional standing, or are they pursuing their own personal interests or desires? Have they abandoned their communities for their egos?
These questions aren’t only happening on a global or worldly level – they’re is also happening in our individual personal lives. The Juno Retrograde-Pluto Retrograde conjunction is also a time for us to look at the power we have in and over our own lives and life paths, and it’s a time for us to look at how we may allow others to have power over us. Where and how do we give away our personal power and sovereignty to others? Where and how do we surrender our free will? What gets us to abandon our commitment to our Higher selves and our life purpose(s)? Where and how did we become more committed to following others than honoring our inner Truths?
The energy of this 2026 Aquarius Full Moon will be felt from 26th July through 1st August 2026, with the end of the Full Moon phase coinciding with the wrap on the direct and initiative influence of “Barbault’s Basket.” The energy shift on 1st August as both of these astrological events complete may end up feeling like the release of a breath held much longer than intended after the energies have been building in intensity for so long. In fact, be prepared for that release to be so powerful, it ends up feeling either like a vacuum as the impact of our choices meets our realities to come in and suck the air out of our sails OR like a gale-force wind filling our sails and pushing us forward into our next adventures.
We’ll find out soon enough which one we get.
Thanks for reading and sharing Signs and Numbers. Until next post…
