The 2026 Virgo New Moon, which reaches its maximum phase at 8:27p PDT at 18°26’ Virgo, and it comes with… extras. Big extras. (This is going to be a long article. Settle in.)

This isn’t a boring day astrologically. Major Moon phase days rarely are, but this day in particular is quite busy. The line from Shakespeare’s Julius Caesar, “Beware the ides of March”, came into my head as I looked over the astrological and numerological activities today. I don’t think the day is that foreboding, but I do recognize that there’s a good deal of ingress and transit activity occurring, and find it interesting how these events interact and intertwine with each other to expand our individual and collective awareness of ourselves and the world we are living in here and now. That’s where this article’s title comes from, encouraging us to allow ourselves to be “aware” of the day’s energies and how they could be influencing the course of our lives now and forward.

Starting with the numerology, we’re coming off of the 9.9.1 Portal day of 9th September 2026, a day which brought a very similar energy to today’s with one exception – where yesterday’s energy of completions and endings made it very clear that things were coming to an end to make way for new things, this day, 10th/11th September may find us approaching a doorway to a new and expansive life chapter.

However, the energy of the 2026 Virgo New Moon also gives us a moment to pause, reflect, and clarify our intentions before we walk over the threshold into that next chapter. Numerologically, Thursday 10th September is an 11 Universal Day of inspiration and collaboration, encouraging group or community activities. If you’re experiencing the New Moon on 11the September, you are experiencing a 3 Universal Day of learning, growth, and expansion. Either day, we’re still in a 1 Universal Month and 1 Universal Year, so this day isn’t only about new beginnings – it’s also about starting new things with and/or alongside others with each and every person involved shining their unique individual lights of creativity boldly and brilliantly for all to see, in service to the greater whole. It’s a new beginning for them and, potentially, for everyone involved.

That said, there are FOUR astrological events of note on the 10th/11th September 2026, including the New Moon.

  1. Venus enters Scorpio at 1:07a PDT.
  2. Mercury enters Libra at 9:20a PDT.
  3. Uranus in Gemini begins Retrograde motion at 11:27a PDT (5°42’).
  4. Virgo New Moon maximum phase at 8:27p PDT (18°26’).

Let’s break each one of these down, and see how they interact with each other to bring us the energy of this day.

The first item on our list – Venus’s ingress into Scorpio, which is likely to have us seeking more depth & substance in our 1-on-1 interactions with others. More emotional & spiritual intimacy & vulnerability may be present or sought after in our various daily exchanges. And though things may feel or seem darker & more serious during this time, they may also prove more satisfying or fulfilling if you allow others to see below your surface presentation &/or behind your social mask(s).
This 2026 version of Venus in Scorpio will be a special challenge because it won’t tolerate any congenial “debates”, performative “civility”, or pretentious “negotiations”. This ingress may have you feeling like your relationships of all kinds are suddenly throwing you into the deep end of the pool after letting you wade comfortably in the shallow end over the last few weeks. We’re all going to be seeing below the surface of matters, whether we want to or not.

This brings us to another relationship-coded placement – Mercury’s ingress into Libra, through which our thoughts & communications shift their focus to matters of balance, fairness, justice, equality, & peace… though this time around, circumstances & events are more likely to reveal where those qualities are not present rather than where they are actively in presence & practice. Libra has quite a reputation for having a pleasant peacekeeping demeanor. However, the 2026 Mercury in Libra won’t be able to play so nicely. In 1-on-1 interactions or conversations discussing the matters-at-hand in order to bring balance, fairness, & ultimately peace to current situations may end up feeling more like confrontation than peacemaking this time around. That’s because things are so far out of balance in the collective, any words to bring matters back into balance may labeled as either ridiculous or harsh. Words may seem particularly confrontational if/when one or both parties are determined to hold specific ideas or beliefs about certain topics or situations. Those of us who think we all should just keep the peace, silence any disagreements or debates, & avoid confrontation or conflict may be in for quite a wild ideological & communicative ride.

Then we have an event for the collective – Uranus beginning its latest retrograde motion in Gemini. With it, all of us get to think back over all we’ve been seeing & hearing over the last 3 months. What have recent events been not only telling us, but teaching us? What are we learning?
As a generational planet, Uranus reveals what we as humans are awakening to & evolving through. In Gemini, Uranus is encouraging us to awaken to the power of our thoughts & words. It’s important for us to understand the power of communication & how the intake & exchange of ideas & information shape not only the way we see the world, but the way we see each other within it as a matter of humanity’s individual & collective evolution.
The most powerful element of this 2026-27 Uranus Retrograde in Gemini is that it provides us with an opportunity to see who we’re being to ourselves & each other & to intellectually “course correct”.

  • Who &/or what are we allowing to influence the way we think & speak?
  • Are we thinking for ourselves, individually & collectively?
  • Are we allowing other people or things to think for us?
  • Are we choosing to surrender our minds to the will of others?

Those three events that precede today’s star of the show – the 2026 Virgo New Moon, which reaches its maximum phase at 8:27p PDT (18°26’). The New Moon conjunction (Virgo Moon conjunct Sun) doesn’t have any other conjunctions or oppositions, but it does have a trine from Black Moon Lilith in Capricorn (17°) and a sextile from Mars in Cancer (19°). The Lilith trine reveals ambitions and agendas that may have been hidden behind one’s everyday acts of service. These goals are clarified by this New Moon energy, empowered if not emboldened by the Lilith trine not take the high road, but instead the road that serves your needs; and

The interesting thing about these two transits is that Cancer (Mars) and Capricorn are opposite each other in the Zodiac on what I call the “Axis of Accomplishment”, which defines one’s place in the world by the standards of one’s home environment and/or familial circumstances (Cancer) OR by societal traditions and/or institutional standards (Capricorn). The question posed by this 2026 Virgo New Moon is 1) whether your newly-clarified purpose is aligned with either your family’s or society’s expectations, and 2) whether you need (or want) your purpose to align with their expectations.

After reviewing all of the most powerful elements, let’s dig a bit deeper into the rest of the facts of this day.

There’s even more amplification of that New Moon “new beginnings” energy through the fact that we have three bodies at 0° at the time of the 2026 Virgo New Moon’s max phase. Chiron Retrograde in Taurus is joined earlier this day by Venus’s ingress into Scorpio and Mercury’s ingress into Libra, placing all three at 0° of their respective signs. With Venus in opposition to Chiron, this brings attention to the emotional-spiritual connections between people in one-on-one relationships of all kinds and how they may affect our ability to honor our individual/personal values and priorities. Will we reconsider our stances on what we value and prioritize in our lives because of what we experience through our emotional or spiritual connections with others? Will we stand firmly in our personal values regardless of the depth or intensity of emotional and/or spiritual connection we feel with another person? Which stance heals us more? Look for people to either not ask for what they need (for fear of rocking the boat), or to ask the questions anyway with no fear of what may happen after they disrupt the peace.

Of course, there’s one more thing.

The Aquarius-Leo Nodal Axis is at 29° of its signs, reminding us of what is being cleared out so we can live into our newly-clarified purposes and ambitions. As we clear away the old ego-driven pursuits of popular glory and move into a social framework which celebrates those who want to share the spotlight rather than keep it all for themselves, the 2026 Virgo New Moon helps to reframe our creative self-expression as a service to humanity rather than an obligation or sacrifice.

The energy of the 2026 Virgo New Moon is felt from 7th through 14th September 2026.

We’re still in a 1 Universal Month and 1 Universal Year, so this day isn’t only about new beginnings – it’s also about starting new things with and/or alongside others. Each person brings their unique qualities and talents to the fore in contribution to something bigger and possibly greater than themselves alone. It’s a new beginning for them and, potentially, for everyone involved.

And with Mercury entering Libra, as much as Libra may want to keep the peace, Mercury may bring too many questions for us to overlook what is out of balance, unfair, or unjust. Look for people to either not ask what they need to ask for fear of rocking the boat, or to ask the questions anyway with no fear of what may happen after they disrupt the peace.

The energy of the 2026 Virgo New Moon is felt from 7th through 14th September 2026.

Use this time to reflect upon recent times, to consider what you’ve learned about yourself & others. Ask yourself if the choices you’ve made have served you & others well, or if choosing for others’ benefit has compromised your ability to act in your own best interests.

In other words, are your life choices working for you, giving you a functional life – a life you want to live in & live with every day?

Let yourself feel the truth of your answers, then make the choices & take your actions accordingly.

The house in your personal chart that holds this Virgo New Moon is the area of your life where your choices need to be made – where it may be time for you to face any fears you may have to walk through over that threshold into a new chapter of your life.
