SAMSUNGVenus – the planet of beauty, elegance, and diplomacy – entered the sign of Aries on 03 May 2014 at 6:21p PDT.  As it did, it brought to our attention the need for other individuals to exist in our lives and how our relationships with others help us see ourselves more clearly.

In Aries, Venus gets a bit of an edge.  This is because Aries is the sign of “me, me, me”, eager to be assertive if not aggressive in putting itself first and being the leader in all matters it is involved in.  This placement places the planet that usually focuses on diplomacy and peacekeeping with others in a bit of a quandary.

It is in our exchanges and interactions with others that we gain a better understanding of who we are being for those people and for ourselves.  Some people act as mirrors of our self-image while others act as opposition to our self-image.  Either way, through these connections, people help us see who we are for ourselves and what we may need to awaken to or become aware of about our self-expression.  Especially during this 2014 Venus in Aries, it is through our interactions with others that fires are lit within us, urging  us to become our best and brightest expressions of ourselves.

Yet because Aries is also associated with assertion and/or aggression, there could be confrontations and/or outright conflicts when we don’t like what we see about ourselves through others.  These conflicts could happen both externally and internally.

This Venus in Aries dynamic may lead individuals who tend to focus externally (a.k.a. – not on themselves) to look at their relationships with others through a filter of, “What have they done for me lately?”  In these cases, the credit for all that is good about the relationship is often directed to self, while everything not so good about the relationship is directed toward the other.  There may be conflicts and power struggles between two people or parties if one or both of them are unwilling to concede their egos and take responsibility for their individual actions within the partnership.

There may also be challenges between two people or parties if they don’t want to admit that they aren’t on the same page about certain matters and want to move in different directions in life.  They may have maintained an unhappy or unsatisfactory relationship status quo out of an erroneous belief that they are “keeping the peace” or avoiding partnership failure by staying together.  The energy of Venus in Aries may make it very challenging to keep this tension from boiling over.

Some individuals will find that they focus internally when they are confronted with themselves.  In this case, Venus in Aries may result in individuals or entities attacking themselves using negative thoughts, negative self-talk, or possibly even inflicting physical injury upon themselves to beat themselves up for anything they perceive as bad or wrong about their relationships with or ability to relate to others.  They blame themselves for the actions, behaviors, and/or opinions of others to their own detriment.

However, there will be some people who recognize what Venus in Aries represents at its best – an opportunity to develop more love and acceptance of oneself.  They may see their egos for what they are, and move beyond them to take responsibility for how they choose to see and act toward themselves and others.  Ownership for all one chooses to be and do is the first and often the most difficult step toward self-love.  Yet once it is taken, loving oneself becomes easier from there.

During this Venus in Aries time – now through 28/29 May 2014 – you have the opportunity above all else to develop a deeper and healthier love for yourself.  It is healthy self-love that helps you recognize your best partnerships in all areas of your life.  You may find there is less of a need to seek the opinions or validation or agreement of others, and more of a desire to be with someone who appreciates you for being who you truly are.  You are more independent, and when choosing partners for any endeavor, you choose who best compliments or balances you rather than who “completes” you because you are able to recognize yourself as being complete on your own.

There may be a call to action when we see something about ourselves or our relationships that lights a fire within us.  We may also be called to action when, through our interactions with others, we are confronted with something about ourselves that we are displeased with and want to take steps to change.  Allow Venus in Aries to help you recognize the people who light you up by enlightening you to yourself.
