The 2024 Capricorn Full Moon reaches its maximum phase at 6:07p PDT on Friday 21st June 2024 at 1°07’ Capricorn, only one day after the 2024 Summer Solstice. This puts the emotional focus of the Moon in a cardinal earth sign, which helps keep some of the emotional energy focused and in check.
However, the Capricorn Moon is reflecting the light of the Cancer Sun, and with Cancer being a cardinal water sign, emotions are running high. Yet during the Full Moon, that emotional energy needs to be focused. That’s where Capricorn’s energy comes in – bringing focus, discipline, and long-term goals and ambitions to the table.
That’s also where the 2024 Capricorn Full Moon could prove a bit problematic.
Cardinal energy is initiative energy. It encourages us to get things started – to take our first steps toward a goal. Yet there are so many changes happening within and around us right now, it’s difficult to know what we’re really moving toward. As result, we’re being forced to be present because the future is so uncertain, we can’t really set goals or make plans.
In other words, you don’t get to know the end game… because we’re still creating it!
The choices you make and actions you take right now are creating your future. This is fact on not only a personal level, but on the collective level as well. Our societal and social structures and institutions are also rapidly coming into question and changing in ways which challenge our usual and/or traditional paths to “success” as it’s defined by societal and social norms which seem to be phasing out.
And therein lies the rub.
So many of us have grown so accustomed to being ambitious in very particular ways, pursuing individual goals based upon what our societies tell us is “successful” or “accomplished” – goals based upon “doing what we’re told” by others that we’ve systematically forgotten how to define success for our True selves. Success has been defined by others’ standards rather than our own. Yet with Pluto – the contemporary ruler of Scorpio, another water sign – currently retrograde in Aquarius giving us a taste of what the future could bring soon going back into Capricorn and the tried-and-true status quo one more time (from September through mid-November 2024), our old structures and institutions will be getting one more shakedown – one more opportunity to address their long-standing shortcomings and failures before the emerging future ones either empower them for facing and healing difficult truths or destroy them for not owning up to them. As these structures and institutions are showing their true natures, more and more people are discovering that they really only have themselves to turn to for forging a path.
That said, this Pluto retrograde and ingress process is revealing how many of us as individuals aren’t really leaders, but followers afraid to follow our own True paths. This is why true and authentic leaders are so few and far between – because few have the courage to forge their own way, to set their own standards, to declare what success and accomplishment mean to them and only to them, and the ambition to pursue those declarations. It’s also revealing how many of us may be confronted with that reality under this 2024 Capricorn Full Moon – that we aren’t the leaders we thought we were, and we aren’t pursuing goals that we thought we wanted… yet we have an opportunity to become the leaders we want to be now more than ever before.
Of course, to become those leaders, we need to embrace change, and we get some assistance in making that change from the numerology of this 2024 Capricorn Full Moon, Occurring during a 5 Universal Month amplifying the changes already in progress, the energy is ripe for us to make changes in our lives, especially in regard to our emotional attachments and investments. It may be time to let go of some of the emotion-driven connections and affiliations we have in our lives. The Full Moon itself reaches its maximum phase on a 7 Universal Day of rest, reflection, recharging, and refocusing our energies in the Americas and all points west of them OR an 8 Universal Day of wielding power and influence in the rest of the world, that refocusing and reclamation of our energies especially includes our emotional energies at this time. In order to reclaim our power in alignment with the theme of the 8 Universal Year energy, we must allow ourselves to process all of the insights and information we’ve gathered over the last few days, weeks, and months in order to reset not only our values, but our emotional priorities so we can make sure our goals are fully aligned with our inner truths in ways which inspire us into action rather than having us stuck in limbo because we’re fighting our honest and earnest feelings.
To set and pursue new goals which are true to us and what we (emotionally) value most, we must refocus our emotional energy. The 2024 Capricorn Full Moon gets help in this regard from Capricorn’s ruling planet, Saturn, which is currently moving through yet another water sign, Pisces. This is significant because even though it doesn’t directly aspect the Capricorn Moon-Cancer Sun opposition, this Saturn in Pisces placement does bring a grounding and focusing presence to Pisces’ usual inclinations to get lost in delusions or fantasies. Instead, Saturn in Pisces brings stability and encourages us to make the effort to bring our personal dreams and visions into tangible form, even if they may be at odds with society’s standards.
This realignment with what’s our hearts want rather than what our societies want may be challenging for some if not all of us. There may be a lot of “woulda-shoulda-coulda” happening right now for many, and that’s a natural response to living a life that may not be in alignment with who we truly are. Yet it’s important to trust that everything you have chosen for your life to this point – whether you chose it for yourself or for someone or something else – has a purpose in what you get to do in the present and/or in the future. Trust that you haven’t made your choices in vain – that there is a bigger plan for who you’ve been in the world up to this point, and through this 2024 Capricorn Full Moon, this is an excellent time for you to refocus yourself on what your emotions are calling you to be now and next.
