The 2026 Aries Full Moon reaches its maximum phase at 9:49a PDT on Saturday 26th September 2026 (3°37’). Aries is a cardinal fire sign, initiating actions in the name of declaring one’s self-identity. Ruled by Mars (which is at 29° Cancer at the time of the Moon’s maximum phase), this Moon phase is all about how we feel (emotionally and intuitively) about ourselves at this moment in our life’s journey, and how the actions we are taking reveal how we feel about ourselves.
Any Aries Full Moon brings attention to not only how we feel about ourselves as a matter of identity, but how we feel about our actions and behaviors in one or more areas of our lives. Knowing where Aries resides in your natal and/or progressed charts will help you recognize which areas of your life may be important in defining yourself for yourself.
However, this 2026 Aries Full Moon is also about how we feel about who we are (or who we think we are) in the eyes of our family and closest friends. This could be what we know they think and/or feel about us because they’ve told us, or it could be our perception of or belief in what they think and/or feel about us (likely because we haven’t actually asked them). With the Moon moving through exact conjunction with Neptune as it approaches its maximum full phase, and the two still within conjunction orb at the time of maximum phase, this Full Moon reveals two things:
- Our perception of how others may feel about us may not be accurate, even though it’s a perception that may be the anchor of our own self-identity.
- Dreams we may be pursuing which may be outdated, rooted in a past version of ourselves that was either created by others or one that we believed would make others happy with us. However the dreams originated, they may no longer be aligned with who we are now.
Why is how others perceived us in the past and/or now so important to how we feel about ourselves now, how we may be assessing our self-identities, and what we envision for ourselves and our lives?
Because the Aries Full Moon is reflecting the light of the Libra Sun, and Libra is a cardinal air sign, initiating the exchange of ideas & information for the purpose of establishing & maintaining diplomacy, fairness, justice, & peace. This is the sign of diplomacy, negotiation, and justice, operating under the idea that any conflict or disagreement can come to a peaceful resolution through open and honest dialogue between the two or more parties involved.
In other words, Libra is about who we are in our one-on-relationships with others.
Relationships of any and all kinds may exist in conflict or discord because they are not balanced, fair, or just in ways which allow both or all partners to feel honored or valued in their partnership. One party may be expected to carry more responsibility, while the other may not be expected to carry any responsibility at all. One party may be held accountable and face many or all of the consequences of a situation, while the other may not be held accountable or face few or no consequences at all.
That said, Libra is ruled in both traditional and contemporary astrology by the planet Venus. With Venus currently transiting in Scorpio (7°), this puts pressure on many of us to make decisions about who and/or what we want to be in relationship or partnership with now and moving forward in our lives. It also encourages us to assess which of our relationships and partnerships are balanced, equal, fair, and/or just. It pushes us to make choices and take actions to either balance the scales in the relationships or partnerships that are not aligned with Libra’s ethos of fairness, justice, and peace. The relationships that cannot be balanced may need to be left behind or brought to a decisive end.
Adding the numerology into the mix… the 9 Universal Day energy of completions and endings blended with the culmination and fulfillment energy of the 2026 Aries Full Moon phase results in a powerful “put up or shut up” energy – an ultimatum of sorts to hold ourselves and each other responsible and accountable for our deeds to this point , and to complete and clear away certain perceptions of ourselves rooted in blame and shame in order to create space for new versions of ourselves to emerge. Those new versions may become clearer to us during this Full Moon phase as it is also occurring during a numerological 1 Universal Month energy – an energy of new beginnings, fresh starts, & planting seeds for the future. Under this Libra 1 month energy, the “Diplomatic Leader” makes its presence known, encouraging us to become more assertive & intentional in our efforts to create conditions of agreement &/or peace in our lives by taking the initiative to bring disagreements, conflicts, and misalignments to an end.
However, these 9 and 1 energies don’t come without potential challenges. There is a possibility that any resolutions or deals being negotiated may not be balanced, fair, or just for all parties involved. “Leaders” may be negotiating (or pretending to negotiate) in their own favor or to their own personal benefit, not to the benefit of each or all. In these cases, diplomacy isn’t about making sure everyone gets a fair shake – it’s about using the “right words” or framing the context in order to get what you want while leading everyone else to believe they got something good in the deal (whether or not they actually did).
“Negotiations” may also be a way to cover up and/or distract from preparations for aggressive, violent, or militant action(s) that initiate conflict. This 2026 Libra 1 Universal Month energy is likely to end up teaching or reminding us that a large part of honest & earnest leadership is negotiating in good faith, and exercising diplomacy in ways which are truly fair and just to all. Through it, many of us may be discovering that many of our leaders at this time are not negotiating or acting in good faith. It wouldn’t be a stretch to say the absence of good-faith leadership in many of our social and societal institutions is the reason for many of the conflicts and challenges we are facing now. This is exacerbated by the fact that we are in the last days of a 1 Universal Month occurring within a 1 Universal Year, intensifying the desire for new beginnings and fresh starts in many aspects of our lives, and amplifying a demand for new leadership in one or more areas of our individual and collective life experiences.
When we factor in both the new beginnings energies of Aries and the number one, and the fulfillment and completion energies of the Full Moon and the 9 Universal Day, we could confidently call this “the beginning of the end” for many individuals and institutions of leadership. Even if leader are still able to act in certain ways in certain conditions, this 2026 Aries Full Moon will provide the wake-up call a majority of people need in order to begin taking earnest actions to hold themselves and their leaders accountable.
The most important element of this 2026 Aries Full Moon will be the self-accountability component of this phase. Aries is all about self, and reminds us that we can only hold others accountable as much as we are willing to be held accountable ourselves. The pointing of fingers to distract from one’s own deeds provides no shelter here. In fact, any hypocrisy will be felt intuitively and known (sub)consciously under the glow of the Aries Moon as it reflects the light of the Libra Sun. And in the daylight of the Libra Sun, any hypocrisies present in this moment will be apparent to all (who have their eyes open) to see.
This may very well be the week in which we finally take ownership for both who we choose to be in the world and the kind of world we are choosing to live in.
