There has been an astonishing increase of anger and violence within the last 8 days. Shootings, political coups, terror attacks, and rebellious uprisings seem to be rapidly growing in numbers around the world. It’s happening in the United States, Iraq, South Sudan, India (Kasmir), Bangladesh, and sadly, the list goes on.
What is happening?!?
In a nutshell, the people, as a collective whole, are waking up to their circumstances, their feelings of emotional and spiritual dissatisfaction, and as result, they’re trying to reclaim their power…and the institutions currently in power and/or trying to claim power aren’t happy about it.
The Cancer 7 Sun energy has people not only thinking, but feeling. They are both thinking about their feelings, and they are feeling their thoughts. As they look around themselves and within themselves, they are realizing that something just isn’t right here. Now, as they take a moment to really look and listen, they’re not only beginning to see and understand what is happening – they’re beginning to feel what is happening.
In the line of work I’m in, a lot of people say “we need to focus on the positives – love, kindness, compassion, and peace”. I’m all for those things. Yet I’ve learned that if we try and pretend that the negatives don’t exist and we choose not to be aware of what is happening in the world we live in, we aren’t creating anything but avoidance, denial, delusion, and escapism. I don’t believe it’s my job to tell you to feel better about yourself and others. I believe it’s my job to help you understand what is happening so you may feel empowered in facing and dealing with the energies surrounding and affecting you to the best of your abilities.
To that point, all of the major incidents within this last week have occurred under the influence of the following four configurations and transits:
- A Water Grand Trine involving Venus in Cancer, Mars in Scorpio, and Chiron in Pisces (21-25°) Yet each one of these has a different version of this Grand Trine AND each one has other chart influences which explain how the effects of each of these events builds on the others. The message here is that fundamentally emotional beliefs support decisive actions to exert one’s power and influence may have extreme effects which could contribute to both the aggravation and the healing of our collective emotional-spiritual wounds. I’ve stated in previous posts over the years that Grand Trines are usually seen as positive configurations yet sometimes, those positives must come through challenges. This is because trines amplify and encourage the energies of the bodies and points involved. To my point, Mars in Scorpio as part of this Grand Trine seems to be bringing up a great deal of emotional anger, aggression, and pain…yet this pain will likely push us to find solutions and healing we may not seek otherwise, and that is the good news.
- A Cancer Sun–Capricorn Pluto Retrograde opposition (13-16°). As I’ve stated repeatedly (since it’s in the sign from 2008-2023), Pluto in Capricorn represents the transformation of societal institutions (or the “powers-that-be”) – those which have serve the greater and Higher good of society will strengthen while those which do not serve the greater and Higher good of society will collapse or be destroyed. With the Sun opposing Pluto Retrograde, it is giving us another chance to see how the powers-that-be are applying their power – for better or worse – and we are feeling it on an increased emotional level because of the Cancer sign influence on the Sun.
- A Neptune Retrograde–South Node conjunction in Pisces squared by Saturn Retrograde in Sagittarius (10°-14°). Saturn in Sagittarius means there is a duty and responsibility to truth, and retrograde means that that duty and responsibility is being given another chance to be recognized and honored. Neptune being in its rulership sign of Pisces reveals a strong inclination to romanticize circumstances or to delude oneself in order to avoid or deny reality. Both Neptune being in retrograde AND being conjunct with the Pisces South Node reveals that there are past karmic implications in play, and this may be a revisiting of emotional-spiritual deceptions and delusions of the past which need to be address. The square with Saturn Retrograde makes sure these delusions and deceptions are addressed, and that truth –in all its forms and with all its factual details – is made known. There have been quite a few idealistic bubble burst over the last 8 days as result, with more to come.
- Virgo Jupiter trine Capricorn Pluto Retrograde (16-18°) and Capricorn Pluto Retrograde sextile Cancer Sun (13-18°). A growing call and/or need for practical solutions to be provided by the powers-that-be. On one hand, this could also indicate that the powers-that-be are wielding their control and influence over the systems which enable our everyday lives to function. On the other hand, institutions which cannot solve problems and heal pragmatic damage to the everyday lives of the people may face collapse or destruction. The individuals and institutions which provide effective, pragmatic solutions will experience growth and expansion.
Each of these incidents have built upon each other, increasing the awareness of energy dynamics in play. I’m choosing to focus on the three police-involved shootings which have happened here in the U.S. because they best illustrate the progression of these astrological energies and what is being awakened in the world as a whole right now.

05.July.2016 at 12:35a local time in Baton Rouge, LA (3 universal day – learning, growth and expansion)
For this incident, the Water Grand Trine involves Venus conjunct the Moon in Cancer in the 4th house, Mars in Scorpio in the 8th house, and Chiron Retrograde in Pisces in the 12th house. The signs are all in their natural houses, and the Moon is in its natural placement by house AND sign. This configuration reveals fundamental emotional conditioning; decisive actions taken in alignment with perceptions of power, influence, and control; and the opportunity to revisit wounds of the past to encourage either further wounding, the beginning of healing, or maybe both. Strong emotional responses rightfully ensued as result.
Aries was on the Ascendant at the time this occurred which amplified the Mars energy and the aggression factor in general. With Mars in Scorpio in the 8th, there was also an amplification of any actions or attempts) to exert power or control over each other. This was the likely reason aggressive and irreversible damage was more likely to prevail at the time of this incident.
The Cancer Sun in the 4th house was in approaching opposition to Capricorn Pluto Retrograde in the 10th, attracting the added public scrutiny of the police’s application of power and influence in the matter and generating emotional upset. Emotions were also amplified by the Moon being in its home sign conjunct Venus in Cancer, revealing that things were done in pairs, and it’s likely someone else was providing (emotional) support for one or more parties involved during this incident (i.e. – there were wo officers & it has since come to light that there are two videos of this incident). This Moon-Venus conjunct is also square Uranus conjunct Ceres in Aries at the time, which reveals a double emotional challenge to public or popular values on both sides of the matter. The presence of Uranus also reveals the increased likelihood of the video footage getting out into the public arena.
When we bring the Pisces Neptune-South node conjunction into the mix, we notice that it’s at home in the 12th house of the chart AND we notice there isn’t just a square with Saturn in the 8th house, reflecting a challenge to honor one’s duty and responsibility to use power truthfully and responsibly. The Neptune-South Node conjunction also trines the Mercury-Sun conjunction in Cancer! This brings even more emotional revelation to the circumstances yet also encourages even more denial and/or rejection of the truth that is being revealed.
There may have been video, but there was still too much plausible denial of wrongdoing on the part of both sides of the argument due to the effects of Pisces-Cancer trine.
Philando Castile:
06.July.2016 at 9:17p local time in Falcon Heights, MN (22 universal day – networks of emotion-based relationships are stabilized and strengthened)
For this incident, the Water Grand Trine involves Venus in Cancer in the 7th house, Mars in Scorpio in the 10th house, and Chiron Retrograde in Pisces in the 2nd house. This shows that partnership is key in this incident with Venus in the 7th (a double partnership influence); that actions by those exerting power and influence were brought into public awareness with Mars in Scorpio in 10th, and that the incident would also strongly influence people on a lifestyle values level. The fact that Castile’s girlfriend streamed live video of the incident was one part of the revelation. The other part which created the lifestyle values wound was the fact that his girlfriend’s 4-year old daughter was also in the car at the time of the shooting, consoling her mother in the aftermath. This created an emotional response in people which got through to people both intellectual and practical levels. This incident felt more real for people, and began taking people out of delusion and began earnestly raising questions about the use of force in policing.
The Cancer Sun in the 6th house was in opposition to Capricorn Pluto Retrograde in the 12th, indicating the revelation of the police’s application of power and influence in the matter through pragmatic means. Yet, in an added twist, Mercury was in exact conjunction with the Sun at 15°, making communication of that revelation much more likely. The Cancer Sun-Mercury conjunction in the 6th acted as a messenger being of heartfelt service, bringing a revelation of what could have been kept secret to light. With Capricorn Pluto Retrograde in the 12th house, the police use of force in this case ripped a long-standing and long-hidden emotional-spiritual wound wide open.
Virgo Jupiter trine Capricorn Pluto Retrograde is made a bit more significant by Capricorn Pluto Retrograde sextile Cancer Sun (15-17°). The Cancer Sun helps reveal the use of the powers, for better or worse, and connects the growing call for practical solutions to the increasing awareness of a cultural shift being needs within the institutions of power.
The Neptune-South Node conjunction square Saturn configuration revealed that the public was becoming more aware of what was happening and feeling a stronger sense of duty and responsibility to the truth, calling for the facts of these matters to be revealed and addressed. More and more people began calling for honest assessments of these matters and for accountability and disciplinary actions for the officers involved to be taken.
An additional ‘big deal’ configuration on this day was a Cardinal Angular T-Square involving the Capricorn Ascendant opposite the Cancer Descendant conjuncted by Venus in Cancer, both squared by Uranus in Aries. This is very important because this is what awakened the public voice. In order to stand in support of Castile and his girlfriend and her daughter, people decided to take collective steps to bring awareness to the emotions finally coming to the surface by challenging the idea that the institution/”system” knows and does best AND the idea that the people on the other end of the powers-that-be are not compliant or cooperative with laws enforcement. Along with the Moon (now in Leo at the time of this incident) being square the Scorpio Midheaven and Taurus IC, this incident made people feel emotionally emboldened and deeply passionate about declaring their values and claiming their power back from the powers-that-be.
This second incident was the one which inspired an unprecedented emotional outcry expressed through rallies and marches across the nation. I use the word ‘unprecedented’ because for the first time, the emotions weren’t just felt by those who would be expected to feel them. They were felt on a mass scale, transcending demographic lines of all kinds. People were earnestly beginning to wonder if there really was an imbalance or injustice in law enforcement based upon race and class, and many were reluctantly beginning to admit that maybe there was.
The Dallas Police Sniper Attack
07.July.2016 at 8:58p local time in downtown Dallas, TX (5 universal day – change, unexpected events, versatility, adaptability)
What is remarkable is that the house placements for this event are almost identical to the Castile incident. The ascendant for the Castile incident was 21.33° Capricorn, while the one for Dallas was 22.64° Capricorn. The Capricorn Ascendant reveals that both of these incidents occurred with the assumption of institution authority and responsibility at the fore.
This places the Water Grand Trine (still involving Venus in Cancer in the 7th house, Mars in Scorpio in the 10th house, and Chiron Retrograde in Pisces in the 2nd house) AND the Pisces Neptune-South Node conjunction square Sagittarius Saturn Retrograde configurations in the SAME houses and positions as the event the day before! The public and the institutional powers-that-be could no longer deny an increased demand for a stronger sense of duty, responsibility, and accountability to factual truth. Beyond calling for the facts of these matters to be revealed and addressed and for honest assessments of these matters and for accountability and disciplinary actions for the officers involved to be taken, there was now an attack on the institution. Not only that, but the one blamed for the attack was one of all involved – a former military soldier (protector of country) who was also a man of color.
Also due to the house placements, the Cardinal Angular T-Square of Capricorn Ascendant square Uranus square Cancer Descendant conjunct Venus was also still in effect here, with an added boost – Venus moved forward just enough to make a square with Ceres in Aries, forcing a wide conjunction of Uranus and Ceres in Aries and more powerfully adding the personal values discussion to the dialogue. Now this really was an exercise in assessing which lives are valued most by the powers-that-be, awakening the question of …whose lives matters to whom, why, and what are we going to do about it?
The one tinfoil hat detail I will add to this assessment of the Dallas incident is that I do not believe the shooter acted alone. With Venus in Cancer conjunct the descendant from the 7th house, I believe there was at least one other shooter who was not captured or killed. This would align with some eyewitness accounts saying that shots were being fired from multiple locations. And with the Capricorn Ascendant placing Capricorn Pluto Retrograde in the 12th house, this occurred with the assumption of authority at the fore and implies hidden (or the intended hiding) of long-standing agendas by the powers-that-be.
The third shooting brought us to the ultimate revelation that there is something bigger in play here – the law enforcement and justice systems – and likely, the entire socioeconomic standard of the United States – are compromised if not outright corrupted on one or more levels, and there needs to be some extreme action taken to restore truth, honesty, and integrity to the institutions which provide structure for our society.
Again, it’s important to say that none of this is necessarily the fault of the law enforcement officers as a collective whole! Individuals within their ranks may have their own personal biases and beliefs, but any corruption within their ranks is often institutionalized and packaged as “holding the blue line”. Officers who see wrong aren’t encouraged or supported in speaking up or out against those who do wrong. Now they, too, are beginning to experience the fallout from that internal culture. It’s sad, it’s frustrating, and it’s scary.
It’s also imperative to note – all of this energy is in effect beyond the United States.
We can see it all over the world right now – people standing up and doing what they can to take their power back from institutions which are abusing their powers and the trust we’ve placed in them.
Yet what I find most fascinating about all of this is that any violence which ensues seems to be instigated by or driven by either the powers-that-be or the powers-that-want-to-be. Peaceful gatherings and protests are turning violent and even those who are supposed to serve and protect are finding themselves in danger by their own hand. The institutions seem to be lashing out, trying to protect themselves from the people coming together to reclaim their power.
